You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back, Guest. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that, Guest? Why are you not helping?

When it comes to watching reduced sized video I'd rather not bother with anything that needs sub titles. So even though I suggested The Lives of Others I'll go with Brazilian Bad-asses if its dubbed.

It's better if it's subbed, the constant cussing is like fucking music even if you don't understanding

and it's a nice opportunity for BRos to spew memes everyone forgot about and most people won't understand for no reason

It's semi-noteworthy that the trailer doesn't make much sense and straight makes shit up(the movie doesn't mention the cops being childhood friends IIRC),and I say semi-noteworthy because the trailer doesn't really matter because the movie isn't really about anything (or if it is it's uh... kind of pointless or banal, then again you could say it's about RdJ and its favelas/law enforcement issues) while the trailer makes it look like it's about something, epic music and all

I mean for fucks sake it makes it look like the the "aspiring cop" duo are the protagonists, when the protagonist is one of the BOPE officers (you can't even argue this because throughout most of the movie you have to hear posthumous-sounding monologues from the protagonist, and the movie is mostly from his POV) and one of duo guys barely gets screen time

how can you fuck this up, this is worse than the robocop trailer though I'm probably being too harsh with that one

more importantly who the fuck was responsible for this shit, I bet it was a brazilian

Yeah the trailer was run of the mill bland. I've seen positive talk of it before and the time motivation of a visit from the pope was amusing enough to do it for me. ehhh with some hesitation I suppose I could give the small windowed subs a chance, which would open the door back up to my submission of the spy one, for now I am willing to throw support behind Tropa.
I will hold off on a vote for a few days to see what others gain ground and might have to throw support behind the one I consider the least shit. I'd forgo my choice if it meant choosing between a lulzy Bodyguard (attendance?) and time tested Robocop.

I certainly understand and even support in spirit the appeal for a crap movie that can be ripped on as it plays out, I just cant bring myself to even consider something so deprived.

I guess Tropa de Elite. I've seen all the others, except for I Saw the Devil, which sounded really depressing from the story synopsis I read

btw you might want to make an announcement thread in CDS, since some of us have probably forgotten about CMN in the interim. :p

wouldn't say it is depressing, it tries to be grimdark hard enough not to be taken seriously, I mean the main character is a sick fuck himself and the second half of the movie(thus the sick shit) only happens because of his sick fuckery, and it's over the top at that as well, then again we're on the codex

    I found it p. entertaining

I'm holding out, since there are multiple movies I'd be happy with, but I'd prefer to use my vote on one with a decent chance of winning. I sort of wish the poll allowed one to vote for their 1st and 2nd choice, instead of just their first.

Anyway, I agree with most of what Mabeiro's said in this thread. The TdE trailer doesn't really represent the movie, and I Saw the Devil isn't really that depressing, for the reasons he mentioned.

Looks like we still got no clear favorite this time! Make sure to vote before the poll closes on Friday or you might ragequit if you are too late and your personal vote would have been needed in order to tip the scale in favor to your film of choice

Also wtf guys? Flash still not a clear winner! He's the saviour of the universe for crying out loud! Oh and he gets endorsed by fags:

Not to mention DIIIIIIIIVVVVVE! Flash is the main reason I wanted 2 votes or more. I voted for TdE though.

I Saw the Devil is total crap, Tropa de Elite probably won't make much sense for someone who lives outside the latin america.

I think I'll vote for The Lives of Others. It's not good, but at least I know it's watchable. The others look even worse.

I don't know about that. I've watched it with Kwans and Europeans, and it's straightforward enough that there's not much to not understand. Though Europeans tend to get all whiny about the torture and shooting parts. It's a great movie to troll liberal European potheads with, they get so beautifully butthurt by a mere movie.

Also, I don't envy your inability to find enjoyment in stupid movies once in a while.

Time is almost up, if you plan on voting now is the time.

/e: alright poll is done and it looks like we got a four-way mexican standoff at our hands!
But no Flash Gordon. Codex I am dissapoint!

The films we are going to see will be decided on the Codex Movie Night, it's now officially a tie between Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, RoboCop, The Battle Wizard and Tropa de Elite.

Wild Slop: I was actually planning on proposing on the actual Movie Night a choice between a vote of all attendees on which film to watch first, after that a vote of all attendess by that point in time to vote for the second film to watch OR that I start the stream off with a random number generator.

In any case all four films are prepped and ready to go on my harddrive already. I'm really surprised that we have yet to see an old, low profile/budget film that got nominated not beeing able to be found.
