Basically, do you have any things you're a fan of, but intensily hate the fandom of?

As I've gone through me and EVA fandom before, I'll talk about the other one.


Me and Lovecraft fandom. Specifically the type that embrace that cosmic horror nihilism as reality and think it applies to all fiction. And of course, all the while being oblivious to the fact that the Mythos has required several retcon upgrades in power in order to keep up with real world progress, that the original stories were written in a time where there were no cell phones, much less atomic bombs.

I liked steampunk but it got influenced by manga and cosplayers.

Characters and creatures combining sapience with animal-like characteristics.

I love the characters. I love the setting. I love the games. I even love a bit of the fandom itself, the small creative side which loves Touhou as much as I do and makes great fangames and stuffies. But the fandom at large? All those thousands upon thousands of loli porn doujin reading abominations? And all those thousands upon thousands of my waifu retards who have nothing better to do with their lives than using augmented reality shit to film Aya lying on their rooms? And the thousand upon thousands of meme vomiting jerks that never actually played the games? Purge them all, I say. With acid. And death. And horror. And torture.

You know what? I'm pretty much a misanthrope that despises all fandoms by default, so everything I like goes on the list anyways. Food, collectible card games, various movie genres, weapon collections, various types of science. All cool things. Everyone else who likes them too can go to hell.

The only thing I found really wrong with the Eva fandom is the absolutely fucking nazi moderation on the Evageeks forums. I'm not the sort to object to creepy porn, you know.

I object the fact the EVA fandom tends to be fucking retarded, and can't even explain what makes the series so good but instead just spout that it's "deep." Similar to the would-be hardcore comics fans who automatically respond that Watchmen is the best comic ever but can't explain that beyond superficial common knowledge reasons.

I hate the computer game fandom. Especially the revisionist crowd:
indies (games are magically different when they are self-published!), nerds (computer games in 90s were never never played by cool people, just by us uncool nerds and it was cool people who made them suck!), next gen fags (turn-based was only because of the technical limitations!), etc.

I was just talking to a friend about EVA yesterday and he couldn't really explain why he liked the series beyond "it's the quintessential mecha anime" and "I liked the philosophy". So yeah.
