    The continued Adventure of Brutilus

When we last left our hero he had just acquired a pointed stick and was well on his way to greatness.

Leaving the raiders broken and dispirited he wandered down to the Hub where he found a lovely woman stocking all manner of weaponry. With a shiny new sledgehammer in hand he went exploring.

On the eastern edge of town he met Jacob the friendly arms dealer and it was there he fell in love.

Unfortunately his pleas fell on deaf ears and Jacob kept his beloved locked away under the watchful eyes of two large men with automatic shotguns. Brutilus vowed to return one day.

Following rumors of a bastion of technology to the west Brutilus encounters the Brotherhood of Steel who send him on an epic quest to a smoking hole in the ground.

Descending with his trusty rope Brutilus explores the concept and tries to salvage some robot parts with his trusty hammer.

The giant generator in the basement resists all his attempts at percussive maintenance and Brutilus leaves The Glow with its secrets intact.

Upon his triumphant return Brutilus is given a set of nifty combat armor and is threatened with bodily harm by Rhombus.

He returns to the Hub to free his beloved from the clutches of Jacob the arms dealer.

A nearby group of thugs provides an excellent test for his new hammer's capabilities and yields up a lost BoS initiate.

For his trouble Brutilus is given a set of shiny new power armor making him look like a complete badass.

A shrill alarm from his PipBoy reminds him that his Vault is rapidly running out of water. Necropolis Ho!

Super Sledge makes squishy green things go squish!

After a brief chat with Set and a disagreement over the intricacies of etiquette in a post apocalyptic wasteland Brutilus leaves the blood splattered church and heads up to the watershed to have a chat with some mutants.

    The mutants prove suitably squishy.

Being a humantiarian(ghouliatarian?) Brutilus repairs the water pump before descending into the vault to steal their water chip. Radiated ghouls are easy to see in the dark and go down like schoolgirls on prom night.

Brutilus returns triumphant to the vault ready to retire and screw the Vault's prettiest females for the rest of his life.

His plans are cut short by some bullshit about mutants and he is once again thrown out of the vault.

This time however no rodent dares block his path and he strides into the wastelands unopposed.

Brutilus heads down south to the Boneyard where he encounters and opportunity to do some good while bashing in a few Regulator heads.

Next stop the Cathedral, their non-violent attitudes conflict with his more practical philosophy of hitting things, Brutilus' greater experience in the matter proves crucial.

Being a cunning ol' basher Brutilus sneaks into the underground vault cunningly concealing his power armor underneath the purple robe of one of the fatter congregants.

A little visit to his crazy friends in the psychic research department and Brutilus stands ready to face the Master.

Hopped up on drugs and seeing red Brutilus charges into combat and begins beating the hell out of the freaky overseer. Luckily the Master has eyes, and Brutilus knows just what to do with them.

Surrounded by mutants, low on stimpacks, what's a man to do? Once again hitting things with a big stick comes to the rescue.

The mutant guards seem rather non-plussed by Brutilus' emergence from the Master's den.

On his way back north Brutilus remembers the holo-disk Vree gave him, it's a good thing he didn't show it to the Master, wouldn't have wanted him to have been depressed in his final moments.

A little elective surgery and a run to Miles the chemist for some hardened power armor and Brutilus is ready to face the Military Base.

Brutilus wonders if the mutant guard is stupid enough to let someone in just because they're wearing a purple robe.

On his way out Brutilus realizes he hasn't killed a single thing at the military base.

    Much better.

    Victory for Brutilus.

Ending karma: Good despite serious amounts of bashing, bashing for justice!
Followers: None, couldn't bear to see Dogmeat die and the rest are useless ponces.
    Endings:
BOS - Rhombus leads Brotherhood to victory
    Necropolis - Become business men.
Hub - Destroyed by mutant army
    Junktown - Prospers under Killian
    Shady Sands - NCR
Followers - Slain in battle against mutants.

