There's is nothing gay about Elf, the whole point of the game is to rescue your girlfriend Elisa and make sweet, sweet hot Elf love with her and her hot twin sister.

(It's possible that I misremember that last part. )

edit:

Elf has a very spooky animated game over screen:

saw this an awful lot because the game is very challenging

Another box art I love. Sim City 2000.

Bliss city from Utopia R us. Except the invading ufo maybe. The pic also has that fantastic 70-80 Sci-fi feel to it. Really like it, the attention to detail especially.
It really invites you in to make the best possible city you can.

There's an entire art discipline devoted to this kind of work.

I don't think I've played this last one (maybe a demo?) but I remember the cover very well for some reason.

Looked a lot better in real life, the box was SUPER glossy and SUPER bright.

I love the LP thing and TBT's bo looks like a Jethro Tull-kinda deal which is only incline in my book.
I wish more people did that instead of just generic boxes (IF they do boxes at all).

Sega Genesis had some cool and original gameplay ideas, but unfortunately couldn't deliver the box covers worthy of them.

Like the game where you play as a fucking MONSTER SLIME

Or the one where you play as an invisible poltergeist, and your goal is to scare the shit out of people.

Those covers kinda reflect the ideas behind the games, but they are so uninspired.

Imagine that cover in 2015 and the Twitterati inquisition that would follow.

Apparently it's based on a softcore porn movie or something like that.

Michael Ninn's Latex: The Game is a point-and-click adult adventure, based on the full x-rated video Latex. The player travels through Alphaville, a dark and futuristic city. The story unfolds as the player views video kiosks and gains entrance to secret corridors and rooms where more about the inner thoughts and experiences of Malcolm Stevens can be learned, a psychotic who has the ability to read people's minds and sexual fantasies.
