For me its other, i loved the planescape setting. I was tired of seeing Dwarfs and Gnomes and just dealing with backwater generic cities and villiages. Planescape offered up an interesting ammount of ideas and wasn't afraid to go into a little bit of philosophy. Not saying it was the most philosophical game out there but i always enjoyed how everything was controlled by belief and will power and the various ideas the factions had. I loved the factions as well, i was so glad that it didn't have the typical religous style that most settings with sword and sorcery, where there are a handful of Gods and mortals are their petty slaves who worship them or else.

I did like the Fallout setting though, but that was really only because of the game Fallout though. My second favourite would have to be cyber punk because of the artistic style and i've always loved those huge sprawling mega cities that you see in them.

    necro!

I liked a few. WoD obviously - refreshing modern setting. Makes no fucking sense of course.
Krondor was very nice, one of the few games not afraid of text.
I also thought bloodnet was nice, but i'm not sure how much of that was fetish for adventure hybrids or genuine - it's rather generic cyberpunk+vampires

I didn't really like the setting in RoA
But in a similar manner (even as silly at times) i quite liked King of the dragon pass (not that it's a rpg)

I think the reason is that Kotdp developed/integrated their lore much more.
Similarly Morrowind specifically as a setting is very nicely built - because of the the lore integration. Bit derped with the expansions.

I never really thought Torment's setting was something i really noticed - i knew it was a essential component of the weird ideas the game was built around - provided most of VIP's, the factions - but i don't really care; give me a game as detailed, replace *belief* by something else and i'd be good.

Deus ex setting was barebones but suggestive for all the tin-foil around - it wasn't very interesting tbh, except perhaps as it portraits the illuminati as 'the old men who dream of ruling the world', ie: a non-issue to the new power-brokers which was a nice deviation from the formula.

Post-apoc, cyberpunk, sci-fi any day of the week. Enough with this fucking swords and sorcery elf larping faggot crap. You mean to tell me that the Kingdom of Generica has existed for thousands of years, you have immortal races, literate peasants and magic that allows you to do anything and you still ride horses and shoot with bows? It never makes any fucking sense.

Makes as much sense as most PA and Cyberpunk settings. You don't wanna go there. :M

Used to be sci-fi and classic medieval fantasy side by side(bit of a dwarf obsession you see). But i fell in love with Planescape upon knowing it.
Still, there's pretty much no setting i downright *dislike*.
