Hi guys. I have actually watched some tutorials for this game, which I never do, because it is pretty overwhelming. I have a little big more idea what's happening now and started playing as Germany in 1936. The Spanish civil war just happened. Now I wonder should I DO something?

I don't think I can just declare war out of the blue, or if that is a goos idea. I mean obviously I want a puppet there ideally, something like that. OTOH in real life franco was totally useless to germany in the war. If nothing else I don't want a commie/anglocuck spain. And of course I don't want to prematurely start WW II either.

You should definitely send an Expeditionary Force to spain. Both to make sure the nationalists win the war, and to let your military get some much needed combat experience.

All right. I figured out there is some "intervene in spain" thing in the diplomat area and I got movement rights through nationalist spain. How do I actually move the troops though? My navy does not seem to have transports or any place to make them.

Don't know about HoI 3, but in DH there's an option to intervene (send percentage of your manpower and money to Spain) or assume full control of their military. Also by expeditionary force I think it means lending divisions to the AI and not being in full control of them.

I didn't find anything like that just a lend lease button and when I sent men they just ran out of supplies so I gave up on it, nationalist spain was winning anyway so whatever.

Do you guys bother to build convoys as germany? I had my trade on auto but it seems to do a lot of retarded stuff and it has hoarded a huge amount of money which will probably be useless once the war starts. Also do you think it's worth building IC at all?

I am thinking of starting over now because I went through to 1938 and there is a lot of stuff I did I would not do now.

This music is the worst shit in any game I've played. I don't expect them to have horst worstel lied but none of it is even remotely martial. You can't even do rule brittania or halls of montezuma? Fuck you!

Game was horribly confusing to start with but now I conquered france and poland and did it in a good time fame. Now the problem is all these fucking bombers bombing everything out even though I have a 10 level AA in virtually every city except the ones I conquered in france, and also have about 18 interceptors and multi-role fighters. What the fuck am I doing wrong? Right from the start they are bombing meas if it's 1944 when in reality england wasn't bombing jack shit in 1944 and I am also almost certain I have way more air power. Yet when I try to crater their runways or do air superiority all I get is a bunch of heavily damaged squads - and they take hardly any damage.

Reading some steam threads it seems you can upgrade from infantry to marines. I can't figure out how to do that though, anyone know?

From memory - Click on a division with an infantry brigade in it. To the right of the brigade's name is a 'wrench' icon. Click on that icon and you'll see a list of possible upgrades. The brigade will go back to the production queue, so you must deploy it again after it is finished upgrading.

Turns out upgrading was a super shitty idea. It ended up costing a lot of ICs and so I did not build many units. Suddenly in 1938 United Kingdom declares war and I was completely and utterly caught off guard

Do you guys have any advice for barbarossa? The warning marker says I have only 67% of the troops that russia has on the border so that doesn't look good even though my infantry all have stg44s and the tanks are basically panther tanks (this is early 1941).

I invaded switzerland for their resources. I was going to invade spain but spain seems like a nightmare with all those mountans and land area.

I have slowly but surely hunted down the royal navy using a couple high tech battlecruisers with a huge number of distractionary screens but for some reason the game just won't let me past the straights of gibraltar. This is retarded as shit, if it is what I am thinking and they are just not letting me because england has that little slice.

Besides soviet union who else is worth invading for resources? Any downside to invading spain?

Besides larger coast, larger area to fortify, increased chance to have revolts so they capture your territory and taking you attention away from the frontline in exchange for a miserable amount of IC, leadership, manpower and some fuel and steel?
Nothing. It is good to invade Spain.

For scenarios your divisions are setup in a way that they are optimized for the specific objective for that scenario. The two countries that is worth conquering at that point is Britain and SU.
I don't think you are property setup for Sea Lion so that leaves SU as your only option.

Spain has about 40 rare materials in it though.

Sea lion is very easy even when their navy is strong but the russians always immediately attack me once I land. As I said royal navy is basically gone but conquering them gives me nothing and will just immediately launch into russian war.

Landing is easy. Getting hold of the entire Britain is harder. Making them surrender is even harder.
Britain actually has quite a bit of resources. Especially fuel which you lack.

You can try...invade USA? Lots of resources and poorly defended once you establish a foothold.

You'll want the organisation techs in the research tree ASAP (especially the combined arms ones). The infantry upgrades are more important than armour, get motorised and the other specialist brigades. Don't forget to build more IC and keep your officer ratio around 110%.

I couldn't take this weird ambient shit-music any more. I downloaded a bunch of german and american marches and some propaganda speeches from both sides and modded them into the game. Dat feel when you are getting low on men and the last speech of Lord Haw Haw kicks in is just priceless

^ Agree. Europa engine is way superior to Clausewitz engine, at least for HOI. But you have to learn that yourself, often it is no good just telling someone.

HoI 2 is pretty outdated and it's map is awful
Darkest Hour is still the best WW2 paradox game yet
