Gothic 2 would be 5 times better if the fucking trees faded out when near

I seem to remember that in normal G2 there was a armoured skeleton (of the not moving variety) on a cliff face near the city that you couldn't access except by climbing (up/down) that had some good early level loot. Now in NoTR i've climbed allover the cliff faces around the city and there's zilch. Am i imagining it or was it removed?

Also, a question. I've read somewhere there's a 'mod' that makes potions/tablets/etc bonus not count towards the stat maximums, and just LP; so you can imbibe the potions/stuff when you get it instead of going to godhood in 2 levels. Is this 'mod' the ICP v2.10 so i can just stop caring about this? (edit: apparently the 'alternative rebalancing was removed in 2.10; it's likely this)

Also, which shore line is it where you can be eaten by the sea monster? South, North, West or East? I remember that in Gothic 2 vanilla, just by going west, but right now, tried west and north, and there are some lame invisible walls around the deep ocean.

I think you're thinking of G1. There was a skeleton outside the old camp that you could only get to by climbing up the cliffs. Though in G2 I think there is a skeleton hidden under some trees on an overhang out the exit you take to go towards the mercenary camp. I forget exactly what it has.

Gothics were good ideas, but shit games overall. I mean really, you say you are trying to be hardcore and 'original' and the best you can come up with is...orcs and dragons? And streetfighter like combat?

Fuck you.

Heheh. Entered the city through the 'backway'. Now, this might not seem impressive, until you realize the mod redesigned the guard view cone (the really cheap way is impossible) and the cliff faces and the water so sea monsters always get you if you go into deep water. Doing it involved the scaling redesigned cliffs, and few controlled drops (one into shallow water, fortunately momentum doesn't exist in Gothic) and killing out of depth monsters by cheap tactics (hiding behind a shrine of Innos for snappers and on top of a boat for the lizards)

For a while i thought it was impossible

Is the farmer-clothing stepping stone trick no longer possible?

I do not believe there was an armored skeleton near the beginning areas of the the harbor town in vanilla, but I may be mistaken. I believe the first skeleton you can encounter, if you are anywhere near the beaten path, are the ones near Onar's/Sekob's farms.

The sea monster strikes if you swim past the Thieves' hidden treasure island -- you first get a warning "you are being watched hungrily by piranhas". I think it works in most directions tho, assuming you don't get invisi-walled first.

Also, for invisible-wall fun, there's one right behind the snorting Dragon Snapper up by Bengar's Farm. If you try to walk onto the rather inviting corner ramp behind it you get hit by invisi-wall.

Lol. Yeah, it's probably best not to do certain quests until the passage is open the 'normal' way. A npc on the game wanted to go outside the city due to my interference, and tried to climb the crane on the harbour to retrace my steps and fell into the ocean. A suicide by another name.

About the farmer clothing; i don't believe that it's there. The mod takes place after the 'lore' gothic 2, so there are lots of empty chests and killed people around, due to the nameless hero buggering up the situation.
For example, the first thing i did, since the mod starts on Onar farm, was to go into that catacomb, since it was open. Lot's of scary deader skeleton mages and shadow guardians, but only lots of loot (on the form of rusted swords), no fight there. Generally this isn't the case, the 'normal' enemies are all respawned as if it was chapter 1 normal gothic 2.
(the second thing i tried was to get the fire bow, but the NH went there).
Maybe another object would work fine.

I believe npcs in gothic teleport if they're outside your view distance, so maybe it would suffice to let him leave without following.

That's correct, but you have to go past a bit more than when they just are not longer visible. They also skip their "you just beat me up" dialog (but I believe the repercussions are still there). I would rely on this to get NPCs to teleport past dangerous monsters so I didn't have to baby-sit them.

I used to be mad that NPCs wouldn't help me fight Seekers (even the guards when I was Militia/Paladin) but now I realize that was a blessing instead of a curse -- they'd be annihilated.

Man, the fire bow or magic bow/xbow make no sense to me. Are they seriously limited to the arrows you get with each or can you somehow get more/use normal ones? Otherwise they're basically just gold caskets with a few pew pew's in 'em.

EDIT: You can use things other than farmers clothing to do the trick, I think some items/weapons may work. I do know that two-handed weapons can elevate enemy corpses so you may be able to do it with a two-hander or a large enough one-hander (axe or mace?).

Otherwise, maybe climb the cliff near where Skip usually is from the outside path to Jack's lighthouse? I donno if there's enough ledges but it seems like there may be or at least a few points you can jump around/climb around.

That's what i used, but with the whole path beach side. The other mountains were cut-up so there is no viable path from the inner cliff to the city. Guess the earthquake justification.

I'm happy. Collected a lot of quests and got the the skinning talents.
The mod has some good ideas on the gothic template - for instance all the main traders have a quest which you can either do for some monetary reward, or do for lower buy/higher sell prices. A early-ish quest increases the damage of a sword by 5 points (agony of indecision). Should have explored the ship (another ship - they say), it might have had the master sword there.

The ... language... is the worst part of the mod right now (though if you enjoy butchered english, you might enjoy it).

Oh yeah, the girl is comically ugly, especially in the intro. It's those chubby cheeks i think.

Guess I'll try this. Just refinished 2 as an archer/thief and was thinking of rerunning Risen before going on to G3 -- I had avoided all mods for fear of what the majority of fan made content is: teh poop

EDIT: holy shit is the writing bad. Like... google-translate copy paste bad.

I donno if I can keep up with this. I like the idea, more or less, but fuck.

Yes. Half my fun was puzzling out confusing lines. I think a 5th grader of a non-english language could do a better translation. There are some parts that are quite bizarre too (about 2/5). Fortunately, it's entertaining by itself to see the dialog tongue-in-cheek-trainwreck. And the quests/quest journal are mostly ok.
The thing i could do without, as has no value at all, are the small spoken parts that even the version without german voice overs has. Very strange to suddenly hear a German voice (always Velaya, commenting on a quest update) in the mist of english ambient chit-chat. Intro dude should have had his tongue cut out at puberty too.
I found one real bug/bad quest so far (it's the one about the stonecarver). Very irritating. Basically the mod did most things right except not having a better editor and a non-insane translation, and not ditching voices completely.

It's also stupidly difficult, since it's very hard to get better armor and Darion-fire-mage early HP boost was nerfed, but maybe that's just NotR.

gothic 2 with addon is perfect the way it is...
Correct. If you download a trainer and scale back the monster difficulty to what it was in vanilla G2 before NOTR skullfucked anything remotely resembling balance and made it necessary to reload 10+ times to defeat the first fucking goblin you meet outside of Xardas' tower.

NotR is no walk in the park but 10 reloads to kill a goblin just means you suck at the game.

I must admit it can be difficult if you are playing one handed and masturbating at tranny porn with the other hand. Otherwise, Gothic 2 was difficult but I played harder.
