In DS1, necromorphism was caused by bacteria and Markers suppress the growth of the bacteria, which is why the series is called "Dead Space" because Markers create this "dead space" around it where nothing is able to grow. The necromorphs had an eco-system that made sense, was actively terra-forming the space station into a habitat. The Markers had DNA-sequence written on its surface, and the scientists used the DNA-sequence to create the original necromorphs.
Can you explain this part? Isn't the marker the one that causes necromorphism? Why would it suppress it?

I think this version is more likely:
"It is possible that Marker 3A was using promises of halting the outbreak in order to be returned to Aegis VII so that it could use the, presumably, greater biomass of the entire infected colony to achieve Convergence. This is supported by the pulse Marker 3A releases after being returned to the pedestal, which appears to be identical to the pulse released on New Horizons and Titan Station. This is also supported by the fact that Marker 3A didn't stop the Necromorphs at all, as Isaac was attacked by the Hive Mind after its return.

It is also possible that Marker 3A allowed Isaac to escape, so that the information stored in his brain could be used to create more Red Markers."

Story in DS1 and DS2 is pretty decent. And BACKstory is very interesting and there can be drawn a lot of parallels between it and real world problems. Just replace Brethen Moons with USA empire, markers with librulism and necromorphs with gays, "freedom fighters", "oppressed minorities" and others that kill their own nations with USA blessing.

which is probably why EA changed it cuz this lore confuses people. IIRC it was in one of DS1's logs:

http://deadspace.wikia.com/wiki/Infection_Bacteria

The first form of the bacteria to appear was a small sheet of dead flesh found deep in the Chicxulub crater by Michael Altman who was attempting to reach the marker site via bathysphere. He later collected a sample that had attached itself to a part of the bathysphere hull. Grote Guthe later did some research and successfully reproduced the bacteria that he accidentally injected in his own arm. As Guthe began to transform, he ran to the marker hoping it would help him resist the infection. The transformation seemed to stop (due to the Marker's effect to make the bacteria go into a dormant state when approaching the Marker to a certain radius) until Krax killed him and had his body transferred to another location where his body turned into an infector. The bacteria was also synthesized from the Genetic Code given by the Marker to other people via hallucinations and visions. These people would write symbols on the walls, some of those were part of the DNA strain of the infection bacteria.

First Aegis VII IncidentEdit
After the Black Marker was successfully reverse-engineered, one copy [3] was relocated to Aegis VII; the research team continued to attempt to decipher the symbols on its surface.[citation needed]

After a number of experiments based on the finally deciphered symbols, resulting in the synthesis of an alien microbial life-form composed of recombinant DNA and the subsequent horrific events caused by its release into the wild, the system was abandoned and the Aegis Cluster marked off limits to all space traffic as a prohibited zone.

Everything is retconned since the second game.

Fired up Dead Space 1. It has awful handling, especially when aiming. I'm fighting against controls, instead of (relatively harmless) enemies. Is that what differentiates Survival Horror from FPS?
Did you turn off vsync? It helps a little bit. Makes it playable, at the very least.
Switching off vsync did not seem to do anything, but cranking mouse sensitivity both in game and mouse own settings all the way up helped.

Holy shit... :what:
you may replace lieberalism with communism, islamism, scientology or any (other) destructive cult, if it makes you more comfortable. Point is, humanz are way too easily brainwashed into selfextinction, even without alien woodoo magic.

Developers wanted co-op parter to be Isaac's alter ego to show his dementia. They would argue through out the game and his true nature would be shown till the end game. It was cut from the game for different reasons.

I knew instinctively that I wasn't going to like this game after I loved the first two. Don't know what they were thinking gone is the horror. Horror was the aspect that made Dead Space so popular and once you take that out of the equation it's just a mindless space shooter. I still have hope that they will return true to forum for ds4 but I think I read that ds3 didn't sell enough to risk another game.

Edit: guess there will be a Dead Space 4 this year https://www.google.com/amp/neurogadget.net/2016/10/23/dead-space-4-released-2017/43699/amp

They're "gud for what it is" as long as you don't go in expecting System Shock 3.

-No cover shooting.
-No/minimal HUD (and therefore meaning not a ton of obnoxious handholding prompts).
-Atmosphere is p.damn great.
-Moderately meaningful resource management.
-The occasional simple (but interestingly executed) puzzle or atmosphaggotry segment breaking up the mole-popping.
-Low-G segments.
-Stasis/Kinesis make combat a touch more involved.
-Not entirely linear. Comes with up to THREE branching paths! Sarcasm in the emphasis obviously, but at least it's not entirely railroaded, and moderate linearity is not always a bad thing (see: Deus Ex Paris Catacombs).
-Story is servicable and not constantly invading play/outstaying its welcome.

As for DS3, it's certainly not as gud for what it is as the first two, but still has its moments, like this one:

Dead Space 4 means EA just have run out of IPs because they really fucked up 3 and I cannot see how they are going to fix that shit without pretty much say "well that didnt happened".
