There is something deeply weird about her face. I can't put my finger on it, there's something deeply wrong and uncanny-valley about it. That creepy expression does not help. Who is she and why is she significant?
National Space Invaders Champion in 1980

Due to her love of storing hamburgers in her desk drawers, her friends call her "Burger"

I would be hyped about this if Heinemen didn't do those things on Twitter and/or Herve is not (possibly) involved with this.

Well, let's see what they bring on the table...

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Divinity: Original Sin 2
She should put some thought into them tweets. Even a small sliver. But the prospect of getting another quality blobber is giving me a cautious semi.

So it is, let the wars beginn. Drag Wars 2 versus Bird's Tale IV. Who is more queer? The codex will judge all bad in the end.

"The Codex" is likely more interested in discussing whether Fallout 4 will be shit or not.

Jaquays is the real deal - she did some really classic stuff in the PnP RPG field (both adventure design and art) and has a nice old-school art style:
The reason I have confidence in the project is that everything I own by Jaquays has been top notch stuff.
  • The early adventure modules published in The Dungeoneer and through Judges Guild are masterpieces of dungeon design, with a very strong 3D element and inventive, non-standard encounters. They are regarded as classics among fans of traditional RPGs.
  • The Runequest publications helped flesh out the background for one of D&D's main competitors (CRPG players might know its world through The King of Dragon Pass), and again, the adventure modules are known for their combination of local cultural variety, evocative locations, and solid encounter design.
  • Her work at TSR was mainly as an artist, but the few adventures she wrote (outside the joke Castle Greyhawk) are, again, very good (although not well known due to their low print runs).
  • Dunno about her work on 3D games, but apparently, her levels are well laid out and very good at using the Z axis.
That makes her one of the few people among game designers I would consider absolutely qualified to remake Dragon Wars.

WRT the trans angle, she has been surprisingly normal about it (although she was known as a deeply conservative Christian before she switched teams, which makes you wonder...).
I really really wouldn't put her in the same box as the Tumblr squad.

Heineman, though, seems like a liability. But we will see.

Yeah, that's quite a resumee. I played the FRUA version of Castle Greyhawk and it was surprisingly good for a module filled with sillieness, but very hard. Jaquays also made a good impression on Matt Chat.
Let's hope Burger sticks only to the coding.

I'm all for it if they manage to produce something worthwhile. But are they popular enough to attract a substantial KS money? Fargo is sure to succeed, but them? I'm not so sure unfortunately...

Super small mobile games studio wants to create ambitious first-person crawler. Announced with seemingly very little preparation. I can't seem to Shake(er) this feeling of having seen this before.

Guys, why are you even discussing DW2 as if it has any chance of coming into existence? Brian's KS will get funded on Day 1. But the tranny KS will fail in the most embarrassing way. Remember how it went for Guido Henkel and Neal Halford, a team with way superior back catalogue.

Fixed it for you.

Redundant. Shit is shit. But duhurdurrr do u think bethesda is incline???!!

Brian's KS will get funded on Day 1.

I doubt it. He doesn't have that much to go on to attract a lot of people. With Wasteland he had Fallout, with Torment he had Torment. With Bard's Tale he has what? That Hearthstone thing was obviously a stunt to draw some attention because he doesn't have much else.
Not much doubt it would do better than DW2, though.

You make a valid point. But KS success is highly dependent on marketing skills, and this is what Brian does best. Also, he has modern day credibility with one KS game released and the other progressing steadily. Proof that you have a team that is capable of delivering the promised product means a lot. And on top of that he's got Wasteland 2 revenue to add to the funding.

All I can tell you is that Bard's Tale IV is going to have a pitch and campaign on par with Torment's. A complete vision document, all that stuff. But that should be no surprsie.

They had the backing of Ubisoft. This should have been detrimental, and probably was in terms of creative freedom, but in terms of budget it worked in their favor.

DW2 would only have the KS money to ride on.

Fair enough. Which one are you talking about, then?

He mentioned it in his post, but I guess you weren't around back then. Google "Shaker Kickstarter".

Oh the Brenda Romero thingy. Didn't know it had another name than "Old School RPG", yeah I remember that. Best pitch ever.
Anyways, I don't quite get the constant badmouthing of Burger. If Fargo reignited her lets-make-a-blobber spark, wonderful! Best case scenario: We get two good blobbers in the near future. Worst case: Who gives a shit, 2014 and 2015 provided us with more good RPGs than a reasonable human being could play anyways!
