Well Bloodlines has the graphically stunning werewolf transformation, but Deus Ex has electronic old men. Tough call.

Gameplay: Deus Ex
Story/Writing: A Draw. Maybe.
Atmosphere: VTM:B
Soundtrack: Draw
Level design: Deus Ex
Presentation and Art Direction: VTM:B, although VTM:B has the unfair advantage when it comes to its engine and year it was made.
Overall quality/consistency/innovation/entertainment value/superiority of design: Deus Ex.

In my opinion.

Yeah probably...but VTM:B's is so very good too. Longer overall. Doesn't have a couple of very annoying tracks (hearing the intro to this over and over in Paris becomes like nails on a chalkboard), but DX's is more impacting and memorable overall, with tracks like the magnificent DuClare Chateau.

DeusEx is simply the better executed game overall. Bloodlines would probably have been a real contender had it been finished, but as it stands, it's limitations are just too obvious. Still a masterpiece, but a flawed one.

Bloodlines has its great moments (mostly when the game is not centered around combat like in Hallowbrook Hotel), but Deus Ex is much more consistent. I'd have to give the win to Deus Ex.

Also, Hong Kong, Hell's Kitchen, OPENING theme...

Wasn't a little rushed Deus Ex too? They took away loyal to Unatco path!

Both are masterpieces. I slightly prefer Bloodlines because it has the better narrative (feuding factions FTW), presentation and is less linear.

I would probably rate Bloodlines higher, if only because it has so many memorable moments (for me at least). The atmosphere, the characters, and "don't open it" stuck with me. In comparison, I did not have as many memorable moments with Deus Ex, although Deus Ex definitely had better gameplay in my opinion.

This thread reminds me to install Deus Ex with GMDX.

Yessss!
Or, if you can wait, on December the super-polished and incredibly cool new version of GMDX will be out!

And no, Ash isn't paying me to advertise his mod :negative:

I appreciate the heads up. I'll mark December down in my calendar for the newest version. Currently, I have to move in the next few months, continue network for new clients, etc, and so this gives me some time.

Can you elaborate? Sounds like it would have been a completely different game from Hong Kong onwards.

There is just some unused dialogue, it isn't EA Game rush (they made a game with bayonets in but no way to use them and also with flashbang grenade that make people explode), they didn't cut anything that was already developed, just planned content.
Being loyal to UNATCO could mean a shorter game, but only if you wipe good guys only. I guess that there could be a civil war between Manderley, Simons and Page.

Bloodlines has better RPG mechanics and depth but Deus Ex beats it in every other category.

As much as I liked Deus Ex, it's a game that I had to put down a few times before finishing. I've replayed the first few missions countless times but have only beaten the whole game once, my enthusiasm peters out eventually. Bloodlines I've beaten twice and enjoyed the whole thing from start to finish both times (with a few exceptions, like the sewers). I just don't seem to tire of its gameplay like I do with Deus Ex.

EDIT: I should point out that I'm probably the only person here who enjoyed Deus Ex IW more than Human Revolution, partly because of the latter's piss filter and partly because I had very low expectations for IW and higher ones for HR.
