Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
One of those little things that people may not know about: I was looking through the documentation for Crusader: No Remorse, where there's a "newspaper" with articles about various subjects. One of these articles is titled "True Artificial Intelligence on the horizon".

It's mostly about a lecture held in Chicago where some doctor held a well-received presentation on the capabilities of true artificial intelligence, like how it could run an orbital research facility by itself, even if the crew exceeded more than 1000 people. A follow-up lecture will speak of recent developments in biomechanical enhancements for military and security purposes.

If any of this sounds familiar, it's because the AI development program is codenamed "Project SHODAN"...

Yeah, I've heard of that, I think. There's probably Wing Commander references too. Origin did that kind of stuff.

So I work at a lawn care place and I shit you not there is a chainsaw here that would qualify as a Longsword in Monster Hunter.

There's a small family business in my country called XCOM. They mostly do technical support stuff. When the reboot was launched, 2k contacted this family, asking them to change the business' name, but they told them to fuck off and, to this day, this small business is still called XCOM

I've heard of a similar case from Iceland. Can't remember all the details, but IIRC two brothers were members in a local band in the late 90s which caught a small break and were booked on a small tour in the US. Just before the tour starts, the band is hit by a Cease & Desist order. Reason? Their last names, fully-legal Icelandic last names, were violating copyright. Their father's name? Hans. Their last names? Hanson.

Naturally they refused to change their names, so they never played in the US.

In case anyone's wondering, the video above is not pulling your leg. It's legit. I looked it up.

EDIT: That's a bloody good channel you've showed me there, Astral Rag I was dumbstruck by this video here in particular:

In this video he talks about the European-only Thundercats game, and the story behind it. As someone who has played all the games he brings up in the video, I can safely say that he's dead on: Bomb Jack 2 IS a hastily converted Thundercats game, Beyond the Ice Palace could easily be a re-sprited Thundercats game, and the true Thundercats game is a re-sprited game called Samurai Dawn.

Xfire shutting down after 12 years.

"Dear Xfire users - It is with sadness that we must announce that the Xfire Social services will be shutdown on Friday. Please visit social.xfire.com to download your video/screenshot data. We apologize for the short notice - Xfire Community Team"

And that site is not only hammered (obviously) but some people (like me) just forgot their old nicknames.
I used it more than Steam before. My top3 on Xfire have more hours than all games played in my Steam library multiplied by 3...

My humble contribution.

Ubisoft opened a survey https://ubisoft.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/ph/acs-opinion-crm/

This is centered around the AssCreed series. A few points to consider: when they ask you about your favorite games, Witcher 2 is included in the options. As you remember, Witcher 2 has an easter egg which mocks AssCreed. You could choose many options in this list, but if you pick Witcher 2, the others get locked.

Also, when you're asked about which games are you looking forward to, they include the new TES, which they call "Skyrim 2".

And they ask you if you get your info from specialist gaming sites, like kotaku.

Still, you get to say Ubisoft their products suck, so if you're extremely bored, give it a shot.

Google, google, clicky clicky clicky.
What do we have here?
Let us also not forget how outright shitty many of BG II's mechanics were by modern standards. Just to name a few:

Randomized character creation. Yes, let's make the very first thing you do in the game a choice between repeatedly and tediously clicking a button and adding up the results, and lower permanent statistics.
The percentage die tacked onto 18 Strength, which manages to be both random and arbitrary.
THAC0. Gratuitously unintuitive.
ALL THE TABLES. What is this, MySQL Simulator?
Does this peasant even heard about 2nd edition?

The funny thing is that by the chosen few issues he came up with, BGII's mechanics were all amazing and only had some very superficial 'problems', even for the modern audience. So, yeah, its an obvious troll.
