Via NeoGaf.

It could be fake, and I think it is.

Apparently its owner Bethesda Softworks has different id with the owner of New Vegas trademark, Bethesda Softworks LLC (the real deal).

It's funny how Obsidian's codename for PoE2, Project Louisiana, helped propagate this meme completely by coincidence.

I think I also remember someone from Obsidian saying they'd like to make a fallout game there.

This is probably fake though.

Fallout 4 has an in-game hint towards New Vegas 2 (the ancient alien city beneath the Mojave), so this would be an odd move. Seems fake for numerous reasons.

What a high quality story hook to pass onto Obsidian

I think that whole thing was just an easter egg for a real life cult that certain parts of the quest were based off. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordo_Templi_Orientis
Just like Kid in the Fridge being an easter egg for Indiana Jones, right?

They'd have to mod the shit out of F4's engine/game mechanics for me to touch that shit, with or without Obsidian writing.

What does it take to get a new isometric Fallout game? Just have it be a spin-off/lose the number at the end of the title (the irony), like New Vegas or (God help you) Shelter.

Likely a response to people keep asking him about this.

"Very doubtful" is not a "no", though. :smug:

Inb4 their new mobile project for Fallout is a top down mobile game with tb combat. Call it "Meanwhile" for maximum butthurt.

I'd like to see Fallout take place in Oregon between Fo1 and Fo2 explaining what happened to Vault Dweller and large warbands of mutants that traveled north. That would be great fan-service.

How would a Fallout: N'awlins even look like? Like Point Lookout, just flooded, with a lot of black ghouls, because they weren't allowed into the vaults? PL was already too much of that swamp.
Heh, tho it would be awsome if such a game would invert the cliche and make a vault full of elitist afroamericans, looking down on the whities having to squat in the wasteland outside. :obviously:

I think it could be good if you played with how Fallout America beat racism, like slavery revisionism and patriotic lies about George Washington Carver inventing the peanut

I would give away my right arm for a Fallout:New Vegas made by obsidian with Avellone as one of the director.
Of course Sawyer must be there too.

But is much more probable a porn movie with the Pope.

The registration by Bethesda could still be consistent with Obsidian's 'reply.' I'd say there's a good chance Bethesda wouldn't use Obsidian for another spinoff. I saw someone suggest that they might hand it off to Arkane who is in France (the filing is in both English and French) and are now a regular Bethesda 'contractees.'

What's Fallout 4 outside of the city of Boston? Mostly wilderness with a few smaller cities. Scale isn't really important, I'd say most of the world design would focus around New Orleans, some wilderness (not, not all of the area in southeastern Louisiana is swamp), and you can include Baton Rouge, and a couple of other cities. Actual Vaults, though, would be problematic around New Orleans unless they were underwater.

And that was exactly one of it's many problems. Boston proper had a few historic buildings to remember players where they are, but outside downtown they had to invent things like the Corvega factory, to bring at least something memorable to the otherwise generic wasteland #123. The focus on "build your own settlement" over premade ones with a little background makes it even worse.

I simply had no motivation to explore FO4 anymore, all I would find is yet another settlement whose inhabitants had been killed some time ago. Resettle it? Nah, we settle in a flooded mudcrap nest instead. They spent all their time on the faction missions, but the rest of the game is bland, empty and forgetable...
F:NV had the Mojave and a small settlement (or at least a friendly NPC) every few minutes, Morrowind had a very unique landscape (you had to enjoy a lot thanks to now fasttravel), Skyrim was a stunning hiking simulator, and FO3... well, it had a metro.

I didn't mean to imply Lousiana is only a swamp, just.. it would be the thing Bethesda would focus on with their not-gamebryo engine.

No doubt Bethesda is lazy when it comes to Fallout world design. Compare their shitty default settlements that usually consisted of one lean-to house and some debris with something an extreme modder can do:

I mean, wtf, is there a reason the can't hire people to do stuff like that? Of course, they'll say, they intentionally leave things shitty so people can do just that.

Like I said in the FO4 release newspost, Bethesda can be understood as a non-AAA game developer who have been successfully masquerading as one. For a decade they've been getting away with shit that real AAAs wouldn't dare do.

It'd be admirable if their games had any intellectual substance to them.

I like how he feels the need to tell everyone he didn't cheat and collected all the resources by hand, like that was far more important. I had to deduct one respect point for that. :obviously:

Still, great work. :salute:

Agreed. It's not like they have a shortage of cash or resources. If some modder can do world design on that scale in his free time there is no reason a paid 40+ hour a week employee of one of the biggest AAA publishers/studios out there can't do the same if not ten times better. I'm not sure I understand why their games take 4+ years to produce (assuming the rotations between TES and Fallout).

Pete's nothing-speak on this trademark: http://metro.co.uk/2016/09/07/pete-...-raise-to-a-certain-level-of-quality-6113553/

GC: And just finally, what was this rumour about Fallout: New Orleans? I saw a logo just before I came out here, but didn’t see any official comment on it.

PH: We don’t comment on trademarks and rumours.

GC: Oh, so it might be real?

PH: It’s just whenever anyone asks about trademarks we don’t ever say, ‘Yes, that’s us’ or ‘No, it’s not’. Whether it’s real or it’s not real.

GC: Ah, it’s not real though is it? I can tell from some of the pixels and having seen a few shops in my time… or whatever that meme is.

PH: [laughs]

GC: But would you consider working with external developers again on a new Fallout or other established franchise?

PH: Well, we’re working with an external developer on Quake. That’s a pretty big, important franchise for us.

GC: But New Vegas was something different, the dev must have had quite close access to your own internal studios and tech. Would you ever do something like that again? Because I think that everyone felt that New Vegas turned out pretty well.

PH: I don’t know; we’ll have to see. [slight grin]
