Well, well, Killap released several new versions of his mod in December and nobody bothered to tell me. The latest is 2.3.2. Of course there are also corresponding versions of the fixes-only unofficial patch.

http://killap.net/

2.3.2 changelog:
Bug Fixes:
----------

Klamath:
--------
• Some female children were still incorrectly using the male child model instead of the new female one.

New Reno:
---------
• Fixed nasty bug accidently introduced with the extended dance sequence in the last release. Sorry about that!
• Restored missing script that triggers when entering Lloyd's room.
• Reverted change about casinos becoming abandoned after wiping out a gang family. While logical, it became controversial and other areas of the game don't get affected in this way. So, it's all or nothing and we're going with back to the vanilla state (nothing).

2.3.1 changelog:

Bug Fixes:

Den:
----
• You can no longer gamble at Becky's gambling tables after she is dead.

Vault City:
-----------
• Unlocked dialogue for Cassidy where he talks about his dislike of Myron. This is all vanilla and I swear it was unlocked long ago, but seems to have been lost. Anyway, it's back!

New Reno:
---------
• Extended the dance sequence that you can do as a female player at the Shark Club.
• Wiping out a gang family causes the casino to become abandoned (i.e. you can't gamble anymore, the patrons leave, etc).

EPA:
----
• Killing the spore plants on the Green Level no longer counts towards wiping out the plants on the surface.

Vault 13:
---------
• Unlocked conversation with Goris asking him about his true identity. This was prevented before by bad vanilla scripting.

Random Encounters:
------------------
• Fixed crashes with Kaga. Most cropped up due to saving/loading during his encounter, but this should also make his encounter more stable in general as well. Also potentially fixes the issue where you would encounter Kaga but the map would be empty.

Misc:
-----
• Added high-res patch v3.06 as a legacy option in the installer for Mac OS users and those that need to use an older version of the high-res mod because of graphic/UI problems.
• Installer fix for Russian translation: Deselecting Cassidy's new voice will correctly NOT copy over the Russian voiced files. Before, the Russian voice files were always copied over when you chose the Russian language, no matter what Cassidy options you set.
• Several vanilla fixes that I won't list here (unofficial patch docs has that info), but I want to at least mention it so you don't think this release of the RP isn't worth the update. ;)

2.3 changelog:

New Content:
• You can now play as a female red head.
• The toaster at the EPA would give you a new ability but it never showed up in your perk list. It now does.
• Russian translation (1C) now included in the installer.

Bug Fixes:

Abbey:
------
• Fixed several scripting errors with the pump questline.
• All NPCs at the Abbey will now properly attack you if you are caught stealing from them.
• Fixed dialogue scripting errors with the Wooz and Brother Jason questline.
• Corrected an instance where the Brother Samuel and Father Tully questline wouldn't get crossed off.
• Companions now correctly show the church background for the first level of the Abbey.
• Your car now goes with you when you escort Brother Jason to Gecko.
• Correct logic error when talking with Brother Jason about formatting the harddrives.

Broken Hills:
-------------
• Corrected a few remaining instances where you could still go on a caravan despite Chad being in jail or dead.

Den:
----
• Fixed dialogue scripting error with Flick and the orphanage questline.
• Anna's diary now once again gives you 100xp for reading it.
• Fixed a nasty issue with the gang church attack that would cause Lara's gang to not initiate combat when reaching the church.

EPA:
----
• Agility increasing syringe gets properly removed when used. For real this time.
• Force fields on green level can no longer be shot through.
• Cleaning the right-most fan no longer gives double xp when cleaned.
• Time now passes (2 hours) when you improve your skills by learning from the NPCs you can recruit at the EPA.
• Doctors bag only requires one hypodermic needle to be created (rather than 2), as was intended.
• You can no longer repair the voice computer on the yellow level infinite times.

Gecko:
------
• Using Gamma Gulp on Lenny (when he's using his new, optional appearance) no longer gives a float of "Error".

Navarro:
--------
• Commander now correctly uses the male proto file rather than a female one.

