Hello, there. Yes, I'm ashamed, but the truth must be told.
The apologists in this thread are clearly Gearbox shills. All Borderlands 2 weapons within the same class, regardless of manufacturer or parts, feel and play pretty much the same as all the other weapons within the same class. They vary only by degrees in aspects such as rounds per second, magazine capacity, inherent accuracy, elemental properties and so on.
There are a few exceptions, such as elemental railguns that play somewhat differently than the standard sniper rifles they're based on, but again, these are exceptions and are essentially different classes of weapon in and of themselves. There are also some unique legendary weapons that have a genuinely unique feel, such as the Pitchfork, which is a sniper rifle that shoots a pitchfork-themed line of energy beams across the field. Due to the game's completely fucking dumbass MMO-mimicking level scaling and loot tables, however, these weapons—which must also be grinded for MMO-style, unlike the original Borderlands—rapidly become too weak to use and must be replaced 2-3 levels after finding them, unless you're already at the level cap. This may also sound MMO-like, and it is, because in the original Borderlands, you could use a good weapon for a dozen or more character levels before it became ineffective. In Borderlands 2, enemy and item stats increase exponentially every few level-ups, so you must constantly replace all of your gear.
In short, there are about a dozen or so "standard" (this includes e-tech) weapons in Borderlands 2 varying only by degrees (mainly stats, not feel), as well as a handful or two of rare legendaries with genuinely unique characteristics, but which are rare as balls and you'll only be able to use for a short period of time. Also, there are a shitload of horrible parts combinations and gimmicky bullet types which no one in their right mind would ever use, which even still are very much like other weapons within the same class.
Needless to say, I had 0 (zero) hype for the Pre-Order Our DLC Pre-Sequel, as the franchise is now utter trash and the people defending it are simply trying to save face and/or can't handle being faced with their own stupidity in enjoying such total garbage to begin with.