Not quite sure how I got the Necropolis ending consider the time I wasted with all my surgeries but it's a damn fine ending for a bunch of freakishly mutated humanoids.

I'd never played through Fallout 1 with a melee character but the Super Sledge is almost as ridiculous as a Turbo Plasma Rifle. My closest brush with death was during the fight with the Master when a Plasma Rifle wielding Mutant critted me to 4 HPs but the last mutants minigun spray bounced off my armor.

Anyone up for an only Throwing combat Iron man?

Playing FO1 as *pew*pew*, named for the weapons she will (hopefully) be using in the late game. First time playing as a combat-oriented character (and as a female), I won't be surprised if it ends up being a brief attempt. Chose skilled by mistake; meant to click gifted, but didn't notice my error until it was way too late.

Sadly, I forgot to get a screenshot a character creation, but here's the char sheet at level 1:

The caves were uneventful. Headed to Shady Sands.

Lacked any dynamite, went ahead to kill a radscorp for its stinger. Had to use a stimpack to survive.

Went back, traded it for the antidote, used it on the sick guy in the back room. Talked to farmer, told him it looked like his crops were doing well (INT too low for crop rotation dialogue option). Read an outdoorsmanship book. Traded knives and flares for caps. Hired Ian.

Left Shady Sands for Junktown. One rather tense moment; random encounter with lots of radscorps. Fought for a while, but Ian started running away, and before long, it became clear that I wasn't going to win that fight; I looted the corpse of the dead merchant, and ran; fortunately, both *pew*pew* and Ian survived.

Luckily, I had better luck against this pair of molerats:

Walked into Junktown (again, no screenshot); will continue later.

The short career of Hans in Bad Luck

I've decided to throw my hat into the ring. Here comes Hans the munchkin:
Tagged Energy Weapons in anticipation of the sacred Plasma Rifle, min-maxed Hans' stats badly.

Vault 15, check. "But before going there I'll look around and dust Shady Sands' cupboards a bit," Hans thought. With his lousy thief skills he didn't get too much.

Then Hans decided to pay the Radscorpions a visit. That didn't work half as well as he'd hoped. He even managed to miss the first one when it was standing right next to him. So he had to return to Shady Sands for some healing with my first scorpion tail. At least he got it for free.

The second attempt went decidedly better, and two levels were gained in the process. Yay for Hans!

Vault 15 was a real rathole. A lit flare and a knife were all Hans needed to deal with this vermin.

Now what? Can't these peasants take care of themselves for five minutes? Oh well. Hans is the good guy, and the good guy saves the princess. But this time he picks up Ian for fire support.

What's going on? They seem to be confusing Hans with someone. Good, let's play along and see where it leads.

And this is where it lead. Hopelessly outnumberd, Hans didn't stand a chance when things took a turn for the worse.

    More adventures of *pew*pew*

In Junktown, *pew*pew* paid a visit to the friendly doc. Or, more accurately, the friendly doc's basement. In there she learned that the doc was selling human meat to Bob in the hub. Next, she traveled to Killian's store, and helped to fight off an assassin.

She took Killian up on her offer to get Gizmo to confess. She got the confession via the bug she was wearing, and brought it back to Killian, and took the leather armor as a reward. She then joined Killian and his men in killing Gizmo.

After that, she wandered around town talking to people until getting threatened by the girl standing at the door to the Skullz hangout in the hotel. Rather than back down from a fight, *pew*pew* told the Skullz to "bring it on", and easily dispatched the lot of them.

Junktown wasn't happy about this. Every guard, and quite a few citizens attacked *pew*pew* on sight. She headed north, recruited Dogmeat with a leather jacket she found on one of the Skullz, then headed south, killing guards along the way, until she got to Killian's shop. Killian joined in the fighting, and *pew*pew* very nearly died here (she got down to 3 HP). A couple of stimpacks and a lucky roll or two later, she managed to survive the fight, and looted Killian's store.

With the amount of loot gained from the dead bodies, plus Killian's store, she should have lots of stuff to trade with at her next destination: The Hub.

