Bit of a weak day.

New deals:
All the Myst games, if you don't have them yet: http://af.gog.com/promo/fall_sale_myst_bundle_91115?as=1649904300
The X games released and bundled: http://af.gog.com/promo/fall_sale_classic_x_bundle_91115?as=1649904300

Deals about to end:
Broken Age: http://af.gog.com/game/broken_age?as=1649904300
Freedom Planet: http://af.gog.com/game/freedom_planet?as=1649904300
Shivah: http://af.gog.com/game/the_shivah?as=1649904300

Freedom Planet is a surprisingly good arcadey platformer. Fast paced gameplay, good level design and diverse bosses. Not so good when it comes to the voice acting, but that''s only a problem if you play the adventure mode.

I like those games. And when i like games i want to own a copy of em, a legitimate one. And also id like to have my collection of classic rpgs in one place and not on some amateur webpage that could be closed down any day.

That place should be either your HD or your basement if you own the boxed copies. You don't own shit if it's on some company's servers.

Not sure if I missed something, but GOG ONLY has VTM Redemption, not Bloodlines? That just seems odd.

Last time I read about it, there were some legal problems with Activision basically not wanting to sell the game in retailers other than Steam. Which is weird because GOG has a lot of Activision-published stuff, those games still sell well and etc. Then again they haven't released anything important from Blizzard yet and it seems they want to optimize their old games themselves instead of letting GOG do it.

Oh snap, didn't even cross my mind that that's the reason. No chance in hell the game's ever gonna be on gog, unless valve has a massive change of heart.

In this case, it's probably not the source engine. I won't dig in hundreds of old thread on GOG, but a reliable source said there (years ago...) that the problems were coming wholly from Activision which seems to still try to profit from one of their biggest financial disaster. So it's more a case of "my precious drm works oh-so-well!".

I'm pretty sure that Valve doesn't have any particular rights on the title. And Paradox too by the way, they are always talking only about Activision as publisher.

EDIT : And the best proof I can think of is that Activision sold Bloodlines drm-free on DOTEMU for a time a few years ago, before GOG threw out its policy of only two prices :5,99 and 9,99 dollars at the time. The price of 20 bucks was the problem at the time.

EDIT 2 : And by the way, Activision does have some games on GOG, and participate sales-wise to the site but didn't add a new game there since around three years ago. It's like Square Enix, even just for adding a few already existant localisation to already sold games (like vampire redemption, arcanum or some hitman titles), it's almost impossible for GOG to negotiate anything with them right now.

JudasIscariot I read on one of the reviews that one of the collection of goldbox games still has copy protection. Can you confirm this?

AFAIK, it's probably referring to the Krynn games. If we leave the copy protection intact then that means removing it breaks the game. We had a similar thing happen with the German version of Wizardry 7. You remove the copy protection and instead of meeting the blonde woman on a red hoverbike you meet this insectoid looking dude who promptly kills you.

All of the necessary documents are provided for the copy protection. Look in the "Documents" folder in the Start menu for the individual Krynn games.

Most of the other games have the copy protection nullified but you still need to type something in there so you can just get away with typing a single letter and be done with it.

Thanks for the confirmation, Judas.
