It depends on the sleeping pills, but most modern prescription sleeping pills wouldn't cause any lasting harm if you ate a whole bottle.

Maybe people with psychic powers change your thinking patterns to make you think that they don't have psychics powers.

I used to eat a handful or so of OTC sleeping pills when I'd drunk up all my whiskey and could still see straight. It worked OK.

All that cardboard and plastic would probably give you a bit of constipation, but definitely not fatal.

IV opiates is about the best way to die that I can imagine(that is, if one can not die surrounded by fallen foemen). Twenty minutes of OMG AWESOME dopamine agonism(think of an orgasm, but better) followed by stifling narcotic bliss and never waking up.

It's just that 'sleeping pills' is usually stuff like ambien. Eat a bottle of those and you won't come close to dying, you'll just have a (relatively safe)psychedelic experience similar to eating Amanita muscaria. Benzodiazepines might kill you if you are especially sensitive and eat a whole bottle, but most people who die from benzodiazepine overdose were mixing them with opioids or as a result of choking on their own vomit while they are passed out. You really stand a better chance of drinking yourself to death in all honesty.

Barbiturates, the sleeping pills known for their killing potential, aren't really commercially available in most first world countries anymore. GHB would work pretty well too, just take 4 times too much in a quiet spot and you will pretty much 100% for sure slip into a coma and die.
