I'm playing Geneforge 1 + 2 concurrently and I have two meta-game questions.

Q1: Is it is viable to sink all your points into Lifecrafting and ignore magic? It seems like the creatures have access to most of the magic anyway.

Q2: What are the practical thresholds for leadership and does leadership have any actual applicability in Geneforge 1? Do you have to put all your points in Leadership to be a diplomatic character?

Yeah, especially since you've got healing magic in crafting. you'll regret not having all those nifty blessing spells, though.

With 8-10 (plus items) you should be able to succeed every check. 3-4 is a good starting point.

1) You should be able to get access to most if not all spells in G1 simply through boni (iirc you only need 5 skill for the highest spells).

2) Early to mid game the only checks needing 8 Leadership or more should be those allowing you to join a faction without doing their quests. The only one worth it is the Takers (10 needed I think ?). 4 or 5 is the most I put in through skill points, you get 2 more early on and later you can buy more.