    The continuing adventures of Brad...
After killing all the rats in the second floor, Brad found this cool jacket on one of the lockers, and some supplies. He gets to the third level and discovers that there's no water chip there, he'll have to go looking for it at some other place.

In the way here, I leveled, and chose Awareness as my first perk.

After coming back to Shady Sands, I decided to go to the radscorpions cave, and kill them all.

Before coming back to Shady though, I decided to make sure that the radscorpions have absolutely no way of coming back... (And maximize my experience points)

I gave the radscorpion venom antidote to the sick man in Razlo's house, and leveled up. Now I'm going to Junktown, which Ian put on my map. In the way there, I encountered some molerats.

After talking to Killian, I blocked the assassin's path and stole his Hunting Rifle, no one cares if you get caught. Kenji proceeded to punch Killian to death, but he was easily killed by Ian and I.

For some reason, Killian was angry after I saved his life... but I agreed to help him to get Gizmo's confession.

    Of course, I recruited Dogmeat...

    ...And Tycho.

Triggered this in order to get the Leather Armor from the guy that gets shot.

After solving this, Gizmo tried to hire me and I got his confession.

He was no match for us... I got a nice reward here.

Completed the crazy raider quest, and now I'm going to deal with the skulz gang.

EDIT: Fixed one of the links

The board has been updated, and now it's time for me to try something a little different:

Meet Blanche. An attractive and learned young lady of weak constitution, who will find herself depending upon the kindness of strangers.

After uncharacteristically getting her hands dirty for young Feargus, Blanche levels up and dumps all points into small arms. A girl's gotta protect herself, you know?

In Klamath, Blanche encounters a well-meaning mongoloid with cattle trouble. After being spooked by a radscorpion she agrees to help the Duntons, and then later saves the mongoloid in exchange for the freedom of that strapping buck negroe.

She uses the digs from all over town to trade in a gun more fitting her frame, and a leather jacket. Not the latest in fashions but it'll do in a pinch. In Trapper Town, Blanche grabs the attention of Slim. Will he be able to provide her the attention and security that she craves?

No, he was only interested in the key to the rats. Oh Slim, you could've had the key to Blanche's heart.

Urrgh, third time trying to make this post. Damn computer.

Hub. Joined Far Go Traders for discount with Beth. Sold crap to Beth. Used proceeds from Beth to buy Sniper Rifle. Went to Vault 15. Killed lots of molerats and pigrats. No chip (gee, what a surprise). Went to Necropolis. Lied to Ghoul leader, promising to fix his pump. Got a plasma pistol. Fought super mutants in water shed. HP went red twice. Ian and Dogmeat both died, as true patriots. Got water chip, brought it back. Quit, and then realized that I forgot to save since right after killing super mutants, so I get to do the Necropolis vault again.

Time for an update on Brad's adventures through the wasteland:
Brad decides to join the skulz to set them a trap, and he has to steal the bartender's cup for that.

    Time to report to Lars.

After the short assault, I gave the bartender back his cup.

For some reason, Kalnor shooted me for resting on this map until noon, I quickly ran to the exit grid, Ian killed Kalnor and Lars, so I guess I shouldn't be back on Junktown for a long time. I traveled to the Hub, and paid a visit to the Thieves' Guild.

The job was quite easy, even with my low sneak skill, me and Tycho took a little damage from the trapped strongbox, but nothing serious.

The reward: Electronic Lockpicks... useful to get into the Brotherhood...

    The adventures of Noemi

I've created another character, after Arjalys, and this time things seem to be going good! She is called Noemi, another intelligent know-it-all obnoxious female vault dweller.

Arjalys wasn't gifted but she (noemi) is to give me a better chance of survival. I made her "Gifted" and "good natured" to give me a more difficult start.

But it should be said that she is like Noemi the Fifth because between Arjalys and this incarnation of Noemi there have been other four Noemis :) Because I really didn't remember what to do after getting to the Hub. So i experimented but I finally seem to have chosen the right path.

