Was gonna come here and complain how boring the game was after playing the first mission, but the escort's been a lot of fun. Game has promise. I like the UI, the map zoom levels. Needs adjustable animation speed though.

so, since this one is selling on GOG

how's the story? :codexisfor:
Most of the times I need some motivation to play strategy games.

For comparison purposes, how does it fare against like the one in SC1? (not much of worthy candidate I know, but oh well)

The game sounds pretty good. I'm always looking for challenges in titles like this.

Is there any kind of difference between the armies you control in the 2 campaigns?

That mission, oh man.

It was frustrating to begin with and I caught myself thinking "why the fuck would they implement an escort mission as their second mission?" Then I changed my tactics and absolutely crushed it.

However, the mission does highlight the biggest problem with the game: movement. When you're just moving from place to place, the action system is a fucking pain in the ass. That, however, seems to be the game's only noteworthy issue. I was unfair to the interface as well, it's actually pretty servicable, and documenation ain't bad.

If they could somehow fix movement, everything would be peachy.

I've bought it on gog, wanted to register but as far as I have seen I'm missing the cd key for the game. Did anyone have the same problem? I checked my account page, but there was nothing there.

Open the game on your account page and it should be listed as your "serial number":
If it's not then I suggest contacting support.

Yes, there was an issue. Support resolved it and I have the number now listed.

What's the problem? That you have to click twice to move a second time?

That and that you have to keep track manually of the state of the units. Some visual aid to quickly identify "depleted" units would go places. Also a next unmoved unit button. Also unit path memory. Also command queue.

Yes. Moving, say, 10 units over the course of three turns is a billion clicks. Reminds me of CiV and its 1-unit-per-tile system. Much would be solved if units had a yellow and red movement counter, so that you knew moving into red would cost two actions.

I really do find this more troublesome than it sounds. When you play three scenarios in a row, it gets on your nerves.

Dunno, I find the animation speed more bothersome. While one unit is moving I order the next one, then switch back to the first while the other is moving... Yeah ok, it could use some polish all around.

Perhaps that's just it ;)

Though I don't think the speed is too bad. But yeah.

Still, as far as core gameplay goes, I can't say I have many issues so far. If any.

So how have you solved it?

BTW It has a harsh problems with aircrafts, they should land on nearest airfield automatically and it basically copies Civ 2.

I took my guys up the left side of the map, blocking the small bridge there with a tank and two hydras. That really clogged up the opposition. That gave me time to rally my guys take over the two bases on the way to the harbor. The after a couple of turns when the tank and the hydras where damaged, I withdrew them and slowly moved forward.

Haven't played with aircraft yet. It's bad?

There doesn't seem to be the same variety of units as BI2 (2200?), but most of the missing ones were logistical units that no one ever uses. I'm a bit disappointed, though - I mean, when was the last time a TBS had three or more units that moved only on rail?

I don't see an equivalent to BI's Mobile Bunker Imperator either.

Oh well. As long as the campaign missions have "plot" events relevant to the game play, I'll be satisfied. Glory to the ROOM!

I'm seriously enjoying this, finished the 1st mission last night after a few attempts, mainly just to see how different it would be.

Should gun turrets have an attack of oppurtunity? I can just use 2 movement points to get past them and managed to capture more depots because of this, what do you think?

You mean the fuel and ammo supply trucks? How could you get anywhere in BI2/BI3 without using those?

Kinda wonder what's with these depots with units that are just ready to go into combat at your side when you capture them.

Well to be honest the problem with aircraft is babysiting. Fighter gets 3 turns before it should go back to base, Bomber gets 4 turns. (Even Gadget Trial has more fuel in airplanes.)

BTW So far it looks like it has hard time to mach story with this:
