Well, I think having a PC as undead could be a major boost in battles as well, assuming similar stuff as in DOS. Healing through poision, etc.
Plus, if what they say is true, being undead really could change the nature of the game. Means you have to stay well fed or something so you don't begin wasting away.

Wonder if you could end up facing a necromancer who will had additional powers/abilities that impact you (or your companions) if undead, turn you to his side etc. The loss of control and complaints it would cause would be glorious.

I don't see why not. You already have charm spells for Witchcraft back in D: OS.
In fact I remember there are also skills that can banish undead and summons.
Now imagine if there is a check for total character annihilation......iron man mode anybody? :smug:

They should've made the undead a known and accepted part of the world. This would not only make it easier to script reactivity, but also fit with the humorous tone of the Divinity universe.
They were such a race in Dragon Commander, which took place millenia before D:OS. Maybe things changed over thousands of years, as they tend to do. Or maybe Larian just changed their mind, since lore consistency has never been a priority in Divinity games.