Noemi I died some steps outside Vault 13, killed by three RadScorpions, when trying to run.
Noemi II died in the Hub, trying to help kick out the raiders who were holed up in that house.
Noemi III died in Necropolis after having tried to talk with the Supermutants.
Noemi IV died in The Glow, because she forgot that RadX pills existed.

    Here she is.

    Beware, the rat-slayer!

(in the meantime I did all the shady sands quest so I won't repeat myself)

I found this guy who is shipping body parts in the Hub for Bob, the guy who sells "iguana" on a stick!

Ian seems to have developed an habit of shooting me in the back as you can read from the log!

The skulz man insulted me so well I had to recurr to violence. I also recruited Tycho here.

I decided to blackmail Bob :D

When in the Hub I decided to leave for the Brotherhood of Steel bunker so to get their quest. I enrolled in the Crimson caravan and accepted to escort them. We met some raiders but Dogmeat died. RIP. :(

Instead of doing the things that the previous Noemi(s) did, I went to the boneyards and I found out that talking with this nice fellow gave me 1 more Luck point!

Then I decided to go to the Glow (after buying two radx pills this time!). Along the way I met this celtic guy. I singed with him an old celtic song and as a result it upped my charisma by one point. Am I lucky or what? :D

Then I explored all the Glow. I destroyed all the defenseless robots and that gave me some thousand xp points. Then in level 6 I think, I repaired the generators, and disabled the remaining security bots in level 5 by using Zax. Of course those remaining bots were also destroyed and in level 5 I found so many items that I really wasn't able to take them all. Among other things I found a combat armor (not shown in the photo) and a heavy plasma rifle. It seems I may go far this time :)

    Big update on Brad.
The Hub has some nice shops, like this one, where I got Combat Armor and the Sniper Rifle... now, to Necropolis we go.

I've decided to help those poor ghouls, fixing their watershed.

Set tried to employ me to kill the super mutants at the watershed, but he was mean, so I decided to kill him instead... :( Sadly, Dogmeat was killed in this battle, by a random Ghoul Guard... he was avenged.

I managed to trick Harry the mutant, freed the ghoul prisoner, fixed the water pump... and got the water chip. I leveled and took Bonus Move as my second perk
    [IMG]
I returned to Vault 13 and replaced the water chip, but now the overseer wants me to destroy the super mutant treat... where did I see super mutants before?

Oh right, in Necropolis. Harry took me to the Mutant Base...

At the base, I met this nice fellow.

He was VERY slow, so I ran from him...

Played with the computer here a bit...

Beautiful... my third perk is Bonus Rate of Fire:

How the hell did you manage to afford a sniper rifle and a combat armor?

Ying meats his end in the wasteland.

From his some at Vault 13 Ying travels to the Hub where he helps Irwin, well almost helps hims because one raider escapes off map. Bloody cowards!

Unable to finish the quest he rescues a fellow BoS member.

That worked well, now he travels north to search for an elusive mutant outpost.
He encounters a mutant patrol which he easily obliterates.

Right before the base he encounters another patrol, one mutant has a minigun. Fortunately for Ying a different mutant who was standing right between Ying and the Minigunner absorbs the burst and dies. One turn later another mutant takes his place, for some odd reason Ying gets a critical shot and dies whereas the mutant survives.

:( Who will stop the mutant threat now?

    The adventures of Xena

After Bastard's failure I made a more all-rounded character. Enough agility to pull off a few shots or run far enough. Enough charisma for my companions, good perception. Strenght and endurance are rather low but I'm hoping my quickness will offset that.

Anywho Xena slays a couple of ants and stands proudly on top of them with her perky boobs.

Xena does a bunch of quests in klamath and gets sulik. Then she heds off to the Den and kills the punks in the church. As you can see they made a nice circle around the door and she got to pull off some eye criticals.

Unfortunately Lara got killed so Xena didn't get all of her money.