New Reno:
---------
• You can no longer ask Renesco about heart health pointers until actually first learning about this Bishop
• Fixed crash when boxing or fighting in San Fran when wearing the new player appearance option
• Fixed instance where the pit boss claims you won McGee's fortune despite you not having done so.
• Some female Wright children were missing scripts
• Bill at Salvatore's bar is no longer partially stuck inside the bar counter.
• Eldridge no longer gets stuck when he goes back to get check on his dogs/
• Guards at Carlson's place will now recognize that he is dead (you'll have to leave the map first). Same at Westin's ranch.

NCR:
----
• Fixed issues with stealing from Dr. Jubilee's shelf in regards to the pills questline.
• Fixed dialogue scripting errors with Elise in regards to the slaver camp.
• Adding missing script to one of the peasants near the entrance.
• Rangers at the safe houses now properly react to you stealing from them.

Redding:
--------
• Little girl in Madame Madjeska's house was missing her script.
• Correct out of place dialogue line with Lou about giving Fannie the jet antidote.

San Francisco:
--------------
• You can no longer steal from the plant men at Sheng's hideout.
• NPCs at the Hubologist stash now react to you stealing from them.
• Companions now use the proper background (church background) when at the Hubologist stash.

Misc:
-----
• Installer fixes/tweaks:
-Properly handles Steam installation path if it's in the Program Files directory.
-Installer checks fallout2.cfg to make sure the music path is correct and will correct it if it isn't. This is especially important for GoG users.
-Armors for non-human characters would not get copied over unless the human armor option for companions was also chosen. This has been corrected.
-DirectX 9 is properly enabled for Vista+ setups so that messed up colors don't happen. Basically, things should work even better out of the box now.
• High resolution patch updated to V4.1.7.
• Sfall updated to v3.2.
• Kitsune's default combat setting is now unarmed, per her main abilities. Remember you can always change her (or any NPC) combat settings.
• Added a few minor lines for dumb characters where the game would incorrectly display normal INT lines.
• Fix crashes when using the new optional boxing animations.
• Fixed several instances where an NPC should attack you but instead would still initiate dialogue normally/do nothing if you were out of their sight range (blocked by a scenery piece, etc)
• Numerous typos, grammar, whitespace, and dialogue fixes.
• Several map issues fixed (missing blockers, standing inside scenery, holes in maps, etc)
• Many other issues that never got properly documented over the last 5 months.

And here I thought killap said he was retiring from doing Fallout mods at some point...

:decline: Those encounters are so awful, I made the mistake of not uninstalling that patch before my gf's first playthrough and she said FO1 was way better because 2 had such retarded content, when I asked what she meant she cited Kaga and Sulik's village. Unbiased proof that the restored content is terribad.

Having said that I'm totally reinstalling so I can play as a female redhead, still waiting for my :kfc: playthrough.

I thought Kaga was pretty funny, if only for the "KAAAAGAAAAAAAAA" scream the Chosen One does on the final encounter.

The toaster you can meet in EPA that literally just says shit Red Dwarf quotes represents the absolute worst the mod has to offer, though. Although EPA is redeemed somewhat by the pop rox + cola death.

I can't tell if I've played this version or not. I have a vague memory of checking NMA for updates a few months ago, but it was probably some time before the latest version. I'd try it if playing through Fallout 2 again didn't seem like such a massive amount of effort right now.

Whelp, it's been a while since I played through Fallout 2.

Edit: actually I probably won't because every time I try to use killap's patch kaga usually crashes the game.

These new locations on map and Karga were awful. You got fedex stuff or horrible things.
Though I forgot why I dropped it last time, maybe some techincal stuff and boredome?
Only good thing? Music in Primitive Tribe.

Still waiting for Hexer's Van Burren mod.

my gf's first playthrough and she said FO1 was way better because 2 had such retarded content

So if I wan't a mod to just fool around should I go with this one or with Megamod. Currently I can only use the GOG version of the game. I don't mind even more silly stuff.

