Grow a backbone. If you have high standards in art and a healthy life, you are more important than the majority of people.

"However, John Everatt of the University of Surrey, also in the UK, has demonstrated that dyslexic students can be distinguished from other children with low reading achievement by testing geared to assessing their strengths as well as weaknesses. Dyslexic children tend to score significantly better than other children, including non-impaired children, on tests of creativity, spatial memory, and spatial reasoning. Dyslexic children also perform better than other reading-impaired children on tests of vocabulary and listening comprehension"

That's not true. It does make you better than more people, but if you don't affect anyone else's lives, you are of zero importance.

A counter argument against what? You've posted a bunch of angsty and immature pontification about how you are upset that people eat at McDonalds. This:
is laugh-out-loud funny. Not only ridiculously pretentious but they're coming from someone who considers himself supremely insightful and intelligent, false modesty aside, with no justification I can see. It's like you read a list on some website of what posing truthers or hippies might consider fulfilling and took them as your own because they are, after all, what smart and cultured people value, amirite?

Is there any room amidst the unicorns and rainbows in your utopia for people who, you know, have real jobs?

Heh, I actually troll up those boards sometimes because there is plenty of teen angst and idiocy to be found there amongst the good stuff, especially in the talk forum. They tend towards hivemind thinking, just like the Codex at times, but luckily we have Volourn and a few others who keep things interesting. However, they do a good job of filtering out the chaff when it comes to articles, and the mp3 section is very nice. I found many of my favorite bands there.

You must be new here. KC needs no logic because he has the diversity police! :D

As for dyslexia, it's a real disorder, unlike ADD (or at least 90% of those who supposedly have it). There are areas of the brain needed to read properly, and a malfunction in them is real damage. It's a very serious disability, even if minor, since proficient literacy requires above average intelligence in the first place.

Rofl. This is so funny I want to make sarcastic replies, but they would only take away from the humor. =(

Actually, what he's describing is damn close to Thomas Jefferson's pastoral ideal for America, but James Madison's multicultural empire view ended up winning. Even a manufacturing economy is superior to a service one, since making real products is better than making a living manipulating people. Our industrial base won both world wars and we have now shipped it out to China, while now our economy is based on marketing, lawyers, and government bureaucracy. It won't end well.

If you spin any harder you're going to barrel roll. Your self-delusion is why I made fun of you in the first place. Whatever happened to the angst at people for eating at McDonalds and shopping at Wal Mart?
But managing your "carbon footprint" is where it's at in life, amirite?

The economy doesn't agree, there's more wealth to be generated in service than there is in manufacturing.

Not sure what else you'd expect from a capitalist system.

No way. Let's just look at an example from our manufacturing past. Henry Ford paid $5 a day minimum to his workers, for an 8 hour work day. A Model T cost less than 500 dollars. An average worker could buy himself an average car in just a few months of working (remember there was no income tax, at least not for the average worker!)

Now, let's take an average new car worth, say $25,000. Today a service worker working for 12 hours a day (because they're salaried and not paid by the hour) might take 7 or 8 months to get this. When you consider that he works longer and is taxed more heavily, it takes him probably twice as much effort to get the equivalent good, despite a century of technology improvements!

The service economy is popular because it favors women, who lack the muscle to do manufacturing labor, idiots who can't be trusted to manage heavy machinery, and parasites who cannibalize their own society, who are politely called attorneys.

ADD was also originally classified as a form of "minor brain damage" (which it is, and it's also why it shows on brain scans), but i guess they had to drop that part either wise it would be pretty hard for them to justify doping boys who don't like feminized education with Ritalin to make them cope.

No matter how well-read you are, you will never, ever be as well-read as Nicolai.
