Telchines and Mermaids.

I've read a book with that title, once. I love the concept (undead greek spectres that do not know they're dead), but they seem to be kinda difficult to employ properly. EA Lemuria with more options and RoS access, if you survive long enough to get it.

EA Atlantis had small changes to balance (still no research monkey though) MA Atlantis graduated from shit tier to barely playable tier (Research monkeys! ON COASTAL FORTS!) LA Atlantis gets cheaper stuff.

Starspawns are mostly unchanged, bar higher res costs for Meteoritic iron (as now stock Iron rusts). Gotta test UW Pangaea and Mermen.

It seems that now UW nations had a boost (easier indies, more resources, domspread limited, more options), but I guess we will need some patching to see some proper balance and some holes filled.

The new items are hilarious, though.

Poor EA R'lyeh is still the same castrated, useless self, it seems :( Shame, it was easily the weakest nation of the entire Dominions and it just lies there untouched.

Therodos has living human troops, if you build a fort on land. Might have to be on coast. Not that it's easy to use those, since they also have population killing dominion.

The human troops notably include a sacred (20g, p. basic stats, berserk on bless). And the Melias are also recruitable from any fort, on land there's also a human mage. A wide variety of things to work with in the nation, not sure how well they handle the gold loss yet though. Poploss is 1% per candle it seems. And they seem to get way less freespawn than Asphodel, Lemuria or Ermor.
Their biggest problem is they have pitiful amounts of money, and the freespawn doesnt remotely make up for it. It should be playable when you do everything right, but nothing stronger than that.

The Conj-8 Telkhine summon is p. crazy though. 40-odd Hp is their only weakness pretty much, crazy amount of paths, they also give a stronger version of Foul Vapors on autocast. Not quite Grigori-level good but not too far away. While for Therodos it might be more of a saving grace if they make it so far, Berytos gets the spell too which is a huge boost. Also Telkhine hero exists for both nations, though they dont have the poison autospell.

For once they added a new nation that isnt op. Its quite weak in fact, conj8 summons are great sure, but they wont get that far most of the time.

It's a great nation as a disciple though, when their big problem is totally removed. They still have half the usual population in cap, but are otherwise fine income-wise then.

Too many to list really.
Grigori definitely, some better looking tartarians, Teteo Inan, Legion of Gods, King of Frozen Bones, Ryujin, Dai Oni, First Couple, Grandfather Earth, Daughter of Typhoon, Seraph, Great Mother, Caveman, Belly Maw Horror, Golden Idol, Gelatinous Cube, Hoburg Power Armour from NatGen,
Unfrozen Lord,
Peasant.

Good suggestions.

If it's got some big and fancy sprite that isn't too close to anything else, it's probably in. Peasant is a good call, but mod units are out.

Angels have very creative sprites. Most of Hinnom and the later jewish nations have very good stuff.

Caelum: Fravashi, some Devas. Would place the Eagle King just for completion, sadly most of the smaller sprites are not that impressive.

C'tis: Sobek Sacred Guard, Scorpion Man (it's a summon, I know).

Pangaea: Pans, some of the more detailed Minotaur and Centaur sprites (i like MA, dunno why) and Centaurides for people with specialized tastes. Maenads are a tad too small, methinks.

Atlantis: Basalt Kings, Angakoks. No other sprites are detailed or nice enuff, IMHO.

Xibalba: Bacabobs, Onaqui.

Fomoria: the King and one of the Cursed Fomorians.

Hinnom: too much stuff to choose from!

Then the Dai-Oni, the big Lankan demons, the Celestial summons of the monkey kingdoms, the Ensi from Ur, Polypal Mothers, Aboleths, Pearl Kings, the Agarthan Oracles in the ages....

I was thinking of increasing the size of smallest units. If there's enough room to double their height and width and it's without interpolation/aliasing/softening, it looks quite good.

Most of the pretenders obviously, demon lords rock too, Grigori and other angels, vampire lords, arch devils, ice devils, heliophagi, elemental royalty, tartarians (one for each type), wraith lord and some uniques for nations maybe, and obviously DOOM HORRORS. There are hundreds of fun sprites tho, how many are we allowed to have?

Does the AI still suck horribly?

Compared to Dom3, a lot. Pretender designs a bit improved, better use of blesses and a lot if small improvements.

Still, AI is still dumb and works on outnumbering you. Fun if you like some kind if games, I presume. What would you like from Dom AI? Being similar to the players's wit is impossible.

The only way they could really improve AI is to make several individual scripts, for each nation, for basically every turn of the game and even then every tiny thing would throw a wrench into the machine. There's just too many options, luck factors and hard counters to make it competitive in terms of decision making.

You can't git gud at the game if you play sp-only. A lot of stuff just doesn't work against AI, but is extremely effective against mortals, and vice versa. Basically, AI is just there to replace players who quit the game in the mid of pbem.
