I was not aware all three of these games are going to be released in 2016 (also I was not aware of Trenchmouth at all). That is great news. Godspeed, MRY. :salute:

2016 is aspirational. I think it's a near certainty for UIHY. I think if Trenchmouth gets made, 2016 is a relatively likely possibility. FG, somewhat less so.

It's nice to see a developer who is inspired by real historical and literary sources, not a gam3r who wants to get in on making things go boom. You sound more akin to the devs of the 80s and 90s MRY, I'm optimistic.

Time to play Primordia.

(Though, in fairness, it has its literary inspirations, too. Also, it's awesome that the trailer WEG cut for it is entirely things going boom.)

I don't care so much about the game's inspirations, but the people making the game. Case in point, I think modern day Bethesda and Bioware are essentially energy-drink slurping neophytes who would self-identify with gamer culture, i.e. repugnant human beings. Your game can take direct inspiration from whatever (though Fallout 1/2 are some of my favorite games), but it's the influences in the lives of the people making the game that ultimately give it breadth and depth incomparable to modern-day AAA releases.

The people who made 'our' classics weren't getting fat playing WoW and fantasizing about being the dev who placed the +12 hackmaster in a chest, they lived varied lives and were inspired by a host of non-digital things such that the games they created reflected it.

I am not entirely comfortable joining them, but it's one thing to have a pseudonym for articles and another to have a pseudonym for games. Also, at the time I wrote that article, I was a law clerk, and what I wrote could (in a convoluted way and under extremely implausible circumstances) somehow reflect on the judges for whom I was clerking. Of course that's true for any employer, but the judge-clerk relationship is different (I think).

I think a turning point was when the Harvard Law alumni magazine wanted to run an article on Primordia (which they'd learned about from a friend of mine). At that point, it seemed to me interesting to discuss the way the two careers overlapped. Clarity, incidentally, was loosely inspired by the first judge for whom I clerked, bringing this whole analysis kind of full circle:
