Pre-orders are open for Crusader Kings II but more importantly, there's a demo to be had. Get to it.

The demo is buggy as hell, it has game-breaking bugs and lots of minor bugs, glitches and inaccuracies that the developers claim "are fixed in the final game" that is supposed to be released in February 14th. :smug:

The game itself is otherwise decent but the AI and relationship system suck hard.

care to elaborate ? i've played games with all the available factions and didn't run into anything game breaking. got a paradox forum link ?

the worst thing i saw was the malus for "vassal levies raised for too long" after just a month... might be a feature, though... oh and a sudden doomstack out of nowhere when i attacked a two county muslim nation

i see a lot of room for optimization when it comes to independence wars... other than that... most wars seemed 'reasonable', if a lot too common

the relationship system seems alright to me... with the more detailed family trees and the pretender view it's a lot more transparent than in CK1

There is an issue with some of the mercenaries having insane monthly costs, but that is really the only bug that I have found. Everything else seems to work pretty smoothly.

I really like the relationship system. It is easy to see exactly why someone likes/dislikes you and generally they only enter open rebellion if your character is grossly incompetent and they hate him (at least that is my experience so far). Otherwise they tend to rely on plotting against you.
You also don't have situations were super loyal vassals who apparently love you are suddenly gaining the rebellious trait and rebelling while still having 100 loyalty.

The smug emote is usually a good sign of a troll or a moron. Pick one.

 I was actually serious. The demo seems to work perfectly fine for a vast mayority of players. No sign of 'game-breaking bugs and lots of minor bugs, glitches and inaccuracies' and nothing on the official twitter, facebook or forum about developers claiming these to be fixed in the final game. Curry is just being an ass.

About mercenaries being very expensive, well, that's not an issue. Mercs can easily sway the balance of a war so the biggest companies should be expensive and thus limited for use by the extremely rich (papacy, kings, emperors). For poorer dukes and counts there are also smaller and thus cheaper companies that can nicely bolster your efforts without costing you a fortune. Huge doomstacks appearing usually has to do with your enemy being huge or rich enough to buy a big-ass merc company and small enough to feel really threatened or when you're a religious enemy so they can employ a holy order against you. Also allies. I still fondly remember a small war in Italy in which my enemy called in the help of his father in law. That being the German Kaiser it ended rather badly for me.

I usually just ignore whiners such as yourself but here you go.

edit: modding is also broken. I edited "create and usurp" triggers for titles but it seems the same trigger affects who is eligible in Elective Succession and who you can give titles to. It turned out that when I made only Independent rulers and Kings able to create Duchies, I can no longer give Duchies to my vassals and Counts can't be elected Duke. Yeah, I guess that's WAD.

Ah, so a single thread with the description 'found the first mayor bug' in a forum otherwise filled with praise and gameplay discussions means the game is 'as buggy as hell?' Not a single thread about demo bugs to be found on the entire first page of the CKII forum. Again, you're being an ass.

The normal mercenary payments are fine, but as the Duke of Bohemia, I had hired one of the merc groups at around 130 gold, and when the monthly payment hit I went from ~400 gold to -2000. That has only happened to me a couple of times while fooling around with the demo, but still is the only real problem I have encountered.

You are and you're making quite an effort at it. Good for you. For everyone else this is the most stable and polished Paradox game near release in, well, pretty much ever.

That's a bad one though. Never seen it before. What company was it?

I don't remember. Saw on the Pdox forums someone had a similar problem with some of them to and that it was apparently because of a missed decimal point and an improper display and that it is supposedly fixed. Guess we will see.

CK II demo with all its bugs is better and more fun than the full MAJESTIC 60+ hours shit you gloated about with the rest of the "hardcore PC gamer" posers.
