Thing is, Biodrones, creepy as they are, usually don't champion Bioware games as revolutionary and genre-defining
Nah, most of them genuinely think Mass Effect is the ultimate evolution of RPGs (with Dragon Age being an old-school nostalgic nod to the ancient classics like KotOR which paved the way for ME)

I guess, maybe diehards on BSN proper, but I've never seen this view embraced anywhere else. While with TWD, you had Nathan Grayson on RPS bring it up all the time as the pinnacle of storytelling and reactivity in games.

I get the impression that Biofans want specific things in their games. They want to go on swashbuckling adventures with a group of best buds who they may or may not bone along the way.

However, they do seem to acknowledge that this is a preference and not objectively the only way to make an RPG. They wouldn't claim that Dark Souls or the latest Bethesda game are not RPGs because of the lack of companions. Likewise, I don't see a lot of them saying that Dragon Age: Origins is objectively superior to Baldur's Gate 2 because you can see the fear in the orks eye.

I don't think it's fair to categorize all Telltale fans as Nathan Graysons just because he has a large soap box from which to preach. From reading the Doublefine forum, I get the impression that Telltale fans appreciate the lack of difficulty in getting their emotional engagement. Rarely does one of them claim that something like Monkey Island is an inferior game, just a different experience from what they want.

Dark Souls is already on the 14 position of best RPG in this very site. Soon it will claim his rightful place under the trinity of flawed games the codex holds dear. It's irrelevant if DS is "revolutionary" or "gender-defining". DS it's just a fucking good game borderline perfect, period. I have played the best games of the crpg genre such as BAK, Darklands, Star Control 2, Interplay crpgs, Bioware classics and the ultrashitty Arcanum and i can say that DS is just as good, but since many of these games have outdated tech, then DS is the superior title. Better suck it down bros.

Borderline perfect is how I described it after playing it for a bit. I don't know that it is, but at the time it certainly felt like it.

It is indeed an excellent all-time classic.

If only it didn't have the most obnoxious suburban emo gothic fanbase.

I remember when I imported the English Asian version of Demon's Souls for PS3 and how I liked it.

These games were actually more enjoyable before they were cool.

I dunno, how does a bunch of fanfics impede your enjoyment of a good game?
There's a shit ton of Street Fighter porn arts and fanfictions, does that make it a shitty fighting game?
Nope, it still has yearly majors and monthly small tourneys.

The only bad thing about fanbase is when they deny there's a shortcoming of a game or a franchise and the developers are not getting the clear signal to improve their game.
If these sequels or new iterations continue to be bad yet sells by the truckload, then I have an issue with it.

The difference is that you have it rubbed in your face every day, since they have turned it into a cultural meme, and game bloggers plug it in order to "prove" their audience how "hardcore" they are, along with many game designers.

And yeah, they're still making the sequel playable with KB & M+M cause the fans are happy with glorious gempeds.
So you deserve what you get, darkfags.

I played it with Kb+mouse. This community has a history of liking games with bad or outdated interfaces, so i don't see much of a problem with DS. I could understand if we were talking about terribad interfaces such as Metal Gear Solid 2 or RE4, but DS is a far cry from it.

Yeah, not really. Most of it ranges from passable to cringe-worthy. Love how the LOL-SO-WAAAAACKY pink girl's battle cry is done in a 'I-want-to-yell-but-I'm-afraid-of-waking-my-mom-up' whisper, especially.

Nicest thing I can really say about most of it is at least a majority of the performances didn't have the common "I'm performing oral sex on my $20 Wallmart headset" feedback issues which most of these mods have.

Whole thing just looks like it fails due to the "RANDUMB = funny" and "References are jokes" pitfalls that alot of aspiring online comedy 'writers' who've been watching too much Invader Zim and Family Guy fall prey to.

One of the worst camera/lock-on systems of all time.

Are you talking about RE4 in general or just the PC version?

http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/25/5431382/the-internet-is-fucked

I know it's now a gaming site per se, but it seems like the relevant thread. The Verge has an article saying "The Internet is f*****". What kind of supposedly respectable publication publishes a gross swear word right on the front page?

It reminds me of the live stream for the last iPad unveiling where the two hosts were insufferable and kept whining all the time, and said that if you still bought an iPad 2 you should kill yourself.

What kind of disgusting subhumans go on to become Internet bloggers?
