I think there will be different bosses and new environments; my understanding is the game will remain the same length roughly (a good thing, imo), but there will be more variation. For example, instead of basement 1 and 2, you'll have a chance to go through attic 1 and 2, or something like that.

Also, it appears some stuff came up and they're now shooting for late May release, and trailer in a couple of days. http://www.formspring.me/EdmundM

And speaking of a roguelike / metroidvania game, A Valley Without Wind is apparently out, anyone try it?

Can't help but wonder how much sooner the expansion might have come out without the damned trailer. Arghhh. Want more Isaac. I plan to wipe my old file when it comes out and start fresh.

Not sure that's a good idea as I think the content doesn't unlock until you've hit certain prerequisites in the base game. It's more of a 'game+' mode.

Maybe but I don't want it to be too easy, and I've already unlocked everything. Shit like the pony, brimstone, mom's knife, etc. is really fucking overpowered. Game was much harder when you had to rely on fewer, crappier items.

Really looking forward to this, Binding Of Isaac was my personal GOTY last year. Now if only they could port this to a better engine or at least make it use hardware acceleration, I'd be a happy camper.

Probably should play a bit before the expansion hits. I only got (IIRC) to game 3 or so. Actually mom twice I think, certainly never got to the hell level. Definitely going to grab the expansion and hope not all the additions are for super late game.

I think I have 80 or so hours -- Golden God achievement! :smug: Fortunately it isn't really about avoidance/skill but finding the right item combinations and having some luck in the drop department.

Yeah I got all the achievements too. The no damage ones are outright impossible in some situations and definitely a million times easier with something like the Dr. Fetus + shovel combo/emperor cards.

There's tons of cool tricks and nuances to the game to learn though, I always rage when I watch people play on youtube and they do shit wrong.

I for one are NOT going to get it, simply because it would keep me from playing other games :)

I got the game as a freebie addition to the Humble Voxatron 'bundle' so I'll definitely 'preorder' this at $3.

I got Golden God but couldn't be assed to do the no-damage runs apart from the basement. If there was a way to start at whatever level you wanted to no-dmg run, I probably would have put more effort into it. Maybe with the expansion I'll give those 3 achievements a run; I've got all the other ones.

Definitely picking this up; feel a little bad grabbing the original on sale for $2.50.

I got the no damage runs way before golden god. L2 dodge nub. (Or be a pussy like me and use shit like mom's pad and the book of shadows on any room that looks slightly difficult.) Depths was definitely the worst. It has those mazelike rooms that are mostly chasm that can have either the charging grub things or rolling guys, both of which will fuck if if you don't have a good way out (technically the guts can be dodged but your window to act is like half a second.) as well as shit like leaper rooms with multiple stone heads.

I'm surprised there's going to be yet another final boss. I recall him saying he didn't want to add one because the game is already much longer than he'd intended. Not that I mind. What I really wish he'd add though are some sort of challenge modes or scores or something. Even if it just kept track of the number of hits you took on your run or something simple like that. Getting better at a game feels hollow when there's nothing to gauge yourself by.

Eh, I just need to focus on it. I've done a number of runs that were close (with ??? they sort of have to be), but ended up getting a difficult boss or whiffing a dodge.

I could be wrong, but from what I remember gleaning from Formspring, the new final boss going to be an alternate, not an extension. I agree that more stat tracking/scoring type stuff would be great. In a similar vein, it would be cool if it saved all your versions of the characters with various power ups and stuff to browse through, with stats on each. Kind of like a top score board, I suppose.

Why is this not out yet?

Seems the original is having some kind of sale though.

It is out. It's just not linked properly to the original yet. Just search the store for Isaac.

Installed it and played a bit, either my skills have deteriorated from not playing it for a few months or the new additons made it quite harder since I got my ass kicked pretty fast

Some of the new enemies are definitely harder, but a lot of the new items are seriously overpowered too. A lot of thm are combos of old items, like one (two?) give you flying + oujia board at the same time. The sacred hearts or whatever are a huge boon too if you use them properly. (Keep them until the end of the level or get a whole white heart at once.)

Lucked out with 99 bombs as my first pick-up and it all snowballed from there, killed the Mom fairly quickly and easily. Looks like tear effects stack better than previously and get to proper damage levels.

    What do Caps do?
