    Can't thank you enough. The most delightful ride into absurdity I've seen in a webcomic, without trying too hard.

    My favorites are, in no particular order:
    Schlock Mercenary - funny space opera. I read this from day one and it still keeps me chuckling;
    Sinfest - sometimes funny, sometimes kind of insightful;
    Perry Bible Fellowship - funny, sometimes in a twisted and cerebral way;
    FreakAngels - more of a graphic novel that happens to be on the internet than a webcomic. Written by Warren Ellis;
    XKCD - mandatory reading for geek-card holders
    NSFW ones:
    Sexy Losers - hasn't been updated in ages, still fun to poke around archives from time to time.
    Oglaf - kinda weird sometimes but very well drawn and fun

    Also, most of the stuff posted in this thread is decent to good.

    Aside from the already mentioned C&H, PBF, Oglaf, Hark a Vragant... etc, I really dig Romantically Apocalyptic art style, it looks gorgeous:

    Hark A Vagrant is more or less going into hibernation, as Kate Beaton is starting new (better-paying) projects. I'll miss the webcomic, but I of course wish her luck.

    Yeah. For the past year or so, a lot of her stuff has been A CONVERSATION I HAD WITH A CLOSE FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER, IN PARTICULAR WHEN SAID CONVERSATION OCCURRED DURING A HOLIDAY

    Has this been posted? Only 40 or so comics and on indefinite hiatus, but a worthy read nontheless.

    Here, let me show you.

    Ongoing:
    Freefall (a unique combination of furry protagonist, hard SF, ethical conundrums and inane gags), XKCD, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (something between XKCD and Cyanide and Happiness), Darths and Droids, Goblins, Oglaf (the codexian webcomic), Romantically Apocalyptic (bizarre lulz mostly), Prequel (not a webcomic, but an interactive - through forum suggestions - story set in Oblivion's take on Cyrodiil and bizarrely enough not sucking at all), a few others.

    Defunct/Finished:
    Perry Bible Fellowship (mostly dead), Digger (fuck, yeah), Irregular Webcomic, Rice Boy.

    Does anyone know a webcomic in which this guy travels to different planets and eventually falls in love with this chick, but he always has to move from one planet to another? The comic is sort of in a hiatus, it seems, and the author used to use a lot of blue in its drawing.
    Thanks in advance!

    Btw, doesn't the guy who makes Romantically Apocalyptic do his pictures by first combining photographs and then using photoshop on them with some painting touches for finish?

    Of the comics I've read and enjoyed, the only ones that haven't been mentioned are Digger and String Theory.

    Digger - mentioned this one here before in the previous Best Thread Ever. I even got a couple of Codexers to start reading it (DraQ and Nael IIRC, possibly some others) and they liked it too. Quoting that post:

    As a bonus, it's also one of the only webcomics I know of that has ended in a "legitimate" fashion (i.e. actually finishing its story rather than simply petering out over time). Wasn't really a fan of how it ended - the last 30 or so comics seemed rather abrupt and rushed IMO, like the writer had originally planned a much longer story but decided she wanted to end it sooner - but it's well worth reading for all the enjoyment it provides up to that point. Edit: Scratch that. Just went through the last ~100 comics again and the pacing seemed fine. Not sure why I had the impression of it being rushed the first time, although some things did feel a bit off, like the resolution with Shadowchild's part of the story.

    String Theory - just started this one a few months back, and so far it seems pretty good. Not much more to say about it, I think I'd have to go through the archives again to say exactly what I like about it - though one positive I can mention is that the art has improved greatly over time. It's also got good pacing and nice attention to detail in the more recent strips. Was definitely surprised (in a good way) by the turn it took after the end of Chapter 1, wouldn't have expected it to go that direction at all and it probably would have been a much more generic comic if it had stayed on the course it seemed to be heading up to that point.

    I'm reading Digger right now and I have to say it's pretty good so far. Not exactly fast-paced, but that's okay since the webcomic's already finished.
