I hope Earth Spirit is added to CM so he can get the nerfs he deserves.

By the way, my Dota 2 experience completely changed after I started playing tournaments and leagues in competitive teams with fixed roles, strategies and of course voice communication. My MMR is sky rocketing and I'm enjoying this game so much more than I did before.

I really recommend starting a team with your friends if possible.

So far it's mostly social shit which I couldn't care less about. I guess new players will be happy about the reworked interface, I gotta admit the hero picker was probably complete ass for someone who doesn't know the game.

As long as Source 2 makes the game load faster and gets rid of those start-of-game hiccups while heroes are loaded into RAM, it's all gravy.

You can download the workshop tools and play an alpha version of Source 2 version, I tested it and it doesn't hiccup when heroes are loaded.

If Dota 2 can bring back the WC3 custom map scene I'll be so fucking happy.

On a related note, there are so many popular WC3 maps that could become standalone games. It's weird that the indie game industry hasn't used any of these fantastic ideas yet: Impossible Bosses, Enfos, competitive TDs, Footman Frenzy, Vampirism, X Hero Siege, etc.

Even Starcraft Broodwar had some really awesome maps. Golem Wars and MTG: Magus were awesome free for all battles, and people came up with some really inventive uses of the triggers to make all kinds of interesting games, even mini RPGs.

Let's just hope valve don't fuck it up...
Could still turn out to be some "buy the custom mode" crap.

If it turns out to be like wc3, then :bounce:

My impression of Source 2 is that it has ridiculous input lag.

Also, the map proportions are all fucked, mid lane is huge, the ramp distance seems off somehow, wider.

I think that it has a lot to do with the fact that unit scaling is somewhat different in source 2, so a lot of hero models are slightly smaller than they should be, which makes the map look strange. Another issue could be a difference in perspective between engines.

Source 2 runs significantly better on my PC using the DX11 executable(common/dota2 beta/game/bin/win64), it's not very stable though. Also it actually is more responsive than OG Source and controlling multiple units is way better.

Yeah, seems that valve did well. Finally a successor to WC3.
Love it so much. CUSTOM GAMES!!!

even though i would advise playing standard dota games in normal client for now, map is fucked up for some reason, and some attack/cast points are different. hope this gets fixed.

What do you guys think about Overthrow? We have played around 40 games now (2-Team, and 3-Team) and love it. Wonder why valve never made such fun mods for events...

Couldnt figure out a proper way to monetize them.

Ye, that's pretty much the only explanation. I am glad they made it right this time. Also the tools provided by valve are fucking awesome.
Looking forward to all the new mods, and remakes of old WC3 maps.
