On another subject, I was wondering if anyone new someone that could create .flc EFS compatible image files for modding the game. The man that created the Reality Mod that Emperor Wars was built from made the cool .flc image files for the Knight unit, the Muster, Brother Battle, the Almatheans, and Emperor Alexius and the Cyber-Lord. However, of all the modding I can do to the game I completely and inept and incompetent of created these image files. When I attempted to find a way to contact the guy that created those cool images for the Reality Mod he was unreachable. Anyways, if you know of anyone that might be able to do this I would like to take some of the images from Holistic Designs and create some more detail unites for Emperor Wars 1.5c. Any thoughts or ideas on making this happen would be great.
You don't ask for much, do you? Took half an hour of digging through Usenet posts from 1994 to discover how the fuck you make one of those things. It turns out to be pretty straightforward. I can make any GIF or PostScript file you want into a .flc, but I have no idea if it's an EFS compatible flc. I attached a GIF I converted to flc. Change the extension to .flc from .txt (The Codex has weird rules for what you can and can't upload) and see if it works. The GIF was 660x440, so that may be a problem. If it's too large, give me an example you'd like converted and I'll test it out. Other formats are likely possible, but will take some finagling.

In my plethora of image files I found this one just so all of my fellow Noble Lords will know what they are fighting for.
The Holistic Design Books had detailed maps of all of the worlds and that is what I used along with specific mentions in the background stories to place all the new nobles and fiefs on all of the planets for the Emperor Wars Mod.
In the updated B2 map for Emperor Wars Mod 1.5c the Hazat will also have a starport on B2 I noticed a reference to it in my re-reading of the source books I don't know how I missed if the first time.
Perhaps, the planet mape development was extensive and it took me over a month, I want to continue to add the ones I missed in Emperor Wars Mod 1.5c. An example, I just found near the end of the Merchant's of the Jumpweb was that all the houses but Li Halan have holdings on Leagueheim, but it is not mentioned in any of the Imperial Survey books but the Al-Malik. If anyone fine something that was left out please let me know and I will put add them to the map in the next update.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'll do my best to stay in the spirit of things, so here goes:
*** EMPEROR MEHMED'S GUIDE TO REPLACING EOFS .FLC IMAGES ***
All you need is a program capable of creating .flc files with a custom color palette, because EOFS uses its own custom palette. This one:
If the palette is wrong the colors on the image will get all messed up in-game. The image itself should preferably be scalable to 175x150 pixels in size.
That's all there is to it!
God, I'm handsome.
**LAZY BASTARD'S GUIDE TO EMPEROR MEHMED'S GUIDE TO REPLACING .FLC IMAGES**
One application capable of creating flic files is Animation Shop 2. It comes bundled with Paint Shop Pro 6 which you can download from here.
When installing PSP uncheck everything except AS files.
Unless you want to witness '99 Paint Shop Pro's suite full potential, in which case feel free to leave everything checked.
Run Animation Shop and create a new animation. Set the width to 175 and the height to 150.
Here I also selected transparent canvas background, but you can set some opaque color instead, it doesn't matter anyway since transparency doesn't seem to be supported with .flc.
With the empty animation canvas in place, insert the appropriately-sized masterpiece you wish to use for your game. If the image is too big you can check the "Scale frames to fit" box and AS will automatically scale the image whilst preserving the aspect ratio.
In the example above, I'm using an exclusive GIF - courtesy of Vertab Nukks - that you just might see in one of the future installments of your favorite EOFS mod. You might also notice that this image is not appropriately sized, it is slightly narrower than it should be. That's not a problem, because there is a half-naked woman in it.
I guess I could have stretched the image to fit perfectly, but that would make this fairly big-boned maiden even bigger.
Once the image is inserted, make sure there is only 1 frame in the animation. If there are more frames, delete them.
Well, delete them, unless of course you're creating an animation (like those rotating ships and planes from the game). If this is the case, just add the rest of the animation images to complete the animation. You can set the display duration of each frame by right-clicking on it, just make sure there are no empty frames, because your masterpiece might flicker.
Finally, save the animation as Autodesk .flc file. I usually keep the highest quality, but you can change it if you wish. What's really importatnt is that you save the flic with the beautiful EOFS color palette.
To do this, you'll need a palette (.pal) file. Now, I would have added this file as an attachment to this post, but the add attachment button keeps eluding me. Had you installed Paint Shop Pro in the first step of this guide, you could now create the .pal file from the GIF Emperor Mehmed supplied at the begining, but since i told you not to install it, we'll have to do it the hard way. Real men's way.
PAL file appears to be just a fancy text file, so I copied its contents to this Spoiler box below. All you have to do is copy the text from the spoiler box and paste it in notepad (there should be one empty line at the end of the file! You'll get an error otherwise.), then save the file as EOFS.pal.
Once you have the pal file, you can save your .flc, and then use it in-game.
One last thing - this is a trial version of AS and it will expire in 30 days, but I'm sure you'll manage to find plenty of ways (with variable legal status) to extend that trial period. Also, I ran this under Windows XP SP3 and everything works. If you're using some other windows, like millenium, it's possible you'll encouter some OS related issues with AS. If you do, you can always try a different version of Paint Shop Pro, or find some other piece of software that can do the job.
I tip my hat to disk failure for solving this image problem for me, because of him I have accomplished more in radically updating EFS in one night than I have in a year.
Start a game and click on a Church to see new images of :
Brother Battle
Almalthean
Eskatonic
Temple Avesti (Inquisitors)
Bishops
ArchBishops
Research Economics (it takes two turns) to see:
Shield (All New Scraver Guild Units - Criminals)
Factory (Supreme Order of Engineers)
Starport (New Charioteer Pilot and Muster Edificer images)
I have added so much I know I left stuff out in this post, and in the next update next are going to be a major increase in alien units.
Have fun and I hope to hear some feedback on what you thing about it.

