I guess you could say the hourglass... ran out of sand.

    :yeah:

On a more serious note, a pity but not unexpected.

I thought this was on the cards. A mass of activity for a year or two, and then...very little.

Not much must have been done, otherwise I cannot understand why you would call it a day/night. Just finish it at your leisure as a hobby.

I totally forgot about this game, but it looks there was activity going on with it until March of this year, or at least one of the devs was actively blogging about it and they were doing interviews and shit. Looks like the lead designer went through a divorce and gave up shortly after. Weird.

Apparently the modders of broken games have come full circle and are now releasing an even more broken game with the intention of leaving the modding community to fix it.

Not entirely unexpected, it seemed the team was having problems and one in particular IIRC was going through a divorce. Which can be pure hell.

Good on them if they open source this though. Perhaps some team can pick this up, introduce turn based combat, a flexible rule-system and as mod friendly as possible and we could suddenly have a massive fucking incline of cRPG gaming.

This is my shocked face, and by that I mean my expression of utter non-surprise.

Bit of a shame, but then again, the devs really enjoyed Bioware writing anyway. Ehehehe Kelsey.

I think we had the exact same discussion one year ago and i already said it will be one those ambitious indie project wich will be canceled for "real life issues". Theres nothing playable , theres maybe a few idea on papers. They have no clue , no skills, no idea how to start but they hype their project to death.
No mutants allowed show us lot of those projects , not pointing at anyone especially...

    But so did you..?

You probably shouldn't have outted your Bioware/Larian forum screenname in an old Storm of Zehir thread, see that meant I had to go looking for old dirt thanks to my unavoidable need to e-stalk anyone whenever an opportunity presents itself. I also found a bunch of other "this is hilarious in hindsight" stuff but this would be an inappropriate thread for it.

Why do so many of the NPC mods for BG2 feature androgynes with short, red hair?

I fell for the advertisement and installed it, back when I was young and naive. Never again.

Same here. Tried a few other NPC mods as well, but only very briefly.
I have still to see a very good NPC mod.

Isn't it weird that modders are able to create great quest mods, overhaul mods and graphics mods, that sometimes can reach and even surpass professional quality, but NPCs mods are always inferior to the professionally made NPCs?

Given that the original NPC were not that well-written to begin with, I guess it's even easier for aspiring modders to go overboard and write the mary sue of their dreams. At least Bioware didn't go overboard with the stats.

I usualy prefer when modders try to fix bugs or rebalance the game, but it all turns to shit when they try their hand at writing. It's like they can appreciate the mechanics but suck when it comes to storytelling or character development.

That's because playing games is conducive to understanding their mechanics but has very little to do with knowing how to write or critique writing.

Hence the shitload of people being able to offer their opinion on balance issues and the same people going TIS STORY IS PURRRFECT ITZ FUKEN EPIC

Nothing personal but this is totally you.

And I see you've removed your sig since the last time I went here cause this is what it looked like months ago:

And well that FF profile led to, uh... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1684792/61/ ... s_You_Cast
Your epic 49 chapter Knights of the Old Republic fan-fic. Which is also linked to from your old Bioware account.

    (thank goodness for google cache)

And this is the part where I would link to your alternate entries on your livejournal that were too hot for fanfiction.net but I see you've already deleted it, which is a shame, because some of your latter entries easily confirm your identity (though I think I've already done that beyond a reasonable doubt). So to get back at you for that I'll just have to embarrass you at least once more in this post:

But seriously, what did Bioware do that caused you to completely change your opinion about them and their writing? Did Gaider make fun of your fan-fic? Did the racism of Jade Empire piss you off? Did you enter adulthood and realize how silly it all was? Some combination of all three?