Guys, which version of the Restoration Project, SFall and Unofficial Patch do I need to use together in order to manually control my npcs? I'm currently using the last versions of the Retoration Project and Unofficial Patch, as well as Sfall 3.3.7b's ddraw.dll (didn't overwrite the .ini file, doing so would fuck my game up), and changing the 'ControlPartyMembers' line to 1 does fuckall. I've been fiddling about with these 3 mods for the past 2 days, and I need some help, because frankly judging by how headache-inducing bad the A.I. acts, I don't want to get to the endgame without being able to manually control them.

EDIT: I FINALLY got it to work after following the steps posted here. Now my question is: how do I make my party members' skillpoints NOT stack with my own PC's skill points (in order to not make the combat ridiculously broken and easy come lategame)?

First, you don't need the unofficial patch. It might not hurt to install it, or it might fuck things up. Just install the Restoration Project.

Second, you need to get Sfall 3.7c, which is not quite official or finished but fixes a problem which will cause crashes 100% of the time when you try to leave certain areas (first one I know of is the Den Residential area) due to the way the Restoration Project does certain scripts which conflicts with a bug fix Sfall makes or something. Get it here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/axm816z4ncp0v3n/sfall_3.7c_crashfix_tmp.rar

(You can go searching through the Sfall or RP NMA thread if you don't trust a random DLL I'm handing out and want to find it yourself)

Extract Sfall 3.7b somewhere outside the Fallout 2 directory first, then extract the Sfall 3.7c file on top of it.

Third, you need to merge the RP's Sfall changes with Sfall 3.7's config file. This means doing a line-by-line comparison and copying over any changes from the RP to the Sfall config file. Once that is done you can copy all of your Sfall directory's contents into the Fallout 2 directory and overwrite the RP. Edit the config file to your liking but try not to mess with anything that the RP specifically changed unless you know what you are doing. If you don't do this properly then the RP can end up breaking in some way.

If you need I can upload my own merged config file. Everything with controlling party members appears to work correctly in terms of skill points in Sfall 3.7c when you have the config set up correctly. EDIT: Although you can spend your skill points on your allies.

I remember playing Fallout 2 before Fallout 1 and was bored out of my mind by the end. But when I then played Fallout 1 I thought it was simply one of the greatest RPGs I had ever played, and the only time I was so enthused about a PC game that I immediately wanted another playthrough (which I aborted early in the game because I felt I had gimped myself beyond recovery). However, getting back to Fallout 2...I couldn't imagine playing a restoration mod that restores cut content. Usually cut content is cut for good reason by the original developers. Would rather try something new and different like Fallout 1.5.

I feel like Fallout 2 is to Fallout what Army of Darkness is to Evil Dead. While the first one had its fair share of jokes, it still managed to maintain a relatively serious tone throughout, whereas in 2 I felt like the writers constantly tried to cram in as many references and jokes as they could. That having been said, between playing a Fallout with sometimes intrusive/tryhard jokes, and a Fallout with broken English that absolutely takes me out of the experience, I choose the former. Both are great games, and I absolutely applaud the makers of Resurrection for the work they've put in.

I am fairly certain the red-headed model was implemented separately on NMA's modding forums before being integrated into the RP. Your wish might be possible.

Finished both games one after another for the first time and both were a treat. In my opinion the only thing that both games needed was for you to be able to control the whole party's A.I. during combat. If only the first game had a mod similar to the 2nd one, I'd have had fonder memories of F1's lategame encounters (God, the whole Military Base level with the Brotherhood of Steel followers alongside me was a small nightmare).

I also love how there's so much content that you can not get to if you're not careful enough in the 2nd game. I barely scratched New Reno or the Military Base, for example. Will definitely replay it sometime soon.

Is there anything worthwhile in the restored content to install it, instead of the unofficial patch? Last time I played it, I got fed up with the Kaga encounters in the first one and quit.

The problem with the new female heads is that they seem to have screwed up the body as well. The original black buckerhead had the typical tribal slender body, but the other heads have this chunky doll-like body. This is especially noticeable on the blonde.

Just run away from Kaga in the first encounter. Once you get Sulik and Vic, it's payback time.