Our recent liberation of Malignatius from the Li Halan Zealots has went better than expected with their forces redirected to Rampart to deal with the encroaching influence of the League they were completely caught off guard. However, Amita Li Halan, the Countess of Llangh and overseer of the Di Long Fiefs on the northern portion of the continent of Alakshak continues to hold out against our forces. The remoteness of her holdings has kept her safe from the bulk of our ground troops, but soon our House Fleet will arrive and her defenses will be reduced to ash from our Dreadnaught "Alexis" orbital bombardment. Although, I am in a merciful mood, and have offered that weakling Flavius Li Halan a chance to talk some sense into the Countess to withdraw from the planet within the next four years. This is not a sign that I may be going soft in my old age, but more so that I need the "Alexis" elsewhere rather than sending more Li Halan to meet their Pancreator. Hopefully, the Li Halan with make the correct choice in the matter.

One at a time. That's a part of the problem: if a player stalls, we can go for weeks without any progress if no-one knows the password.
Plus, player order IS important: a little diplomatic incident happened because Rebels occupied one of my holdings and House Li Halan decided to "free" it without asking. The Rebels attacked my holding in the last "phase" of the past turn, the li Halan conquered the Farm, my troops freed the Farm (and the nearby Factory) from the Li Halan later in the same turn.
Kind of a mess, but it's given if you decide to play EoFs.

Lord Flavius Li Halan has convinced his cousin Amita Li Halan, the Countess of Llangh and overseer of the Di Long Fiefs to abandon her holdings on Malignatius. Now, we can continue to direct or forces to continue the indigenous relocation efforts from the slums of Cadiz. The half finished constructs of the mega-cities that the Second Republic built on Cadiz in anticipation of it becoming the Embassy world for the Vau have revealed many treasures from that era. When the Vau instead chose Vril-Ya as their Embassy world to humanity, the House Decados have now become the indirect beneficiaries of that decision all of these centuries later. Although, over time gangs and minor houses have occupied blocks this abandoned megalopolis becoming a menial obstacle for our forces but one that must be dealt with nevertheless in order to seize the lost technologies right under their very nose that they neither understand or appreciate.
Our envoys have also conveyed to me that mutual transport passage agreements through the Criticorum and Malignatius jumpgates have been ratified with House Al-Malik, and our mining operations on Sutek are now at full capacity with regular deliveries scheduled to Sutek Agora.

As I am reading the EFS Books again, I am coming up with all kinds of new units to include in the next update of Emperor Wars now that I can add new pictures thanks to "disk failure" but one that I had completely forgot about were "Husks". Husks are Zombies in the EFS Universe, as of right now I have only identified them on Pyre but they seem to be elsewhere as well, so the "The Walking Dead meets Emperor of the Fadings Suns" and you all thought Symbiots were a headache. :D
Finally, I have completed a 27 page New Unit User Guide for Emperor Wars, it is filled with details, artwork, and back stories about all of the new units.
Hope you all enjoy and let me know what you think!
