I miss playing D1 and using a trainer to create (and then dupe) my own sweet ass retarded weapons and armor.

    Litter someone's game with those.

So I can't connect right now.
Fuck this, I'm not going to sit around like an asshole waiting for this game to work.
    It's just fucking Diablo anyway.

last I heard D1 had an ascetic subset of players who played the game with cursed equipment on each slot

anyone who ganks them is usually quite surprised when they loot the corpse

Yeah, can't connect too. The message says, open beta will be live when they upload the newest update.
It seems they're constructing additional pylons at the moment.

After a while that was the only way to play the game.

Lazarus made speedrunning impossible for me though, that son of a bitch.

I managed to log in just now. Feels like I'm playing some strange Web 2.0 Disney version of Diablo.

Don't use the Euro servers, use the American.

Still getting Error 37 though (busy servers).

Remember how Blizzard justified online-only because that way you could take the character you were playing and start PvPing without needing to recreate it?

So, finally played this. Like 45 minutes so far, lvl 7 on my wizard. Graphics, or rather art style, was surprisingly okay'ish, better than I thought it'd be. That said, only reason I quit was because I got bored. Character development was boring and gameplay also ended up boring for some reason. Will try another class later, maybe there's something more interesting to play.

Anyone know if there's a class similar to Assassin from D2? After I played that one to a high level I just got used to the insane running/attacking speed and every other class ended up dull.

Got this downloaded but can't connect to b.net.

Even though I suspect the game won't be as good as D2, I'm still interested. In large part because I'm probably gonna be getting it as a gift so I may as well hope for the best. Got a couple buddies who're picking it up too, and clicking monsters with bros should be a good time.

Edit: Wow, fuck. I got in to the game and it's unplayable. I'll go from 100 FPS when my dude is standing still, to completely frozen/jerky when I start to move. Not sure if it's on my end or due to battle.net lag or what, but holy shit.

After 30 mins of wizard playing info :

    - Diablo 2 prerended 3d backgrounds into 2d were prettier than this 3d.

    - Game works great on my ancient 6 year old rig with high settings except shadows on 1280x1024 , that's a plus.

    - At first i thought it's boring and too easy, but later on 20 mobs attacked me at once and my HP dropped to 1/4, it was fun to slay that many mobs.

    - Towns and scripted areas went the console 'corridor' way, oh god why...... luckily it seems the random generated big areas are in... whew.

    - skills..... hmm, well to be honest i have no opinion on them yet, but as i said before, in the end in diablo 2 everyone used the most effective build, so having all skills might not be that bad.

    - random loot is in

    - A lot of mini 'bosses' , i always liked to fight mini bosses in d1 and d2 , and there are even more of them here than ever, great.

    - proper inventory, oh god yes, how i love a good inventory, fuck you beth/bio

    - no stats giving on level up..... well.... i have the same opinion on that as on skills, in the end in d2 everyone would end up with same stats build.

    - you can clearly smell from the UI and mechanics that this will be a console port

Overall so far i rate it 6+/10 , nothing ground breaking but not crap also. Enjoyable when 20+ mobs attack you at once but at same time too easy when you fight 2-3 mobs, (probably will get harder in later acts and tougher difficulty settings, if yes, my score will raise to 7/10)

Ok going to kill the skeleton king with my wizard and try rest of classes.

Finally managed to play an hour or so with the Monk.

Pretty fun game overall. But nothing I need to get on day 1.

I think it is likely to be mediocre, but I'm buying it because of peer pressure of my relatives who are buying it no matter what. And I don't want to be excluded from once-in-5-years coop game that we have when something comes out with unbroken coop play.

Seeing someone justify the removal of skill-trees on the Codex, of all places, is simply depressing. War is peace, freedom is slavery, et cetera.

Witch Doctor is the most fun to play. Mage is also cool, but that "I WIN ray" is game-breaking powerfull.

One thing I am extremely disappointed in is the music. Most of the time it doesn't even really seem to be playing, and when it does it's totally forgettable. Also voice acting seems mediocre so far. Could be rose tinted glasses or maybe they have a different guy doing Cain, because I remember him sounding way better. Actual action noises are sufficiently crunchy and fleshy sounding. Also, it really bothers me how the fonts aren't all in the classic Diablo font. AND it's missing some of the classic sounds from the old games, like the buttons and potion quaffing.

Also, it's bullshit the game won't remember your password when it keeps kicking me out with server busy messages.

Looks like my performance issues were probably due to their server getting pounded. Now that they've got a cap on how many people can play, my performance is fine.

Difficulty seems to be increasing respectably, too. Trying a demon hunter, and I've had a few battles against minibosses where I actually took some decent damage and had to run around and use caltrops. Much more difficult than single player normal difficulty act 1 D2. Probably closer to /players 8 act 1 normal difficulty. Assuming they get their always online bullshit in decent working order by launch I think I'll have a pretty good time with this.

Yeah, I had a feeling it would be just a huge lag fest so I didn't bother downloading it. It is what it is, not sure I want to pay $60 for it. Hopefully TL2 comes out a month or so after.
