As has been mentioned by previous posters, I believe the value of CRPGAddict is discussing games I've either never heard of or have not played. At the moment, I believe the harshest criticism is that he has a high tendency to abandon games.

Truth be told I dislike his blog, for whatever reason. I guess it's the "gotta catch 'em all" approach or something. Plus, from what I've seen (and I admit I haven't read much of his blog), his tastes aren't the ones I could possibly share.

And the games he abandons, even though he sticks with some truly crappy ones.

    He's 'reviewed' Skyrim now

Well that's a slight improvement at least.

If I was planning on playing a shitload of games I'm not even sure I'll like, I'd probably have low tolerance too.

Well all you haters are just butthurt at the fact that the CRPG Addict has the most in depth CRPG blog out there. I say if you don't like CRPG Addict's place, then make your own CRPG blog.
(Feel free to post links below).
In the meantime I :salute: The CRPG Addict.

I wait patiently for the CRPG Addict's Secret of the Silver Blades review and responses. :D

If the blog is so "in depth" then why does he miss pointing out new elements that a game has? Oh wait, that would mean actual knowledge or research.

    He does?

He usually does during the final rating. He points it out as he goes along too.

I'd say it's in depth in that he's doing a chronological playthrough of RPGs. Maybe we have a different idea of what in-depth involves though. Do you think he should spend more than 6 hours on games before he drops them? Or that he needs to finish every single game?

I'd rather he abandon shit games (what game has he abandoned that wasn't shit / not an RPG?) so that he may eventually play the truly great games during my lifetime.

Nothing wrong with saying you like Skyrim. It's really no different from the light-hearted mindless action RPGs of the kind of Anvil of Dawn or Lands of Lore that a lot of folks here enjoy. Anvil of Dawn even had some relatively linear dungeons of the kind that Skyrim has. The exception is that it is perfectly acceptable to praise old Dungeon Master clones because they are old, but not if they come in the form of a new game.

The posers on this forum who say they hate Skyrim have put in 40 hours into it already and then have the nerve to rage at anyone else for saying they like the game. People like Baron John and all.

That's part of the codex's (admittedly questionable) charm.

I still have to make up my mind about Skyrim, but it seems way better than oblivion, despite even further dumbing down - it's not really an RPG, but it seems to essentially be heavily modded oblivion, with most sources of suck removed, better faces, low-poly character models and actual art direction and possibly lore and politics. Oh, and absolutely horrid interface.

Now liking oblivion is not just like liking twilight, but like liking Twilight scat porn fanfics in my book.

And the dreaded days comes. Looks like the project is on indefinite hold.

I also have the suspicion that Skyrim had something to do with it. I don't think it pure coincidence that he abandoned it right after a Skyrim glut, during which he even referenced how 3 years ago he threw out all his games and swore to never play CRPG's again after an Oblivion glut.

Bit of a shame, especially since he was right at the beginning of the most interesting phase of CRPG's.

I enjoyed his blog. Didn't always agree with him and didn't always understand why he was having difficulty with a game, but it was still a fun read. Oh well.

Playing every CRPG ever released in chronological order was a pretty stupid thing to try to do anyway.

Even if you really liked CRPGs, you'd probably only have fun about 10-15% of the time. It would probably translate into thousands of hours of mostly glorified grinding.

Unless you have medical issues keeping you chained to the computer, you should probably have higher standards for your recreational activities.

Nope, still there. Just accessed it.

Yeah same here. I think the only time I raged at him was when he abandoned Wiz4, and not so much because he did but because he approached the game with the wrong mindset to begin with, and if you're gonna do that you're better off not playing it at all. And it's not as if he wasn't warned this was not your typical CRPG. And whenever he did enjoy a game reading about it was a real pleasure, such as MM1, Starflight, Demon's Winter, Ultima 5...

Yeah well blaming it on Skyrim oversaturation or on, you know, real life, would be far too much of a stretch.

That's interesting, site where I obtained illegal books had the same error just few hours ago as well. Probably some aftereffect of FBI raid against MU.
