Free for a while.

The newest game is also -75%. Not sure if it's any good or not. I seem to remember people complaining about horrible optimization. Not sure if this was later fixed or not.

EDIT: I love their description about TDR

About:
Heads up!
TDR_Warning.png
This game contains humour, strong language, and violence that some may find offensive. You may find it offensive in other ways, too. We do.
Disclaimer!
TDR_Warning2.png
Stainless Games had no involvement in the development of Carmageddon: TDR 2000. So, you have been warned.
Final Warning!
TDR_Warning3.png
So, hopefully that's clear now. Carry on!
TDR_Overview.png
Yes, it's the game literally... SOME of you asked for! And so, in the spirit of "well, alright then, if you insist..." we present the third game in the Carmageddon series, in the knowledge that some of you Carma fans out there would like to have a complete Carmageddon collection in your GOG library. Nothing wrong with that. Anyway, here's what the blurb on the back of the DVD case had to say about Carmageddon: TDR 2000: The world's most controversial racing game returns with incredible graphics, fantastic game play and even more outrageous fun! Max Damage, imprisoned for life, plots his escape. However, there's the small matter of an army of police, hordes of gangsters and thousands of enraged inhabitants - all with homicide on their minds. To succeed, it will take a four wheeling genius with no morals, a killer instinct and a burning passion to escape. No such person existed... until now!
  • Drive 50 totally destructible vehicles.
  • Over 48 missions and races to complete.
  • 9 completely 3D single player environments to explore and destroy.
  • 7 multi-player game types in 9 custom maps.

Reminds me of Running With Scissors' description for Postal 3:

Disclaimer of Shame
Postal III is a third-person shooter in which you… ehhuhm

Alright I’m going to level with you – don’t buy Postal III. Seriously, you’d regret it. Hell, you’d regret playing it for free. It’s a borderline-broken, boring, frustrating, unfinished mess, and there was nothing we could do stop it.

What happened is that we agreed to let a big Russian publisher develop and publish a third Postal game, which we would handle the design for. It was actually going well for the initial development time, but then the economy crashed especially hard in Russia and the project was handed to a smaller, less experienced team that didn’t have the skill or resources to make the game we designed, and they were forced to rush development to meet unreasonable deadlines. Corners were cut severely, dramatic changes to our design were made, and the game was put out in an unfinished barely-Alpha state. The game is simply unfinished and broken. And when it does work, the game is just boring and frustrating to play. The sad part is that the publisher made little-to-no effot to fix it themselves, nor did they ever give us access so that we could try patching it up for them. We are stuck with Postal III as it is.

You’re a responsible adult (we hope), so I’m sure you’re capable of making your own purchasing decisions. I just want you to consider all of the above, before you make the leap of regret into paying real hard-earned money for this title. We don’t own the game, we can’t support it and we don’t get anything from its sales, so if you decide to risk the purchase – you’re on your own.

Alright, so here’s all the marketing blurb from the back of the box:

Is the recent Carmageddon game any good? I remember loving the second one.

Terrible optimization was a case for Carmageddon - Reincarnation. This one is Carmageddon-Max Damage and it works way better (GF 650 GTX and no issues here).
Running over NPCs feels bland (Carma2 and TRD did it better), wrecking cars feels ok, special missions are not obligatory (you get new levels after gathering enough points to unlock them).
But the worst part is OST - bland banal shit boring, not even old tracks save it. You can put your own tracks in but it's considered as a hacking and block your access to multiplayer :decline:

You can pick it for few bucks but no more.

Still - gonna try and play TDR despite warning, see if these special missions were as hard as I remember (mostly due time limit)...

Just a head's up. The game is $5 only if you already own Carma 1 and 2. Although if you don't already own them what the fuck is wrong with you.

No.

They're on sale at the moment, you can pick up all the Carmageddon games for $10, which I did.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. The GoG team had to go back to old retail masters and try and make them windows compatible as the source code for the original 5 games was lost many years ago before we acquired it.

They managed to get 2-4 working but are having issues with 1 and 5. We hope they'll be able to resolve them and add them to the list too at some point. Then there's the other 5 games we released. We don't have a firm date for when any of these will be available.

edit.

We'll have more games on GoG soon but they need to be selective to avoid overloading you! We have 300 strategy and wargames in our line up and release ~3 new releases a month.

Can someone tell me if GOG Lighthouse the dark being has two cds on it ('.gog' files iirc)? Because the tool that is used to 'merge' SCI games doesn't work with Lighthouse and RAMA unfortunately, so getting it if it wasn't merged is useless to me (i want to share the data files with scummvm and dosbox)
