They could have removed a bit of the fog at least.
I'm curious about the figures behind this. I don't remember prices quadrupling or anything, yet making a game with up to 2h of film, including always a couple famous actors, doesn't sound cheap. I wonder if it made companies go broke?
Wing Commander III ultimately cost $4 million to produce.
WCIV was produced on the then-unheard-of-for-a-video-game budget of $12 million USD. The majority of this budget went into the production of the game's full motion video scenes, which were shot on actual sets instead of a greenscreen and using 35mm film instead of digital capture.
According to wikipedia list of best sold games, WC3 sold 1 million copies. If I remember correctly games costed around 30-35 bucks back then? Sounds like they did well.
That was pretty awesome, though.
I choose "what a time"What a waste or time
Westwood cutscenes were on whole other level. That was pretty awesome, though.Yeah, early days of any technology tend to do that. I remember the days when CD games arrived, and suddenly every game needed 3 hours of cutscenes with real actors.
I mean... there were people not loving all those wonderful cheesy C&C, Emperor: Battle for Dune, MechWarrior 4, etc. scenes?
I really miss them. Much better than most in-game stuff.
What texture pack, you don't even get that.A $20 texture pack, and a really bad one. What a shameless ripoff.
Those are even the same low poly models from the original!
I don't know what's worse, these amateurish modders calling themselves "developers" or the consumers thatbuyeat theirproductscrap.
