Shocking as it may be, most furries are pretty much just regular guys.

This was argued so much back in the day. If you ask a furry, the definition is usually "someone who likes anthro animals". If you ask some guy from 4chan, it's "FAGGOTS WEARING FURSUITS RAPING THEIR PET CATS AND JACKING OFF TO DISNEY MOVIES"

Well, that's different from what Western had mentioned. Furries do have a subculture going on, so looking stupid or wearing fursuits at conventions is a thing that happens, but otherkin are the ones who actually want to be animals or think that they are part animal. There's definitely overlap, but one is so much farther gone than the other.

Indeed. The rabbit hole never ends. Otherkin like to distinguish themselves from furries because the former is about bullshitting the multiverse theory with a good dose of reincarnation, whereas the latter is a wide animal fandom. The overlap lies in how 'identifying' as an animal through the internet can bring you closer to the otherkin spectrum and, I think that's when you're in therian territory. All three groups hate each other -- the otherkin think that furries are sexual deviants and the furries think that the otherkin take themselves too seriously. And the werewolf kins are the unholy union of both lineages.

If that was directed at me, I don't hate bronies or furries. Furries pissed off channers so they're ok in my book, and a lot of bronies manage to act retarded enough to generate some serious comedy value - although bronies at the peak of MLP's popularity were really really obnoxious.

They're both ultimately harmless and inoffensive groups though. If I had to pick an internet subculture to actually hate it'd have to be, like, Stormfront or something.
