It's just extra money. Probably they're developing some features for engine at the same time.
If they change all the character portraits to animu faces, they can market it as a jRPG.
Didn't Japanese made their fan-translation of it anyway?

However considering that Japanese have complained that FFXV demo is too hard, too long and they have no idea what to do - Divinity has poor chances to succeed there. Unless "core" JRPG fans in Japan treat Final Fantasy just like we treat Bioware or Bethesda games.

Just fucking release it already

Fall 2015 lol.

I don't think they can "lose" too much if the console port does not perform as intended. I'd say it's just extra money at this point, which can only be good. I'm wary about all this "one rpg per year" and opening studios in other countries stuff, though.

Only question now is: Will they succumb to consoleretardation.
Right now they are doing two separate UI and game which was made for PC first with it's controls ported to consoles.

If they will do DOS2 as multiplatform title from start then you can say bye bye for proper controls because i somehow doubt they will again do different UI.

"Why split pipeline for UI when we can make it cheaper making it one UI for all versions !!!"
Right now they have my trust but that trust rides on fickle horse.

That's right, because when the multi-platform Divinity 2 came out, the PC version was hobbled by the console-styled controles and interface. ... oh wai-

Swen replied to the concern about the controls on his blog, and he seemed bewildered at the idea that they would do a single interface.

Tbh, I don't see how we could even consider having the same interface on platforms that are so different. We already made them very different when making DKS.

"We're going for October, so it might be November". Heh, not as confident as your CEO, eh?

If they want to grab the most casual console dollars they really do need to hit October though. November has several big budget releases and then likely at somepoint in that timeframe Sword Coast Legends.

It would be quite something if they would release buggy version of game that was already patched up. I know it is EE but EE edition most of the time is building upon something you know well.

Whenever you change something, you also break something. Law of software development.

If only there was a way to avoid it - like something involving encapsulated objects with well defined interfaces...
Eh, don't mind my stupid fantasies.

Am I the only one, who thinks about James Rebhorn, whenever I see Swen's face?

Ghent-Invite.png

We’ve just returned from showing Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition at E3 and you already want more! Apparently it’s not enough to watch gaming celebrities adventure through Rivellon: you want to get in and get your gauntlets dirty. Well, we admire your determination, so we’re delighted to invite whatever brave testers can make it to our HQ in Ghent, Belgium, to grapple with the game. If you can get to Larian Studios, we’d love you to come over and try out new our gameplay modes, rewritten story, and brand new quests!

– We will start public playtesting Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition in our Ghent office on the morning of June 29th, and will carry on until July 10th.

– Interested? Just mail playtesting@larian.com with your name, age (18+ only), email address and previous experience with Divinity: Original Sin for a chance to see the Enhanced Edition before anyone else!

– Players must be available for one full day between June 29th and July 10th.

– Players are required to be in the office for a full day, arriving at 10:00 and leaving at 16:00.

– All testing will take place using console controllers.

We hope to see you soon, Source Hunters!
