Isn't like Battlefield the new rage in modern shooters now? I'm not really into pseudo-realistic army-boy shooters but I think they had to do something with the timeline (Nowadays for BF, WWII done to death), plus drones are the shit now. As for the past, Dan Vavra already beat them to it.

Pfft...They should've made a Future Warfare and brought in non-hitscan pew pew guns instead. This looks hardly any different from Black Ops 2.

I'm not sure I understand. Is the game supposed to be criticizing the very same AMERICA! FUCK YEAH! attitude that it seems to be championing through its action-porn gameplay and visuals?

Where did you get that idea? Spacey is the bad guy, saying anti-America stuff.

So Activision made their own GRAW.

On the more serious note, although I hated every CoD title since the original MW, this trailer got me kind of hyped.

Okay, I'll bite; how did the Illusive Man get himself thrown back in time? Was it Reapers?

I'll bet it was Reapers.

So Activision made their own GRAW.

On the more serious note, although I hated every CoD title since the original MW, this trailer got me kind of hyped.

And yet the codex wishes all games was clones of Gold Box games... Liking the first MW while hating on the others sounds suspiciously like hipster behavior. After all, it's kewl to hate COD post first MW(Post COD 1 if you want old skool credits) here and in a lot of gaming forums. The fact is that all MW plays the same barring some tweaks, with only different scenarios and story.

So Activision made their own GRAW.

I said "since" MW, not before. Modern Warfare was a turning point for Infinity Ward.

Also, I strongly disagree with your statement. While COD 1 was amazing, it was basically an upgraded Medal of Honor Allied Assault, which actually isn't that strange since it was made by the guys from 2015. They took all the best MOH AA did, and turned it into Call of Duty.

But, Modern Warfare was leagues better than COD1. The plot was great, gunplay was intense, and everything was just spot-on, except the campaign longevity. Everything post-MW was crap. Utter crap. It was a copy-paste job with little or no innovation.

What, if I say that Half-Life 2 is still better than 80% of shooters from the last 10 years, it would make me a hipster?

See? It's like all the other COD's didn't bring over the "intense gunplay" and all that. Campaign longevity was also similar in the other iterations. The plot of those games is derp, but it's not like the plot of the first COD is anything to write home about.

They did, but they didn't introduce any kind of innovation. You're taking stuff a bit out of context.

What I'm saying is, MW was an upgrade, an innovation in contrast to COD1. In almost every way. COD titles post-MW were a copy/paste job.

So, basically: innovation - good. Copy/paste - bad.

I actually like MW2 as a guilty pleasure. It's like a montage of the best 90's action films strung together, with you in first person view.

Granted it did nothing new, but it did everything it wanted to do perfectly. I mean, just look at the snowmobile chase section. It's been copied again and again by other COD-wanna-be games. But MW2 did it so perfectly: you were actually in control of the snowmobile, unlike the more recent on-rail shit, and the set pieces were rigged and timed so perfectly.

A normal male human being born in the 80s/90s, who claims he doesn't secretly like this shit, is a hipster.

I'm not sure I understand. Is the game supposed to be criticizing the very same AMERICA! FUCK YEAH! attitude that it seems to be championing through its action-porn gameplay and visuals?

Ten bucks says Kevin Spacey turns out to be the bad guy in the end, and democracy wins. Murica fuck yeah!
Chosing him is a dead giveaway of it.

Ugh, wished it went back to WWII again or something.

All this futuristic stuff is boring as hell.

No it wasn't. It was a series of elaborate target practice rooms with regenerating health and people telling you exactly where to go. Except when it tried to be a stealth game and all you had to do was follow a waypoint attached to your commanding officer. There are points where you can bunnyhop across open fields and nobody will notice because you haven't actually hit any of the detection triggers. This is the same exact formula for all the CoD4 games that came after CoD4 Part 1.

I'm not a hipster :( OR AM I?

Seriously now, MW1 was the best "wow" effect for me, so perhaps that's why I don't like other COD titles.
Man. Accept the fact that Activision gave up in making real games since MW1, the piece of shit people play now are just a reskin of MW1. It wasn't a master piece that is so much different from modern CODs. People look to MW1 with nostalgia because they were taken by surprise by the Michel Bay EXPLOSIONS, Michael Bay PLOT and more Michael Bay EXPLOSIONS. People are starting to get tired of that shit now because there is a limit on the number of explosions before people become tired of them.
