Ed123 has gotten too old for this shit, so I'm running the E3 thread this year. Come for the trailers, stay for the mockery! I'm not going to make as exhaustive an OP as Ed used to, but this thread will be updated with links to the press conference streams and whatever other stuff I can be bothered to give a fuck about.

FWIW small size publisher Devolver Digital also doing press conference (10PM, June 11 PDT). Probably be devoured by Beth conference.

About

The Swords of Ditto is a compact action RPG that creates a unique adventure for each new hero of legend in the relentless fight against the evil Mormo. Explore a delightful but dangerous overworld, brave menacing dungeons, and improve your hero in a charming village, during your quest to overcome the evil that plagues the island. Unleash the mystical Sword of Ditto and grab a co-op friend for an unforgettable adventure filled with delightful characters, extraordinary loot, and heroic battles!

Features
  • Unique Adventures Linked Together: Each adventure becomes its own legend, both distinct from those that came before it and part of a heroic legacy that bind together. The deeds, successes, and failures of each hero’s adventure have implications for those that follow including the ability to find weapons and recover loot from history’s fallen heroes.
  • Solo & Cooperative Adventuring: Battle Mormo and her evil armies alone or summon a brave friend to take up arms alongside you in local co-op mode. Fear not, even less experienced adventurers will find help from their fellow heroes through the magic of a good old-fashioned revival hug!
  • Weapons, Items, & Stickers: Wield the traditional sword and bow combo alongside the decidedly less traditional vinyl record Frisbee, magic golf club, and colossal foot from the heavens to put Mormo and her legions back on their heels. Collect and equip stickers to boost up your hero and add perks to their gear to become powerful enough to banish the wicked sorceress.
  • Main Quests and Secret Side Missions: Approach your legend however you see fit by battling through dungeons in any order, completing side missions through dark caverns and deep wells, or confront Mormo right from the start for the ultimate challenge.

Besides PoE2, Bard's Tale IV and BattleTech, will there be any other games of particular interest to the Codex at E3?

I don't think so.

I suppose we won't see any surprise showing for Obsidian's game.

Maybe some Euro rpg will show up.

Mount & Blade 2.

And yeah, probably some RPGs from Focus Home and THQ Nordic, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Perfect World and Cryptic Studios announced Magic the Gathering MMORPG:

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios Announce Magic: The Gathering RPG

Developers Behind Neverwinter Unveil New Title Based on Wizards of the Coast’s Strategy Card Game

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--Perfect World Entertainment Inc., a leading publisher of online games, and Cryptic Studios, today announced the development of a brand new RPG based on Magic: The Gathering, the acclaimed strategic card game by Wizards of the Coast. The AAA RPG is currently being developed from the ground up for both PC and console. Additional details and the game’s official title will be revealed at a later date.

The world’s most popular strategy card game, Magic: The Gathering transforms players into Planeswalkers, powerful mages who can travel between planes, cast spells and summon mythical creatures. The beloved trading card game has over 20 million fans across more than 70 countries, and is available in 11 languages. Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios’ new RPG will allow fans of the game to fully immerse themselves in the Multiverse, the rich fantasy world in which Magic: The Gathering takes place.

“It’s Magic: The Gathering like you’ve never experienced before,” said Bryan Huang, CEO of Perfect World Entertainment. “We are ecstatic about the direction of the game Cryptic has been shaping. It’s always been a dream of ours to bring Magic’s Planeswalkers to a modern RPG.”

The upcoming game extends the licensing partnership between Perfect World Entertainment, Cryptic Studios and Wizards of the Coast – a relationship that has resulted in 15 million Neverwinter players and growing.

“This game is an exciting part of Wizards of the Coast’s Magic Digital Next initiative to extend gameplay beyond the tabletop, and we’re proud to work with the talented team at Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios to bring the Magic: The Gathering Multiverse to life,” said David Schwartz, Wizards of the Coast Vice President of Digital Publishing.

Cryptic Studios is currently ramping up production in its Los Gatos headquarters for the development of the game.

“Everything from the graphics to the gameplay is being targeted for a truly unique AAA game,” said Stephen D’Angelo, CEO of Cryptic Studios. “We’re thrilled to provide Magic fans with an opportunity to explore the game’s worlds and characters through an entirely new lens. Get ready to embark on a brand new journey.”

Annnnd still no use for the AD&D license / ruleset / world on an actual RPG and not MMORPG shit by Wizards of the Coast. Great to see them continuing to do fuck all with that property.

But, they've announced what's bound to be another shit kebab of a MMORPG for MtG! The excitement is just palpable.

I didn't know Emil Pagliarulo became Design Director of Bethesda Game Studios.
Their games are going to be even shittier, then.
I wonder what the fuck happened to him. He wrote and designed the Dark Brotherhood questline for Oblivion which was, by a mile, the best content in that game. And then he comes out with the piles of shit that are Fallout 3, 4 and Skyrim. Did he hit his head on a rock or something?
