Wonder why so many people rate it 5 stars?
Apparently there's an in-app rating:

Choosing 5 stars will directly transmit the rating to Google App-store, 1-4 stars will open a feedback window to the developers.

“We're always looking at new ways to gather player feedback so that we can continue to improve our games. The 'rate this app' feature in the Google Play version of Dungeon Keeper was designed to help us collect valuable feedback from players who don't feel the game is worth a top rating. We wanted to make it easier for more players to send us feedback directly from the game if they weren't having the best experience. Players can always continue to leave any rating they want on the Google Play Store."

EA Shill explains their raep shilling.

Even got on BBC frontpage.

Peter Molyneux, who designed the original 1997 Dungeon Keeper game, said he too was shocked when he saw the time it would take to dig out some sections of the map.

"I felt myself turning round saying, 'What? This is ridiculous. I just want to make a dungeon. I don't want to schedule it on my alarm clock for six days to come back for a block to be chipped,'" he told the BBC.

Nah, to be fair to Peter Molyneux he's never used one of his old games to cash in. The guy might not be able to make good games anymore, but he's not looking to cheat people.

Nah, to be fair to Peter Molyneux he's never used one of his old games to cash in. The guy might not be able to make good games anymore, but he's not looking to cheat people.
Because he doesn't have any of his old IPs, because he sold his first company to EA and let them ruin it and then sold his second company to Microsoft and let them ruin it.

Molyneux has called Godus a game and the only thing that separates DK from Godus is the lack of MTX. Godus is a "game" if you are content with games where all you do is clickity click things like a doofus.

So it's better for a player to do nothing for 24h, waiting for one block to dig out, than click and click... dunno... play the fucking game?

The difference is you tap the screen once every 24h in DK and once every .1 seconds in Godus. In the end, all you are doing is mindlessly clicking the balls. Neither are really games, DK is just more disgusting.

Inb4 EA reports profit of hundreds of millions from this.
It probably cost fuck-all to develop so I'm sure they'll make a profit.
The damage to the already tarnished EA brand is probably going to be more costly in the long run, though.

You simply click the game to see it's shitty reviews. Don't want to play the shitty game? That's fine, I have a rather polarizing solution to your problems.

[Refuse to play the game DLC: 19.99$]

See, guys? Aren't you happy that we don't live in the Syndicate / Shadowrun universe?

They're not aiming these games at people who care or probably even are aware of the EA brand so I don't think so. Nobody sane thinks highly of EA these days anyway. Who's still not convinced that EA puts out shit won't suddenly see the light because of this abomination. Business as usual, basically.

Yet here we are, talking about how awful the game is and how much EA sucks, even though neither of us is going to play it. EA said they want to improve their reputation, but this fiasco certainly isn't going to make that any easier. That 4th golden poo is looking pretty safe by now.
If the game had been named "Cave Boss" or something else nobody would have cared, but they deliberately decided to splap the "Dungeon Keeper" label on their generic pay2win game to get it some attention, and that appears to have backfired spectacularly.
