Awesome news. Ex:Con was GOTY 2013 for me and d1p.

Performance should be considered this time though.

Modern-day portuguese are long past the senescence of their race, genetically superior portuguese stock died in the ultramar or colonized Brazil, where they fused with the best amerindian (the ones too tough to give a shit to some fag sickness) and african genetic stock. Thus it is only natural they suffer a sad form of self-hate rather than being proud of who they were, especially at the light of NWO anti-nationalist propaganda and the lethal dose of modernism they took between 1880-1950. They are a nation without a future. Maybe Azores and Madeira can scrap it once (if) they get out.

Portugal died in the '70s when they lost the colonies. They're either going to become Spanish porch-monkeys (improbable, Spain's falling apart) or will be slowly assimilated into Pan-Europe until they become generic europeans. ITZ would actually do them a world of good because it would shift european dynamics back into mediterranean-based civilization.

Portugal should't never separated from Brazil. Their own mistake, really. We lost our monocle, they lost their muscle.

The Lusiadas would be pretty god damn cool, its the portuguese own fault of not promoting it.

Pretty much.

Wtf are you on about?
Portuguese never had good genes. We had a handful of kings with vision, and a few brave warriors and navigators. But what these had conquered and built, all the other kings destroyed and spent on useless things. Portugal didn't die when we lost the colonies, we were dead a long time ago. Luis de Camoes was even writing our inevitable demise in The Lusiadas. (I agree that The Lusiadas lacks promotion, but it is STILL the most widely taught and analysed literary work in our schools). In fact, I believe we died at Ksar el-Kebir like another user said.
Portuguese were always self-loathing (see Fado) especially because of our ignorance. I blame it mostly on the Catholic religion. Nowadays, if you ask a Portuguese some names of our politicians they wouldn't know, but you if ask names of some football players they would spell their entire favorite team.

We lost our colonies like any other European country. It was inevitable. In the time of Descobrimentos, we were spreading thin, so later we couldn't keep them, especially such a huge country like Brazil. And if Azores and Madeira would gain independence from us, they would quickly become like Guinea-Bissau or Haiti, some poorest countries in the world. What they have built, especially Madeira with regards to tourism, was because of our monetary support.

And Europe is doomed, just like Portugal, especially if we keep all those immigrants coming in. And it would never shift politics back to the Mediterranean because this countries are full of corruption. It's not a coincidence that Portugal, Spain, Italy and Grecce have implemented the most severe austerity measures of all European countries.

On topic: I still have to get around to play the first game, but this is good news.

Here's a few ideas that no one brought up so far:
Expeditions: Slavs
It's the great migration period in Europe and you have to settle your new homeland, assimilating the natives in your Slav ways and genociding those who resist.

Expeditions: Hanno the Explorer
Sail over the frontier of the known world and discover many new places, from sardinia to carthage to western african coasts to britannia. Establish trade, found colonies and bring lots of riches back to the Phoenician metropolis.

For shits and giggles
Expeditions: Austrian Oak
You leave your homeland looking to achieve greatness with your great genes. You slowly get richer and more famous until you become the president of Kwa.:troll:

Avonaeon So since you have decided to descend once again and interact with the lowly commoners for a while: What about the Gamersgate version of the first game? Will we ever receive any patch past 1.5?

Didn't Gamersgate switch to selling Steam copies? Either way, I'll ask what's up with that. And I like interacting with you guys. It's always.. interesting

Performance should be considered this time though.

Absolutely. A lot of it had to do with it being our first game, so we learned along the way. Clandestine also taught us SO many things, we're able to be A LOT smarter about optimization this time around. I'm actually pretty excited about getting the game better looking, while also performing better.

Expeditions: Afghanistan

Choose your era! Choose your invading army! Manage your supply chains through some of the most inhospitable terrain on Earth! Engage in complex diplomacy! How many fighting seasons can you survive? Can you beat the all-time record?

Coming soon.

It will be different this time.

Obviously the sequel is going to be...

Expeditions: Reconquista

And not the Spanish one either. This one is about Mexicans taking back what is theirs.

Expeditions: Islamic State would be interesting too.

Anyone notice how these Kickstarted games that barely made budget seem to be the ones that turn out the best?

Anyway I enjoyed E:C strictly for what it was and will keep my Sauron's eye on it to see if the sequel raises the stakes enough for a purchase.

Avonaeon, congrats and excited about the news! Conquistador is one of my favourite KS RPGs.

Now, this time around, let's try to:

- Make a proper Fog of War instead of limiting the camera distance again.
- Add navigation outlines (with rendering priority!) to roads and navigable terrain (when within player's LOS) so it's clear where the player can thread on.
- Likewise, clear up the map view. All those vegetation and trees got in the way of the camera all the time. Get a cue or two from HOMM123 and JA2.
- Switch off or blend away tree tops and other structures that obstructed the view and the cursor.
- Give option to adjust camera FOV or orthogonal rendering so some of us don't need to muck around with camera angles all the time.
- Perhaps just a little bit more extensive and exploratory battlefields every now and then so there is an element of exploration-reward-vs-risk?
- More non-combat skill use scenarios, please!

Would rather have a Marco Polo kind of adventure. Or Os Lusíadas - aka the portuguese Odyssey that media never gave a damn about.

But Expeditions: Odysseus would be damn cool too.
As awesome as "Os Lusíadas" is, I'm not sure if the story would fit in this game. I mean, you could focus around India, which would be cool, but apart from that, the sea travels don't quite fit in a turn-based RPG.

Set this in the 19th Century and get voice acting from Sean Connery and Michael Caine and I'm in.

I don't think the original game was that impressive. The story was not suitably epic and there were no romances. The combat was decent, but there were a lot of recycled assets and not a lot of unit variety.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
We all know it's probably going to be some silk road crap or American indian wilderness.

What it should be is Conquistador: Modern Warfare. Only suitable direction to take the series for profit. Bonus $$$ for switching to FPS with RPG elements. Or better yet Conquistador: Colonial Effect, Asari porn optional DLC content.
