The number of items you can see at at a time should also be increased. Looting items or buying things in BG is as bad as any modern multiplatform thing.

It's impossible to script item autopickup (even with bags of holding or whatever) because the scripting language only has "write functions" for inventory. You can "put something in inventory", but you can't "put something on a slot", or a bag, or even to find what is in a inventory slot.

You can't even select particular objects to autopickup, because while it seems that it would work, using object specifiers (and they did plan something like that, like this table shows), that was never implemented.

This is what happens when programmers don't read their ADT books :rpgcodex: - modders can't fix it

Well, it's not like Trent Oster was going to be able to implement a better system anyway...the more I hear from this project, the worst it sound.

Asc64 has returned and informed us that he has not been contacted. Combining this with Beamdog's horrible fucking EULA (no purchase, just an un-resellable license a la Ubishit) makes me think this thing has zero chance of being good.

Hadn't checked this thread or the site for a bit. Went on baldursgate.com. Saw the pic after clicking enter site.

I liked Dungeon Siege 1's inventory where you had a "sort" button that did all the "tetris" work for you. I would like to see armour being bigger than a potion in the inventory, so no one-size-fits-all for me.

Exactly. Anyway it's pretty gutless of them to say that the success of future loved franchises depends on buying the shit they're peddling today. How is that different from every other studio?

What is this enhancing bullshit. The only thing they could do is introducing a grid and turns in combat. That would be something. Otherwise they should enhance their faces and shut the fuck up.

They already said the same for a Planescape Enhanced Edition, AND for for a Baldurs Gate III...I feel that my duty as a fan of the series is to hope that he fails completly at BG EE and leave the others alone, as I have absolutly no faith in this douchebag.

I don't often agree with these kinds of statements but I honestly find myself drawn to this. I despise what they are doing. If it was a game that was really old, or didn't run on modern PCs, or just looked terrible and desperately needed a makeover, then fine. But people can buy these games from GOG.com, they work fine, there's even patches out there for people who want high-res and that kind of stuff. So I think what these guys are doing is tantamount to stealing.

    STAY AWAY MOTHERFUCKERS

Really now.. I was secretly hoping that OBS was working on some IWD successor but with this news coming out it seems that yet another classic will get abused.

So if I buy BG EE, BG2 EE, IWD EE, IWD2 EE, PS:T EE, we might see a new game BG3 done by them?

The ONLY BG III is The Black Hound. But that isn't going to happen. I don't think they could come up with anything remotely interesting as that.

IF they can fix the RAGE INDUCING pathfinding, That would however be sweet.

I know infinity games have a bad pathfinding, but I never found it so rage inducting....even in tight mazes it works well enough IF you make your party follow the leader instead walk in formations.

I'm pretty convinced from their mediocre effort with MDK2HD, and all the scaling back of expectations they've been exhorting, that this is just one step above vaporware. Is shovelware still a term that's used?

It's terrible, actually. I knew that some current modders and admins would have Beamdog connections, but it's worse than I thought. Admins that run some modding sites are doing low-profile shilling, like trying to convince people that upscaling the graphics is some kind of longed-for mega-improvement instead of just a base requirement to port it to ipads.

Whats the big deal, not like Icewind Dale was a great franchise anyway. Good hack and slash, true, but its all about the setting. Dogs can have it for what I care.

They can always make a spiritual successor with different name.

What would BG3 be about anyway? Your party was on demi god level TOB anyway and I am not sure where can the story continue. Another rpg in same setting would be preferable, even some sort of spin off but not continuation.

It's sure to happen if they insist on selling their "remakes" exclusively through their own service.
