Weird, for me not giving it full attention usually resulted in losing my ship.[/i]

What's the penalty for using a ship? Doesn't insurance cover most of it?

Well, some time ago insurance was higher so you could create cheap suicide ships and not lose any money. Now that's not possible and nonetheless insurance only covers ship price, good equipment can cost five times more than ship itself.

Also I've lost hefty sum for pvping with stat boost implants.

And people think full loot is harsh.

Only the cost of the ship, not it's fitting and that usually costs much more.

Also the good insurance itself costs money. Plus really good ships (tier 2 or 3) don't get recognized for their full price by the insurance, so you end up getting like 5 million back on losing something that cost 80-160 million for just the ship. Depending on what you do to get money and how good you're at it, that could be a week or more of grinding to get that much money.

By the way, the quality of the new Character Models does look AMAZING. I've never seen anything that looked this good in any game. Could be the new standard for MMOs/RPGs. Check this dude's skill at recreating some chars if you're at all interested: http://www.vimeo.com/user5614315/videos

I'm somewhat satisfied in how utterly gay the new portrait turned out. If you see H.M.S Porn Stache flying around don't forget to gank like there's no tomorrow.

I thought about doing a joke pic but decided to play it safe and generic.

There's some pretty hilarious ones on the EVE forums though.

Bump, because I feel like talking about EVE.

I did the "reactive for 4 hours to buy a PLEX" thing the other day, but unfortunately it turned out I was 300 mil short to buy one. xD
Anyway, I had a blast with the new face gen. It's really impressive, although there's far too few clothing options. At least you can still make hooded, grim-looking Amarr. What annoyed me though, is that it's constantly loading stuff from HD even if you make minor changes. Takes like 10 seconds to adjust boob size.

So, anyone still playing? Worth to re-sub for a month to check out the new features or does it still get boring after a few days?

Eve has way better facegen than any RPG.

I always found Eve was a lot more fun to talk about than to actually play, although I did play the game in two seperate stints for around 9-12 months all up (one at release and again a couple of years ago).

    FTFY.

Seriously, based on what CCP is saying their ultimate plans are for EVE, it could very well turn into the most amazing gameplay experience ever. It's just not there yet, so actually going through the motions right now is mind numbing.

The only thing it really needs IMO is to give more tactical play to individual ship-to-ship fighting. There's a good strategic layer both in ship loadout and in party-vs-party dynamics. But in the moment-to-moment choices as a pilot there isn't much. And obviously it can't go the twitch route for action fun.

This is all based on like two months of playing a few years back so don't jump down my throat too terribly if I'm wrong. Now I would like to be proven wrong, as that would motivate me to play Eve again.

I guess running around as a small party of pirates would be tactical for every pilot, though. On that note, if a few dedicated Codexers want to run as a pirate group taking on larger odds, I'd be tempted to sub and join.

it needs direct ship controls with a newtonian physics model for at least all smaller ships.

The chargen really is fun to play with, though. Here's my attempt at making Morena Baccarin's character Anna from V.

No, that would not work given that it's an MMO. Would cause wayyy too much server load.

There has already been one, Jumpgate, and a new version of it should be coming out soon, Jumpgate: Evolution.

Meh. While Eve combat can be painfully boring, I do appreciate that it's at least somewhat tactical and point&click, not a twitch shooter. It could just use some more interactivity (at least in PvE). And the UI needs a major overhaul.

The UI is currently being overhauled but I doubt it can be called 'major'. [IMG]

I'm not sure what you mean - are you referring to the extreme amounts of traffic in systems like Jita? Because those are (were at least) already laggy as hell.

Just any situation, because the servers are built to handle a certain amount of server load. In total the servers have to handle the entire population of all the shards, and they probably don't have extra room.