Xena, being a warrior princess, gets bloodthirsty. She kill a bunch of no-good punks. This last fella was shot in the balls.

She decides to go to Redding to get rid of the radiation she got from the gecko caves.

On the way she and her trusty sidekick get ambushed by radscorpions, who die. Levelz!

For her first perk she picked Awareness.

After Redding she decides to wander around for some other towns. She stumbles upon a pack of fire geckos attacking a caravan. First she thinks she can just watch and have a f ew caravan guards kill the geckos with a few casualties to loot from. But the geckos are super badass. Xena helps out, using eye shots for criticals. She got pretty lucky here, so I save on 3 slots in case the game crashes. All but one of the caravan guards die, because he had run away. Xena does not honour sissies, so she kills him.

Anyways... JACKPOT! Lotsa guns, a few vindicators...

Xena decides to go to NCR to get some ammo and sell some guns. She also talks to a hubologist who boosts her luck!

Xena runs off to Vault 15 and saves a little girl. She also gets a sniper rifle! She realises she is not yet strong enough to fight the baddies inside the vault, so she rushes off to Vault City to get Cassidy.

On the way she gets attacked by some bandits. 75% of them end up with no ribcage, probably due to the point-blank sniper rifle shots.

Another encounter with a pack of dogs attacking bandits.

I think what's most interesting about all these are the guys picking Awareness. I just don't see how it provides much benefit compared to increased toughness or quick pockets.

Awareness has saved my ass quite a bit. If I know that I can kill one of the guys this round then thats one less guy shooting at me in the next one.

But even without the Awareness perk, you can still see their condition (just not the hit points). In my experience, "Almost Dead" usually means they're one hit away.

Thanks to the OP for an interesting thread. I haven't been taking screenshots or keeping a journal, but I have been playing a character through FO1 in Ironman style. Died last night, who knew that the Hub Police officers would remember me taking a pot shot at them outside of town in the dark...?

Taking away save/restore does wonders for my gameplay. I was now much more sad to see my character get shredded by an assault rifle. :)

Our next contestant is Bethesda's employee of the year, here referred to as Todd. He will attempt to persuade (read "bullshit") his way through FO2, version 1.5.

I don't know Todd's real age so this will have to do for now. As you see he has some nice skillz and doesn't need Gifted to be cool. Also, for some reason, he's running a Polish version of the game.

Here he is sneaking around some ants. He only had to kil three of them in the temple.

There we gooo... Another satisfied customer.

On his way to Klamath he encounters a caravan and some radscorpions. All he got was a few lousy tails.

DANCE, MY PUPPETS. In a few turns Lara will be knocked out and Todd will take advantage of her (by taking her pistol and ammo). Due to a bug she will not speak with him again. Oh well.

Recruited Sulik and gone hunting. Looking super in leather.

    Obvious choice.

Outdoorsman is probably a good idea for Ironman.

Generic dungeon and some bloodthirsty rats - Todd's natural habitat.

 Todd rests in pieces after an encounter with the Rat King. Sulik refused to help, probably due to a bug. Next time we'll be more careful.

I lack the wit to put something hilarious here
mirrorshades, for me at least I need as precise info as I can get in ironman. If one guy is gonna kill me next round I need to see his hp and figure wheter I can just shoot him normally (giving me 2 shots for instance) or do I have to hit him in the eyes and pray for a critical hit.

*pew*pew* continues into the watershed after killing the super mutants. First, she frees an imprisioned ghoul.

    Gets the water chip
    [IMG]

    Reports to the Overseer
    [IMG]

And, sadly, gets a new task.

Also, she does this, which is pretty much the story of my life (see textbox):

Anyways, after that, she decides to finish the missing caravans quest. So, she goes to oldtown, talks to Harold, talks to the crazy dude, and he leads her to the Deathclaw cave. Note to self: Killing the Deathclaw with only leather armor is nearly suicidal. I managed, but went through both of my super stimpacks and quite a few regular ones, thanks to some unluckily (for me) timed crits on his part.

