GTA4 was better than GTA5: When even the embodiment of DECLINE itself begins to decline.

My favourite GTA was Lost and Damned, so the beginning of Trevor's story kind of ruined the character for me, but overall I'd say GTAV is among the better games in the series.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the GTA London games among the 2D titles. I never owned either of them and played very little so can't comment on the quality. Anyone play them?

You can play GTA Online without any loading screens for hours. Just do Import/Export missions and stay away from jobs, races and all that junk. I dont know exactly if this is true but my impressions is that RS has initially tacked on missions to the online game, which results in loading, loading and loading. Later DLCs for Online however were designed differently so that there is no loading.

There are also hardly and QTEs and the only annoying things are the animations when you enter/leave buildings and of course the annoying phonecalls from Ron.

You can also play in a empty public lobby by a simple trick that involves tabbing out and stopping GTA with resmon for ca 8 seconds.

What I recommend is that you buy 1 sharkcard so you can become CEO quckly and then play together with a friend. That way I make more money than people with 3 times my level. Dont do only missions for other people, because you dont earn jack that way.

The sharkcards often have bonuses attached to them, there was for example an offer a few days ago to buy 1.2M + 750K for 15€. I would have taken it if I had not already made 7M in the last weeks.

GTA V is quite enjoyable as a "Driving around a city simulator"

I don’t remember that much about the main characters, the main story, don’t play online anything so I can’t comment there, but I remember distinctly just having fun driving around flipping people off as Trevor and getting into fights. It’s old, but San Andreas was the series’ swan song. They cut out so much stuff from that made GTA what it was that while it’s more REALISTIC and a PARODY of THE ERA IT’S SET IN, yawwwwwwwn....could at least keep the god mode cheats and let me fuck around for than five minutes.

[edit]

Another thing that occurred to me was how fucken prissy millennial gamers have gotten. Remember the Hot Coffee nontroversy GTA SA had? I figured by now we’d have GTA games with full-on sex simulators with the option to finish with a donkey punch.

Worse is the level of autists that this game attracts.

Even millenials compain to me about randoms just killing anything on sight. If you see someone drives around in a tank or jet, best abandon the server.

I don't enjoy the characters or tone of Lost and Damned but as far as missions go it's certainly an improvement over IV.

GTA V is good. GTA IV is good. GTA Vice City was the best. GTA 1 and 2 have been forgotten. This is your friendly neighborhood Toront reminding you that GTA used to look like this...

I never got to play London though.

Retro City Rampage (forget the sequels name) is the closest we can get to this now I guess?

overall I'd say GTAV is among the better games in the series.

I found the map to be really enjoyable, along with San Andreas it's best in series in that regard. But some things about the game did piss me off:
Forced sticky cover system - no more simple crouching behind cover like I could do in IV. Huge deal for me.
Constant "unchecked" messages on phone - everyone keeps bitching about characters calling to hang out in IV but it was piss easy to deal with. Right click to hang up. In V I ended up constantly clearing these fucking messages with all 3 characters. Hell, you have to clear same fucking messages with all of them separately. Well I guess you don't absolutely need to but that "unread" status triggered me.
Allowing us to have multiple weapons per slot - why the fuck? Game would have been easy enough without it. And it's not just the easiness, it's the fact that game keeps switching those weapons around forcing me to re-select my favorite weapons all the goddamn time. I guess they thought switching player's weapons against his will was such a grand idea in Max Payne 3..
As I've already said I was disappointed with lack of physics and sense of weight to cars. Physics in IV might have been exaggerated with cars not having enough grip, yet I still strongly prefer that to what was in V. It's hard to feel any real rush at high speeds if you know you can stop the car almost instantly when you press break and it also doesn't get destroyed nearly as fast when you do crash into something.
Also is it just me or is there no way to make real money (as in - enough to buy up properties) without enganging in that shitty stock market minigame?

Beating the game will also make me uninstall. I never play sandbox games after main story is finished. But I guess there's no real reason to have these properties anyway so whatever.

GTA IV better than V? Oh no, hell no. Fuck off sim-fags go play Asseto Corsa or jerk off to Arma.

GTA IV was mediocre at the time I considered it bad game. GTA V is goofy and unrealistic because Saints Row became a thing just as people were doing videos with swings' bugged physics others were enjoying SR2 - a normal game with side activities but intern quality. It was logical to make next GTA similar and get the audience from competition. GTA IV has nothing to offer gameplay wise and the story is boring pile of forgettable events and uninteresting characters. People praise the bank heist but we got that stuff in GTA Vice City or casino robbery in GTA San Andreeas. The only thing which improved with GTA IV were physics and to some degree graphics. But the game got rid of bicycles, airplanes, barbers, tattooists, gyms, different combat styles, tuning, simplified clothing, got rid of RPG stats, parachuting, pushed racing to some boring minigame with only 9 tracks and made most missions into FedEx errands with occasional killing or chases which used new drive by system. This game was nothing more than a technical demo with a story which derailed as you unlocked Manhattan.

GTA V proved to be a big success because the developers posted two gameplay videos portraying changes from GTA IV like improved shooting, improved driving, most of the mechanics from San Andreas making a return and a focus on story going about heists. GTA V is not a perfect game, it has AI cheating with accuracy and heavy damage bursts, you can't change shoulders when you aim with your weapon, the cover system is still a mess, the story was more about being FBI hoe doing dirty work but still I enjoyed playing GTA V more than I did GTA IV.

Of course GTA V is still far behind GTA San Andreas in terms of gameplay mechanics and GTA Vice City in terms of story and character development. But I believe it's more because of GTA Online which proves to be cancerous to single-player.

Just point me one thing GTA IV did better and tell me how it makes that game better overall than the newer one.

Yup, the most fun thing to do was use the codes to give all pedestrians weapons and then make them riot.

The driving is a lot more fun for me in IV and also V doesn't have the cops n crooks gamemode which is CRIMINAL (everyone be sure to leave a brofist if u got the joke thanks)
