At what point does this series turn to popamole shit?

I seem to have a bunch of this shit on steam (probably bought on a sale then forgot about it). I'm currently doing a bit of house cleaning so i want know which ones i can safely put on the ignore list. I think i played a few of those WWII shooters back in the day, probably Medal of Honor and the first Call of Duty, but my memories are pretty vague. I don't remember them being bad though, i just didn't care all that much at the time since i wasn't fond of the setting. I briefly checked the wiki and there's like a shitload of them now. I would assume the more recent the game is the higher chance there is that it sucks ass but i figured i might as well check here first.

Only the first is decent, Call of Duty 2 introduced the regenerating health bullshit. I don't know how they are online though.

CoD 1: Gud for what it is
CoD 2: Different dev, it's arse
CoD 3: Console popamole arsefest
CoD MW: Actually quite good for what it is.
CoD MW2: Marked decline from CODMW. Barely playable.
CoD MW3: Shit.
CoD: WaW + CoD BLOPS + CODBLOPS 2: Didn't play. Supposedly clones of MW3 with 5-hr sp campaigns. Mainly sold for the multiplayer, with each iteration making previous versions redundant.
CoD Ghosts: Didn't play. Suppoedly the only one with active multiplayer servers if you're into that.
CoD AW: Didn't play. Michael Bay/10.

If you only play CoD1 and CoD MW you're not missing anything important. From MW2 onwards it went from gun porn to wannabe james bond/tom clancy with utterly forgettable set piece sequences.

All the CoD games ar ecorridor shooters with in-engine cutscenes. And all excet the first have health regen and molepopping. It's up to you whether or not you're capable of stomaching it.

CoD made by Treyarch is only choice. Modern Warfare 1 started modern shooter mania. After MW1 you need to spend more money on DLCs and mappacks or seassion passes that cost like game.

Better play Insurgency.

Eh? Aren't both by Infinity Ward?

CoD2 was for the most part arse/a slamdunk tho, yes.
Could be. I was like 90% certain they alternated between 2 devteams. Either way, CoD1 and CoDMW are the only ones you need to try.

For me in this category of games there's only Medal Of Honor : Allied Assault. I couldn't get into any CoD or any other MoH after that. I have replayed MoHAA many times, there's something about that game that feels right.

I remember playing CoD 4: MW and thinking "wowee zowie this is over the top" and doing like bro-guffaws at how Tony Scott & Michael Bay on DRUKQS it was.

Then I played the rest each year as they've come out (stopping at Ghosts because I'm only so much of a masochist, stilettos on my nutsack, bursting with blood) and I replayed MW and it's as subtle as a nuanced John le Carré novel in comparison to how fucking retarded the games get.

On a story basis, naturally. They're all hitscan baloney shooters, but the original is at least the most fun.

Since the first one. COD is Half-Life's son.

Hehe, Lyric Suite asking for advice about Call of Duty while trying hard to maintain his image.
I just arrived from the Hobbit movie thread...

COD1 + expansion and the original MW are the best. The multiplayer of COD2 and WaW were also ok.

A lot of the more recent titles use P2P matchmaking so suck completely with regards to online multiplayer unless you enjoy dying more often due to lag than player skill.

Thread could have ended here. The first one was a p. good game and captured the spirit of WWII (movies) better than anything else out there. Especially with good speakers/headphones. It's like playing Saving Private Ryan or Enemy at the Gates. Which I think is what they were going for.

Oh and it's pronounced Call of Doody.

I didn't like the first one very much either. If you want WWII atmosphere, Medal of Honor:AA was the shit.

How do you guys judge all the shooters out there? I've only played 5-10 and very casually. Never been particularly good at them. Just play them with friends usually. There's just so many out there and they mostly seem the same.

I didn't notice much of a difference between MW's multiplayer and MW2's but maybe I just forgot the differences.

Most of them ARE almost identical, that's why you remember the ones that are actually different. Such as the first CoD, Half-Life, System Shock, AVP2 etc.

Are any of the CoD games worth playing for the single-player campaign? Or are they only worthwhile for multiplayer?

A horse of course