After that experience, I went and bought some combat armor. Current char. sheet:

Ha! Indeed. We're still working, still making progress. We've got the first 12-15 hours in pretty good shape right now. It's just a matter of time before we'll have a full progression that is relatively bug free, and then we'll do the publicclosedbeta dance, fix everything that is discovered and it'll be ready to go. Come hell or high water we're releasing Purgatorio no latter than a fully year after we started planning and pre-production (September 12, 2007-September 12, 2008). That's our drop dead date. The module will be released by or on that date no matter what. I am still optimistic that we can beat that date.

Back on the matter at hand, I think I'm going to tag throwing, I've never relied heavily on throwing shit at people, sounds like fun, maybe jack up the HP as high as possible so I can rely on suicide bombing techniques with dynamite and point blank nade tosses. Steal will be tagged as well for planting said dynamite on Ian after I foolishly barter him the SMG and get shot in the back in Junktown one too many times.

*pew*pew* then went to the Hub Cathedral to get some COC robes that she hoped would be useful later on. The doctor caught her, and she had to kill a few COC members:

Luckily, I succeeded, and got a robe and 2 RadX.

Then,*pew*pew* went to The Brotherhood, and got The Glow quest. She headed to The Glow
    [IMG]
And realized that she didn't have a rope. She left, returned to The Hub, and bought a rope and 2 more Rad Xs. Then, she returned to The Glow, took RadXs, got the Holodisk, returned to the Brotherhood. Got a Brotherhood Comat Armor. Also, she Got a quest to find a Brotherhood member in the Hub. Freed him.

Went to Kyle to get some Power Armor. Asked Michael for the regulator, he wouldn't give it to her. Tried to talk to Rhombus, got kicked out of the Brotherhood, sans Power Armor, sans Vree's holodisc, sans operations. At this point, she realized that she was pretty well fucked, but she held out until the bitter end. I thought I took a screenshot here, but it didn't appear in my folder :?

She then went to The Boneyard. She learned about the Mayor's son, and accepted the quest to kill the leader of the Razors. Talked to the leader, learned their side of the story.

:( Accepted the quest to get the Gunrunners to arm them. Went to the area to the west. Killed the first Deathclaw very easily. Got owned by the second one (the bastard critted me for 34 HP on just about every other turn, keeping me from making any aimed shots). I thought I got a screenshot of the fight, but again, it failed to appear in my folder.

The beginning of Jewy's Adventure in Fallout 2:

Jewy obviously won't be one to talk himself out of anything and instead will be punching people to death and unable to do any useful skill.

Jewy easily punches his way through the Temple of Trials, most ants and scorpions die in one to two punches. He also defeats the tribal at the exit within two turns.

    In the temple:

After exiting the temple Jewy levels up:

He assists in returning Smoke to his cousin, and kills the spore plants. Jewy tries to look for plants for more healing powders but never finds any Xander root.

Jewy then left for Klamath to look for Vic.

Here Jewy met Torr who he decided to assist with his brahmin. He then went over to the Dunton brothers and got Torr to leave his brahmin. Afterwards Jewy then ended the scorpion threat, because he needs experience points:

From here Jewy went to recruit Sulik, searched around and sold most of the worthless things he found, including scorpion tails to pay off the 350 dollar debt. He did so, and Sulik was his.

Jewy then went to talk to the Dunton brothers. He decided to give them lip and ended up having to murder them, Jewy then looted their bodies and made sure to equip the spiked knuckles for his own use. He then went to the Buckner Bar and bartered for some Leather armor, rather than get the cheaper leather jacket.

From here Jewy went to Mr. Sullivan and learned some more about hand-to-hand combat, and then went to find Torr. He fought off the robot while Sulik literally did nothing and just stood there, never even had a turn. But luckily the hero defeated the robot:

He returned Torr to Buckner and then gets the quest to find Buckner's man. Now Jewy must decide, will he continue his mission to find Vic? or will he first stop off to find Buckner's man?
