Was outpost 1 really that bad? I have some good memories of it, but I was young and stupid.
Oh, it was bad. Hugely buggy and unfinished. There were a lot of promised features (that even made their way into the game manual) that were never delivered on, or kinda-sorta-not-really added in later patches. Then what they had ended up being pretty mediocre - kinda shallow and not super fun. It basically got released in beta state.
I did the same when I was a kid. I mean, when you're young and you see a cool sci-fi strategy game by Sierra sitting in the bargain bin for six bucks, you don't stop to wonder why it's there if it came out less than a year ago.
It's really a shame, too. Such a cool game concept. I love the idea of a more SimCity-esque take on scifi, and super hard scifi at that.
