If you play the attacking side on a convoy in multiplayer, you will also be able to see the transports regardless of where they are. You can't hide an objective.

That's odd, because some guide I was reading (convoy attack/defense was only a small part of it) suggested ways to hide convoys from the enemy in multiplayer, and it was a fairly long and in-depth guide. I skimmed it because I doubt I'll be playing the multiplayer.

In any event, if the transports can be seen at all times, then in my view it's a pretty shit game mode with few if any redeeming qualities. The one good quality, perhaps, is that the transports can serve as a means to lure the attackers in ways you might like to lure them, with the caveat that it's also an I WIN button for the offense. Sort of like danging your junk in front of a wolf so you can club it in the head, I guess.

Escort missions are super easy, at least on Hard difficulty.
I just put 2 transports on one edge of map and tell them to go their objective as near as possible to the edge. Other 4 are put on another edge of map and are being guarded by all my ships. What AI does is send at least two ships to kill those two separated escorts while my ships mop up what is coming towards the 4 other transports. At best AI kills one of the unguarded transports.

This mission where you are the attacker are the easiest, you just rush for transports and those that don't die to missiles, Nova or Bombers, you ram them to death.

I've been solo skirmishing with Eldar quite a lot and am enjoying it, despite losing skirmishes on the regular at first, since Eldar ships are good and fast. Controlling them and their pulsars elegantly, however, is another story. The limitations of the settings and controls (for weapon facing, range, move/attack order priority, etc.) become very apparent, and micromanagement feels kludgy and fiddly at best.

I can't help but think that, like most other games of this kind, it would be a lot more satisfying if it were turn-based or phase-based... you know, like the game it's based on.

I absolutely hate that this game is about mashing buttons and is not turn based
Thousands of hullpoints wtf
Ships look pretty and I hope Forgeworld would make new resin models from these eldar ships soon - after all, it's free models already to make molds from
I liked music and some cutscenes especially this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INPgubrPpZg&feature=youtu.be&t=1222

Trying to control more than 3-4 eldar ships with pulsars makes me fly into rage and go smashing things around the room
And why doesn't sun orientation matter ffs

And why is there only Imperial campaign while missions are samy... why not 3-4 campaigns like in DoW

The other issue with Eldar aside from the obnoxious micromanagement and kludgy controls is that random environmental effects like radiation harm them FAR more than any other race. You can't load down every ship with probe launchers, and probes are sometimes dodged, so having to get within two inches of a blip before your pulsars can auto-fire is total shit.

Now, you can still fire the pulsars manually at blips, but that's even more fiddly and kludgy.

Of course, when Eldar ships are being used by the AI, the computer doesn't suffer from the limitations of man-machine interfaces and thinks as quickly as a computer, so for it, micromanaging Eldar is no problem (not that the AI doesn't have weaknesses too, even when playing Eldar).

I had some fun playing this game, but at the moment I'm feeling some slight regret about buying it. Maybe in six months it'll be patched, polished, modded, and overall improved.

Started playing this. I have two questions:

Can I play against friends and still get renown/xp ?
How the fuck does one play eldar? They seem to have crippling disadvantages and not that many actual advantages.

I don't know how they changed them in recent patches but before you would use silent running and range upgrades for their front laser beams (whatever they are called). You would barely get into range of those weapons, fire them all and the turn around immediately and speed away. Then repeat the whole process until enemy ships are dead.

Are there any codexers playing this who would like to do some multiplayer?

Playing randoms is alright, but not as cool or fast to learn.

Does this game have 3rd dimension like homeworld? Or is it flat with pretty space backgrounds (like Empire at War)? If the latter, fuck off

Too bad it's not a campaign expansion.
Imagine if it was though. Oh Em Gee. Tau Campaign DLC. I'd :d1p: that shit in an instant.

GW's attempts to promote TAU is exactly like Biowhore promote SJW. "If we show this crap everywhere and let them win vs everyone people will surely love them!"

GW is shit at everything, news at 11. On the other hand, Blanche's Tau are ... almost good. But the man made even Sigmarines look awesome.

So this game is 60% off on Steam right now, but most recent reviews say that devs abandoned it and MP is pretty much dead. Sucks if it's true.

Campaign was pretty fun but I can imagine MP being abandoned. It was kind of same, each matched played the same and each faction had basically one best way to play.

Trying to learn this game. Tab selects the next ship...but doesn't center on it, so I have no idea where it is. I don't see a "center on selected ship" hotkey. Am I missing something?
