It was only a couple days ago when I wondered if he pronounced his last name like "fliers" or like "pierce"...

Old enough that I grew up watching MASH.

That being said, when I heard of his passing yesterday, the first of his works to pop into my mind was his narration for Icewind Dale.

So perfectly timed with the music of Jeremy Soule... when that candle flickers to life, and the music, and his wonderful voice... a really amazing gaming memory.

As the years go by, it's Icewind Dale, of all the Infinity Engine games, that seems to get replayed the most.

Thank you, Mr. Stiers, for the contribution of your art.

RIP

Fuck. Actually one of my favorite VAs, largely because of the IWD cinematics.

When Arundel/Hrothgar's VA dies as well I'll be legit pissed. We already lost Kresselack's VA ten years back. Icewind Dale's voice acting in general was stellar (even with Tara Strong on board)

For an ARPG IWD had a lovely serene atmosphere, I think it was Stiers mellifluous vocals that did this in large part, along with Soules soundtrack and the beautiful artwork. When he uttered his last few lines you could have knocked me down with a feather.
