TL;DR He likes gameplay and sound, but recommends wait for sale due to performance issues.


Tell the guy he would get a better deal and bigger bang for his buck in Bangkok if ladyboys is his thing. At least, he won't get performance issues there as they are more focused on performance rather than preaching their religion.

I finished the first two missions,the game is so slow. Both in gameplay and mechanical way,it loads for a few minutes while looking like garbage. Gameplay wise,they decided to keep the unskippable animation and add unskippable voice acting telling you what just happened. You can't act while the idiot is telling you how he got hit for two damage and lost some armour. The first mission took me an hour because the walking animations for a crippled mech are extremely slow. Thou i got a chuckle out if it at the end,it was amusing to see the nigger threatening four mechs while having a mech with no arms and crippled leg.

The second mission really pissed me off because of bad luck. Two of my drivers got injured for a month from insignificant damage. They got hit for 4 damage and oh no they are dying.

Also the game is SJW as they come,don't know if i will have the nerves to finish this pile of shit. Kalarion pointed out how bad the story and the writing is,he is 100% on point.

Nah,they are extremely ugly,i mistook them for men. This game is turning out to be a disappointing pile of shit. I had such high hopes for today,it turned out the be two disappointments. Meh,at least i made some nice caramel custard today.

Lol! Sorry. I was reading fantadomat's review about the sjw (tranny) shit and the "performance issues". And the fact that I was laughing about people paying money for this crap, well, the obvious link happened :)

There's plenty of more elaborate bullshit excuses to be made for why giant robots > everything else, but even something that simply would be preferable to just trying to ignore the elephant in the room.

Does that bother you with Japanese mecha as well? Since you know those are so far off from the realm of reality as you could possibly make them.

Maybe you should go out and see actual people instead of acting as women to be competent MUST be ugly. They made those women ugly either because either they have not seen a semi-attractive women in their life or because SJW do not tolerate the notion women can be attractive (since they are not).

I'm tempted to try this, but I have a pretty low opinion of the HBS Shadowrun games. How would you compare BT to them quality-wise?

A general problem of mecha games in general rears its head in the game tho, which is that the weapon sounds are kind of anemic and lack a sense of oomph.

I did like Raju's Centurion's uppercut melee animation tho, and even the Blackjack headbutt ram is quite fun to look at. Additionally I am very glad that jump jets are extremely good in this game, because I have a obsessive compulsion that makes me slap jump jets on any mech I can.

(Also personally I'm partial to autocannons as full auto weapons rather than as tank guns, but whatevs)

It does, but at this point we accept that its Rule of Cool and whatever halfway decent handwavy explanation they give is fine. In classic Gundam, it's about "minovsky particles" messing with conventional warfare. In Muv-Luv, it's about the internal structure of alien hives. In Macross, mechs transform into fighter jets depending on the theater. In Pacific Rim, it's because... because... because fuck you, that's why.
A very case in point example of mecha's pivotal importance would be the AT Field. Invulnerable to all forms of attack save by another AT Field, even atomic weapons or equivalent non-nuclear N2 Bomb can at best hope to make surface burns that are regenerated in short order. And only Angels and Evangelions can deploy their AT Field in such a manner. And even if your tactical advantage allows your conventional troops to blow up the Umbilical Cable, those five minutes aren't going to do you any favors when you're up against something that has the manual force to lift and hurl a battleship to crush your entire tank column against their mountainside. That's a kind of mecha that's a too much to be something suitable for war fiction tho.

But yea, it does bother me whenever it rears its head and is as notable is in case of BattleTech's universe. That is to say, the question of "why are these mecha so important in this world", not that they exist because they're fictional things and don't actually need to follow laws of physics or any world-laming things like that.

It's not like lowkey real robots can't be done very well tho. For example PatLABOR mecha only ignore the problem with a giant robot being unable to function on most terrain, in that world mecha aren't treated particularly different from any other sort of vehicle, and a tank much less a gunship is extremely dangerous. Usually though, a key thing there is really to just not establish the mecha as a kind of ultimate weapon.

But if you do establish the mecha as the ultimate weapon, you really do need to back it up. BattleTech has never backed this up, there's internally no reason for the mechs to be as important as they are. Hence, the 'mechs lack of magical powers bothers me.

There is literally nothing "SJW" after the first 2-3 missions, apart from the famous "THEY" that triggers all the incels.

For all its flaws, Hawken did one thing right: sound design. the weapons sound punchy and dramatic, and the canons/railguns sound like they are actually hurling massive pieces of metal across the map.
