I am Augustus the Second the Ruler or Restored Roman Empire and Master of countless Legions; yet for all my Honours won and Glory earned I am a cuck too; My Wife and daughters all have lovers pox; my sister Promissed to marry the ruler of Roman Kingdom in Northern Gaul just dropped a bastard... None of them were hedonists nor lustful I raised them well and send the rest to be educated by Ascetic Bishops and all of this was for nothing :negative: .Thank You Paradox for letting me feel what modern Swedish Men must feel. :hero:
I Modded in Muslim Horde into my game and watched my Empire burn in the flames of ITZ... Then Deleted the saves. SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MUNDI :killit:

Which line and what file is this? Also I think deceitful trait works better than lustful and/or hedonist for seduction focus.
It should be something like common/objectives/focuses.txt

Find the seduction entry, AI pick chance, first line is a base chance (probably 50), set it to something small to make it rarer, 0 to disable focus for the AI.

Then do the same for the bloody intrigue focus. I don't know about you guys but I have a sneaking suspicion that kidnapping random people (including your liege) for ransom was kind of illegal even back then.

I have a question regarding factions. On my current playthrough I managed to create Kingdom of Sicily as a vassal of BE. I might be wrong but when I played CK2 not so long ago even as a duke I had to deal with my own vassals creating factions that could spark a civil war and overthrow my rule. Now I don't have to worry about unhappy vassals, they can't rebel against me. It seems like factions can only be created in independent nations. I can completely ignore my servants' opinion of me because they won't react, even if I'm behaving like a tyrant. It seems broken to me. I don't know if they have changed it in the last patch or If my game is bugged.

Elective makes it far too easy to get Supermen, and Primogeniture with title micromanagement makes it far too easy to blob. I find that forced Gavelkind house rule is the way to go, together with specific game goals.

the obsession with blobbing and map painting goes against what CK2 should be.

It's all about the dynasty and final score, baby.

Winning battles and wars helps the increase prestige a great deal ;)

On a more serious note, I like to start off as a count or more rarely as a duke and see how long it takes me to get the crown. I think the only time I started with a kingdom title was playing as Harold II for the challenge of beating Harald Hardrada and William the Bastard.

Map painting has sense when you play as :obviously: sucessor of Roman/Persian Empire and and every country liberated means another snownigger/mudslime invader in your Dungeon. OK seeems that my next ruler with diplomatic focus managed to fend of most of L1beral seducers and we are back at business; the Heretic Snow Nigger Vandal Kingdom is no more and golden Solidus know now as Septims flow into Imperial coffins; we got 8 legions ready to serve the Imperium and managed to make brave Ostrogoths as our vassals and shook troops and convert Franks who kicked poor Sygarius arse under Chlodvik into proper and civilized Orthodox Nicene Christians. His Northern Gaul empire got nicely fractured after his death giving us buffer zone against Kraut and future Viking raids and Aurelian II wont not waste Imperium still limited resources in taking back barbarians and usurpers infested shitholes like Parisium and Londinium; Hispania awaits.... and then New Rome; but this is story for another descendant of Tiber(ius) Septim(us). ROMA VICTRIX SUKI!:incline:

:negative:All I have to say is, fuck Vikings and the excessive attention they get while all other pagans remain generic copies. Plus any 867 start on the coast involves raising and disbanding troops every week to crush the next 300 man Viking raiding party.

1066 and Alexiad pretty much my only start dates now.

My last campaign was 897 start (I hadn't read about vikings), made Hispania + captured Britanny. Raiding parties were hitting ass and leg and almost drove me mad. And of course the only times they did any damage was when I was involved in large wars abroad, otherwise they never were a threat, just pure annoyance.

I'm sorry to bring up an old subject (if I have) but I would like to ask anyone who plays crusader kings what are the best ruler designer traits for a fun role play?

At the moment wonded is a must as is lunatic (for the events), but I'd love to play a character that even makes the wrong choices in educating the ward based upon their traits, I do like passing down the genetical traits Genius etc. but also want some odd events to occur.

The Last ruler I had took great pox and other detrimental health traits for the sake of genius and a massive health boost.

What I'm asking is what sort of character would you like to play and how using the ruler designer would you create them, without using the cheat?

If you're going min-max, taking ugly doesn't hurt much. Neither does kinslayer since you start with no dynasty.

I usually take ugly+strong, because I need my first ruler to live long and prosper, especially if he's a tribal or nomad. The relations boost from strong is formidable.

