Eh. Diablo 2 didn't support mods and it was still good.

And there were still mods. Just not on battle.net servers.

Diablo was always better IMHO. Better atmosphere and the way classes were done was much better. Also because of....

Diablo had infinitely better monster models. They looked much more robust than paper-thin Diablo II sprites.

Once again, they'll remotely deactivate products if they detect 3rd party modifications...

So? They can suck my dick since the MMO-lite DII. I may consider not removing it if it's better than II, but I certainly won't bend over to the Cock-tick and his fantasies of powar. If someone is into BDSM, they will doubtlessly find the legit copy more worthwhile, I, however, am not, so I won't.

Torchlight 2 better be good, but I'm worried since the first one was pretty bad.

    Anyone here liked Titan Quest?

It's basically Diablo II, but with all the grimdark atmosphere and story taken out. From a gameplay perspective, though, it's perfected everything Diablo II ever introduced.

Diablo II had grimdark atmosphere (or any atmosphere for that matter)?

The only thing TQ did better than Diablo2 was give player free portal and instant identification. And having physics was nice, even though it didnt affect the gameplay at all. The rest was same or worse. In particular - all the classes were too much alike, Diablo2 was much more varied. Not to mention - static maps. Yeah, its not like in Diablo2 levels were all that randomised, but even a little bit helps.

I realised some time ago that Diablo and Diablo-likes are pretty shitty games.

I'd much rather play something like ADoM if I for some reason feel like dungeon crawling.

There's a very good reason that Diabo 2 is popular with stoners and girl gamers.

Now see here, Divine Divinity was the best Diablo clone. Okay, it delved a bit deeper than endless loot hunting but at its core it is a clone and leagues above all others.
