Well they didn't have AI Personalities when I started these characters. I could have chosesn Loyal of course, so the characters always agree, but somebody recommended that it is more fun with random. More fun my ass.

I've switched over to another one after they got patched in.
You have to either accept it and roll with it or just ignore the feature/choose loyal.

Pretty much this. I think it is fun that we have random conversations about stuff, and the characters get different traites based upon that (pragmatic, heartless, materalistic etc), but to miss out on quests just because I lose a minigame is not good design. Of course I could save scumm, but I don't like that mechanic and avoid it if I can. I had to leave the archelogist guy in the woods, because my bitch didn't want to risk her life escorting him back. What the fuck? What kind of hero are you?

Just save those quests for the next playthrough, you big baby.

It's a dumb feature. Plain and simple. Having a character that you are playing and controlling 'argue' with you is stupid. Espiciially through RPGS. Thankfully, there's an option to basically turn that stupid broken retarted non RPG feature off.

There won't be next playthrough. :smug: I have such a huge backlog, I'm happy if I can finish a game.

It's more fun, but you lose on quests. And because you don't get another quest when you lose it, you are simply only in trouble for no reason whatever. In addition, random don't feel right for proper personality of characters.

You need one of those recent turbo computers to run it or it will like like a piece of poo. I get nauseous of the 25 FPS I get on low settings, with a 2010 comp. Poorly optimized, Diablo 3 or even Titan Quest looked better and ran at 60 FPS highest here.

Don't have many problems with my late 2010 system either (Phenom 2 X4, GTX460). It runs at 35-60 fps on high-ish settings.
There is a known performance problem on some 32bit systems though. Also it seems relatively memory intensive, 64bit OS with 4GB+ is definitely recommended.
Larian said that they are still working at figuring out what's going on with the issues on 32bit systems, so if you are on one of those, it might yet get better.

Runs perfectly fine on my XP, but has occasional crashes while loading due to memory. It's nothing bad though, only happens once every hour and a half at most.

I love how you can sequence-break a lot of the midgame without noticing. Did the mines long before Hiberheim because I thought removing the barrier to the witch's house would take me until I've cleared the entire forest area. In Hiberheim itself, I did the castle and the Boreas fight before the encounter with that Immaculate high priestess chick, and only after that encounter I noticed how the game assumes you'd do it before going to the castle as you get a spell that can open the front gate (I saved the bunny from the snowman and the bunny told me that by jumping a cliff I can get in the castle... so I used my pyramids to get inside!).

So much for all those faggots who claim the game's progression is almost linear. All it took me to get to the mines before Hiberheim was beating the orc encounter that blocks the approach to the mines; if you beat that, you'll likely get a levelup and the goblins on the way to the mine aren't that strong, they're more easy XP. It's even perfectly viable to entirely skip Hiberheim, I think, if you can complete the game without finishing the white witch quest.

If you must have a conversation go a certain way, and assuming you've set 'no ai' for your main character, you can just initiate the conversation with your ai character. I'm assuming that this is teaching granny how to suck eggs, but just in case anyone hasn't worked it out and is spending an inordinate amount of time saving/loading to get the 'right' outcomes.

Also, the ai personalities seem bugged to me - I set rascal on one game, and was a bit surprised to see the ai admonish the fish thief for stealing stuff when you first hit the marketplace. I've had similar wtf moments at other points, and I think at this stage it may just be better to play with ai turned off and larp both characters.

Ok, so I'm near the end of the game, but...

The door in the Source Temple tells me I need more stones, and to consult the Teller of Secrets. However... I've never encountered a teller of secrets, and I only have three portals open in my Homestead (henchmen room, bedrooms, and elemental room), despite having found 8 or so Star/Blood stones.

Ideas? Missing one key thing?

Have you

stopped the fireball assault on the Homestead?

As long as the nukes go around flying, they block all further portals from unlocking

Thanks, I completely forgot about this area once I saw 'Invulnerable' and bailed hours and hours ago, assuming I'd find something to dispel it in time.

Ideas? Missing one key thing?

ToS tells you locations if you cant find them. And remember that you need
to USE the bloodstones before they become starstones.
. I had too many in the end, never used them all.

Thanks for this as well, I've been hoarding them for the classic 'just-in-case' moment.

I made it all the way to what I think is the last gate to the 'end' of the game, currently level 20, and I missed one key event that completely opened up a ton of 'progression' things that I've been missing out on and wondering about the whole time.
As soon as I destroyed the large Blood Stone to halt the attacks on the End of Time, all of the portals opened up for me all at once.
Sure as well woulda been useful to me earlier... and I finally met the Codex :D

:retarded:

My two newer computers run on Windows 7 but my other desktop is still on WinXP and I still use it most of the time, because I like XP. Let's shock you more, I have a laptop with Windows 98 and another with Windows 95.

You did pick random which is kinda your fault, some of the personalities behave like a Paladin or Chaotic Evil or something. It kinda makes them like an NPC companion or something.

But it's fun, so stop nitpicking (tm)

The Larian fanboys itt are as bad as those who white knight Bethesda and Bioware.

To quote a great man
lol who cares re: ... story
either no one, in which case they shouldn't put any resources into it, or a lot of people, which means it's important enough to do well

As I said, they should have held on to Rhianna's script doctoring. :)

If you can give Lubuntu a spin. An old xp laptop i had here laying around looks like something new with this OS.
Really light, really quick. I have it on dual boot, but i haven't bothered with xp ever since.

I've just beaten
that fucking witch elevyn
and it was an amazing, thrilling fight. took me a couple of tries (damned burning!). it's unbelievable how exciting and demanding the fights are, considering the somewhat shitty character system (my only real grip with the game so far).

also I wanted to go to sleep at a decent time yet I finished playing at 3 AM :negative: the first time it happened to me since, I think, Eador Genesis.