Other than that, I just keep a blank slate since I'll only be playing my first descendant for so many years. Sometimes if I have the points for it, I pump intrigue or martial so I can get a good start.

Aw lawdy. Last time I played CK2 was during Old Gods time, decided to give it a go with all expansions now and game speed goes to snail pace after 70 years or so. I guess it's all them Rajas in India and them Horse Niggers popping out kids like crazy. In latest patch they boasted about improving performance, I can't even imagine how slow this game would be for me before this patch.

Thanks for the feedback but I was more interested in creating a character to roleplay rather than to leave a legacy, I'm considering going full retard with the traits, but maybe I'll take some good traits to offset like a slow, strong, kind, ugly, lustful, gluttonous drunk.

I was just interested to know if anybody had encountered any odd quirks given their rulers build and if so what are the related traits?

Posessed and insanity are quite fun and relatively harmless if you're already a king/emperor.

Being an attractive woman with super high intrigue and seduction focus is a fun way to tear down an empire from the inside out.

I've tried insane which gave me a fun event (with a mod/ perhaps?) to build and test a flying machine, in which I had a 50/50 survival chance and died, I kept reloading until I flew and became renamed the cuckoo, but as I reloaded about 6 times I figured that it was fair to say I died without heirs so began as you have suggested; Character mod Duchess of Tuscany, attractive, quick, high intrigue, super fertile, with a few bad personality traits. Though I don't use/have way of life so she is despite being lustful so far in 20 years a bastion of faithfulness. But the ease of the game is madness; there are many city states to claim, along with muslim sicily and north africa and the Tuscan army is already large and the country makes a fortune each year, so much so that after 20 years, my ruler has a genius son (through marriage to a genius) another son who is attractive and quick (my rulers traits) and one other son and two daughters, they can raise an army in excess of half the HRE and control most of Italy, so that has ended up becoming a dynasty management simulator.

I figure I'll give up that game and go for the retarded strong ugly wounded nutbag ruler next.

i was really looking for mad/strange combinations rather than min/maxing as the game becomes quite easy so long as you have a stable ruler and exploit all the advantages (court recruitment/ dynasty management etc.) And I've always found myself switching off if I build an empire, or even worse am awarded a kingdom from a crusade. i was for the next game thinking of starting from a flawed ruler and making their decisions for education/development accordingly, just to see what weirdness abounds.

Oh, that's cool. Building a flying machine is a common event of the Improve Learning focus, but I guess insane characters can do the deed?

Does anyone know if Paradox fixed the 'bug' where you can become a Merchant Republic by giving a city to your heir, continuously imprisoning him and eventually surrendering to a war against tirany? My Flanders Merchant Republic game failed just for that.

Also fuck Windows 10 for freezing an corrupting my Abyssinia Ironman game.

The tutorials are useless, the best thing about the game is realising a new tactic after playing for a hundred hours. For example I just realised recently that one of the best ways to expand your empire without bloodshed is to invite males with good claims for big duchys to your court then force them to marry your daughters matrilinially, in no time you have blood ties on thrones around europe.

Depending of who you are playing and under which authority you serve I've found that marrying your male heirs in the hope of land for grandsons is dumb as there are not enough rewards and too much risk, by the time those grandsons become rulers, you should have already taken enough land for a duchy and they could now be bread from genius stock.

The only time I found the game truly oppressive was serving under high crown authority, where you couldn't even make war on a claim without first making civil war on your ruler to reduce crown authority or take independence.

All i all I've found the early game and the struggles to assert yourself to be the best part.

I don't know about that, as I say I was playing with mods, bloodlines, damascus steel, building mods (which OP your characters too much in my opnion) and personal castle, but I don't mind the mods if they add colour to the game.

Oh and also I've had that event in normal channels which gives you the choice of using the dog, the stableboy, or yourself. If you're a loon you have no choice it's fly or die.

If anyone ever cares to know, I just discovered that the exploit still works.

Aside from the Warhammer mod, which runs like absolute shit due to the ridiculous map size, this mod is my favourite.

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/mod-birthright-d-d-take-ii.755935/page-74

The old D&D campaign setting Birthright converted to CK2. I think the campaign setting works better in CK2 than it ever did for a tabletop game. It's mostly feature complete, the bugs I've encountered mostly relate to them changing the learning attribute to bloodscore. There's also an annoying bug due to the Horse Lords update where you can give every minor honourary title away to anybody in your court, which I hope gets fixed. Other than that it runs faster on my shoddy laptop than the unmodded game does, probably because the map is smaller.
